Posted August 5, 200817 yr Kid Rock set to kiss goodbye to number one 12:07 | Tuesday August 5, 2008 By Paul Williams Kate Perry’s rush-released I Kissed A Girl is set to follow its chart-topping status in the US by reaching number one on this side of the Atlantic. Early retail sales for this week indicate the Virgin-issued track, which is presently heading the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a sixth straight week, will end Atlantic act Kid Rock’s run at number with All Summer Long after just seven days. I Kissed A Girl debuted at number four in the UK last week with its digital release having been brought forward by EMI because of huge demand for the track and the presence of several cover versions in the market. Dizzee Rascal’s Dance Wiv Me on his own Dirtee Skank label is likely to retain its top-three status for another week, while Vertigo/Mercury’s Noah & The Whale are expected to make further progress having previously climbed 14-10 with 5 Years Time. Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna is likely to claim two simultaneous hits in the Top 20 with Take A Bow set to be joined by Disturbia, which is on course for a double-digit climb from its present chart position of 34. Roadrunner/Warner’s long-running Nickelback hit Rockstar will spend its 43rd week on the chart by climbing back into the Top 40, while other arrivals to the 40 will include All Around The World act Cascada and Island’s Nelly. On albums Abba’s Gold, which last week became the oldest album to reach number one in chart history, is poised to extend its run at the top for a further week for Polydor with Parlophone’s Coldplay again the closest challengers. In a quiet week for new releases, Atlantic artist Natty is in position to claim the chart’s highest new entry with Man Like I, while other new entries will include new sets from Nonesuch/Warner’s Randy Newman and Wichita act Conor Oberst. ================================================ Singles 01 Katy Perry 13.4k 02 Kid Rock 11k 03 Dizzee Rascal 8.2k 04 The Script 7.4k 05 Jordin Sparks 6.2k Top 10 Noah & The Whale Top 15 Ida Maria 14 Rihanna - Disturbia Coldplay Top 20 Adele Top 30 Nickelback - Rockstar  Nelly Feat Akon & Ashanti Cascada Sharleen Spiteri 35 Top 40 Stiff Dylans Top 50 Duffy - Mercy Scouting For Girls - Heartbeat Spoon Harris & Obernik Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama Pendulum - Propane Nightmares Pigeon Detectives Top 60 Script - We Cry Pendulum - The Other Side Coldplay - Violet Hill Scouting For Girls - It's Not About You Bob Sinclar Basshunter - Now You're Gone Taio Cruz Tinchy Stryder Top 70 Florence And The Machine Honey Honey - Mamma Mia Cast Top 75 Kylie Minogue - The One 71 Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music Top 90 Stiff Dylans - Ever Fallin In Love Alphabeat - Napster Live Session (Boyfriend) Top 100 Yung Berg Top 110 The Verve Late Of The Pier Katie Melua - When You Taught Me How To Dance ============================================= Albums 01 ABBA 8.5k 02 Coldplay 6.1k (102 copies ahead) 03 Duffy 6k 04 Kid Rock 4.1k 05 Basshunter 3.9k Top 10 Nickelback Rihanna Top 15 Scouting For Girls Natty Top 30 Mamma Mia - OCR Randy Newman Michael Buble Pendulum - Hold Your Colour Conor Oberst Top 40 Pigeon Detectives Sam Sparro Bob Marley - Legend Top 50 Amy Winehouse - Frank Fleet Foxes David Bowie Kings Of Leon Leona Lewis Top 60 ABBA - 18 Hits Jakob Dylan Top 70 Extreme Bon Jovi - Crossroads Seth Lakeman Snow Patrol - Eyes Open Cool Kids Take That Top 90 Elvis Presley - 68 Comeback Special Lloyd Top 100 Ron Sexsmith Sales Source and additonal Info from the Music Room ============================================= Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Singles 01 Katy Perry 02 Kid Rock 03 Dizzee Rascal 04 The Script 05 The Verve Top 10 Noah & The Whale Top 15 14 Rihanna – Disturbia Ida Maria Top 20 Coldplay Adele Top 30 Nelly