I just noticed that Take That's 'Rule The World' has now been #83 for 5 consecutive weeks!

I can't imagine that any song has stayed in one position for so long outside of, say, the top 10?

The only chart occurrence I know of is Wet Wet Wet, Bryan Adams #1 for 14 weeks or more

Can we come up, with anymore songs, that have stuck in one place for more than 2 weeks, outside the top 10?

I thought of Tina Turner in March 1984. She spent 3 weeks, at number 40 with her version of the Beatles "Help".

Any others then?

Chris Brown spent 2 weeks at #40 with Kiss Kiss

(my memory is far too good, although many peoples' here are inhumanly better)

The Feeling - as far as I know - hold the record for most weeks at a position between #11 and #75, when "Fill My Little World" was #16 for four weeks in a row in 2006.

I think this prompted an entire thread on chc at the time? I think Jester had something to do with it?

We put together a list of each position in descending order of songs which held that position for the most consecutive weeks, e.g. #34 - Bucks Fizz - "I Hear Talk" - 3 weeks - Jan 1985.

Tina Turner's #40 was also there, but shared it with Holly And The Ivys' "Christmas On 45" - 3 weeks - Dec 1981/Jan 1982!

It made for very interesting reading!

Bryan Adams spent 4 weeks at No.11 with Run To You in 1985

Chart Run: 74-41-28-18-{11}-11-11-11-17-27-36-66 (12 wks)

He didn't hit the top 10 until 1991 - I bet you can't guess what that song was ^_^

Wow you're way too observant for your own good :P

Well, my chart spreadsheet is, anyway... :)

I've set it so climbers are in red text, fallers in blue, and anything else in black - that's the only way I spotted the TT occurance.

Let us know if it makes 6 weeks at that position? It keeps meandering in the iTunes chart between 100 and 120 for the past four weeks or so! I didn't think anything so low would make any impact at all - but to keep it in the top 100! They may have a song in the top 200 by the time they release their next single.

I'm too old for this. I long for the days when you went to a record shop and listend to vinyl things on big head-phones!

In Ireland this week Closer by Ne-Yo spends its 4th consecutive week at 12. It spent 1 week in the chart prior to this entering at no 22.

Back in 1994 Bill Whelan spent 18 consecutive weeks at no 1 in Ireland and for the last 13 weeks of that run Wet Wet Wet were stuck behind it at no 2 with Love Is All Around (it never reached no 1 there!)

Foo Fighters- The Pretender spent 3 weeks at #27, or was it #28, i'm not sure in a row, and then on the way down it spent another there
