October 28, 200816 yr I quite agree. Afterall, as much as it's dressed up as a glamorous lifestyle of a spy, at the end of the day, Bond is a killer. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing childish about the narratives displayed in Bond. "Moonraker" aint half cr@p though.... All that dodgy "Star Wars" guff towards the end is just silly..... You love it when you're a kid, but looking at it now.... Oh dear..... Dalton was a great Bond, under-rated; he didn't get a fair shout because he was much more like Fleming's Bond and considerably less like the rather camp version Moore portrayed.... Daniel Craig, for my mind, however, is probably the best Bond since Connery...
October 29, 200816 yr I think i'll watch this it look very good i was wathing some bits on it last night and it looks amazing :w00t:
October 29, 200816 yr i might be watching this on friday :) Talking of friday, did the producers make a mistake by releasing this on Halloween? Edited October 29, 200816 yr by Joao Filipe
October 29, 200816 yr i might be watching this on friday :) Talking of friday, did the producers make a mistake by releasing this on Halloween? Nahh, no way! It won't affect its ticket sales in the slightest. I dare say loads of people will go to the screenings on Halloween dressed as James Bond too. :heehee: I love the fact we're getting this film before everyone else too.

Well it is only fair we get it first... As its a British film (i use that term VERY loosely) and all
October 31, 200816 yr Just got back from this.... .... Most dissapointed i have been in a long time :nocheer: I love Bond, but this movie was just so anti-climactic and quite c**p to me tbh... nothing really went on and i didnt really understand what did... i feel like nothing at all was explained, Daniel Craig (who i think is easily one of the worst Bonds) just shot people for no reason :\ Dont get me wrong, the action scenes where great but the whole film = meh. Overall : 2/5 :(
October 31, 200816 yr Well unlike James I muchly enjoyed it :heehee: In shock factor terms it was very good. The amount of times I practically sh!t myself and jumped out of my seat was ridiculous, haha. The plot was a bit iffy but it was very nicely directed and shot. Not a perfect film or even close, and not Casino Royale, but good. What I felt it lacked was a convincing Bond girl (the girl who wasn't Gemma Arterton was decent if unremarkable; Gemma Arterton's role was entirely pointless) whereas both Die Another Day and particularly Casino Royale had brilliant Bond girls. I also do miss the suave of Piers Brosnan who remains the best Bond in my eyes, but Craig's grit is not unwelcomed either. 7/10
October 31, 200816 yr The amount of times I practically sh!t myself and jumped out of my seat was ridiculous, haha No Jark, that's not the film, that's just you :kink:
November 1, 200816 yr I found this so extremly dissapointing. The plot was just very weak to say the least. The bad guys were just dreadful, the Bond girl was one of the worst ever. When it ended I said to my mate "there is no way it could be over, there was no big ending". Frankly the entire film was just a load of incoherent c**p imo. The first half hour or so was good, but overall I cannot remember the last time I was so bored watching a Bond film. Even the action scenes, while obviously done very well and were very impressive, alot of them were just so OTT and unrealistic that I was just bored watching them. Daniel Craig was excellent though, and Casino Royal is without a doubt one of the best Bond film ever, this however is easily one of the most dissapointing for me. Id give it 6/10 and that is being generous imo.
November 1, 200816 yr Even the action scenes, while obviously done very well and were very impressive, alot of them were just so OTT and unrealistic that I was just bored watching them. Tbh if you go into a Bond film expect any degree of realism whatsoever you're surely bound to be disappointed? The action scenes were highly impressive, and bloody frightening in parts. I agree about the villain though. He was a tad dull; they're supposed to feel dangerous to the viewer, there was no sense of that here...
November 2, 200816 yr Bond breaks UK opening day record Saturday, November 1 2008, 16:27 GMT By Michael Thornton Rex Features The latest James Bond movie has broken UK box office records on its first day of release. According to Sony, Quantum Of Solace made £4.9 million yesterday, breaking the previous Friday opening high of £4.03m set by Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire. Takings for the film have eclipsed Daniel Craig's last outing as the superspy in Casino Royale, which made £2.9 million on its first day.
November 2, 200816 yr Just wondering whether to see this still. Casino Royale was an awesome 'more real life-21st century' spy/secret agent movie, but it wasn't very bondish. For example, not as over the top or patriotic (I think we can blame Brosman for that tbh  ). But in a way it was better, but I couldn't sit through it again. Give me wild car chases and dramatic gun downs and helicopters and aeroplanes and stuff like that anyday!
November 2, 200816 yr Well I didnt like this film half as much as casino royal. The film was definately lacking something. I found the storyline weak. Also, the characters were weak too such as the big vilians and the bond girl. The ending was disappointing..I was bored halfway through the film. I'd give the film 3/5 but its not a patch on the last film. I blame the writers not Daniel Craig.
November 2, 200816 yr Made up my mind, am seeing this next week. :P Although I'll add another thing, I'd love to see Daniel Craig's Bond turn 'bad', and then a new Bond comes on the scene. It would fit and Daniel would play it well.
November 3, 200816 yr Bond film smashes weekend records: The new James Bond fillm has broken box office records on it's opening weekend in the UK - taking £15.5m in 3 days according to, according to early figures. Quantum of Solace took a further £14.2m in France and Sweden, according to industry journal Screen Daily. The movie, which premiered in London on Wednesday, beat the previous record of £14.9m set in 2005 by 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'. Opening weekend numbers also surpassed the previous Bond film, Casino Royale.
November 3, 200816 yr Saw it on Friday, was disappointed to be honest. You can't really compare it to a classic James Bond film. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were both good in it but there wasn't much of a story and too much action. No classic references such as "Bond, James Bond." and the gunshot sequence came in right at the end. I wouldn't see it again but it was okay, if you're a die hard Bond fan though is is slightly disappointing. Loved the girl from St. Trinians in it though, she was fierce! November 5, 200816 yr it was awful, oh where to begin? the plot is difficult to follow and dull as hell!! the set pieces lackluste and all sign posted, here comes the car chase, a boat chase, on foot chase, a plane chase. action by numbers. the bond girls were average, gemma was totally wasted and whats up with that plummy accent (not credible at all) and they don't have the charisma like eva green had. the bad guy is boring and completely forgettable. craig's bond is still a thuggish bouncer and daniel came across as very cold too cold, he acted and looked totally disinterested with what is going on. this film didn't feel like a james bond film and certainly didn't have its spirit.
November 9, 200816 yr I saw this on Friday and I was totally underwhelmed. The action set peices were all Bourne or Casino Royale rehashes, the plot was a bit pointless and without any real direction and the ending was just :manson: Judi Dench was the best thing in it by miles.
November 9, 200816 yr I agree with what people ahve already said. Absolutely immense action scenes (although were some were wayy OTT... like the parachtue sequence.). The story (well, WHAT story) was absolute bollocks. I wanna see more of Mr. White though!!!
November 10, 200816 yr I agree about the villain though. He was a tad dull; they're supposed to feel dangerous to the viewer, there was no sense of that here...[/size] It could have been worse, though - remember the main henchman from Tomorrow Never Dies? I don't think I've ever seen a weaker bad guy.