Feat Akon & Ashanti Cascada Nickelback - Rockstar Top 40 Sharleen Spiteri 36 Spoon Harris & Obernik ============================================= Albums 01 ABBA 02 Duffy 03 Coldplay 04 Kid Rock 05 Basshunter Top 10 Rihanna Nickelback Top 15 Scouting For Girls Natty Top 30 Mamma Mia - OCR Randy Newman Pendulum - Hold Your Colour Top 40 Conor Oberst Vampire Weekend Pigeon Detectives Sam Sparro Bob Marley - Legend NO SALES INFO ============================================= Thursday Update Top 40 Only Singles 01 Katy Perry 02 Kid Rock 03 Dizzee Rascal 04 The Script 05 The Verve Top 10 Noah & The Whale Top 15 13 Rihanna – Disturbia Ida Maria Top 20 Coldplay Adele Top 30 Nelly Feat Akon & Ashanti Cascada Top 40 Nickelback - Rockstar Sharleen Spiteri 36 Spoon Harris & Obernik Scouting For Girls - It's Not About You ============================================= Albums 01 ABBA 02 Duffy 03 Coldplay 04 Kid Rock 05 Basshunter Top 10 Rihanna Nickelback Top 15 Scouting For Girls Scooter Natty Top 30 Mamma Mia - OCR Pendulum - Hold Your Colour Randy Newman Top 40 Conor Oberst Vampire Weekend Pigeon Detectives Sam Sparro Bob Marley - Legend NO SALES INFO ============================================= Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 01 Katy Perry 32.6k 02 Kid Rock 24.8k 03 Dizzee Rascal 18.2k 04 The Script 17.6k 05 The Verve 17.2k Top 10 Noah & The Whale Top 15 11 Rihanna – Disturbia Coldplay Top 20 Ida Maria Top 30 Nelly Feat Akon & Ashanti Cascada Top 40 Nickelback - Rockstar Spoon Harris & Obernik Sharleen Spiteri 37 Scouting For Girls - It's Not About You Top 50 Stiff Dylans Duffy - Mercy Lynyrd Skynyrd Taio Cruz Top 60 Bob Sinclar The Script - We Cry Florence & The Machine Tinchy Stryder Top 70 Verve - Bittersweet Symphony Top 80 Kylie - The One Alphabeat - Napster Live Session Top 90 Ray J ft. August 5, 200817 yr Katyb Perry will easily be number one. I think the Verve will be about 12 on todays update but will be about 4 come sunday. Hope Sharleen holds on to a top ten placing in the albums and the saturdays top ten in the singles
August 5, 200817 yr Really don't understand the Katy Perry hype...sheesh. Hate The Verve too...I'm off to hide under a rock.
August 5, 200817 yr The Katy Perry phenomenom is contrived music industry fodder - which of course appeals to 'stupid' masses. I know lets get a gospel singer, change her image so that she looks a bit 'edgy', and to top it off lets get her music to hint at lesbianism so that the young kids will think her 'cool' and original. It's all so obvious............. and obviously $h!t too ;-)
August 5, 200817 yr That Katy Perry song has some of the most excruciating lyrics I've heard in a long time. "Us girls we are so magical, Soft skin, red lips, so kissable". Indeed. The only reason it'll reach the top is because it's the first controversial pseudo-lesbian anthem since All The Things She Said back in 2003. That Kid Rock songs annoys me too, the guy can't sing.. and talk about ripping off a classic song with it's sampling! It's wouldn't be a tenth as popular without it's liberal borrowing from Sweet Home Alabama. I'm rooting for Love Is Noise.. it's not up there with Verve's best, but it's miles ahead of it's other competitors. Unfortunately, it doesn't stand a chance this week, because the physical is out August 12th. Oh well, looks like seven days of smoking funny things or tasting cherry chapstick. Me? I'm off to crawl under a particularly large rock unless it's all over, if you don't mind. Budge up, richie!! Edited August 5, 200817 yr by anxresi
August 5, 200817 yr Author OH BUGGER... I forgot to add 3 extra posts for further updates And I forgot to mention, look out for Nickelback - Rockstar to chart top 40 again :D
August 5, 200817 yr OH BUGGER.. look out for Nickelback - Rockstar to chart top 40 again :D  EDITED your post. :D Why has it climbed suddenly again?
August 5, 200817 yr Author EDITED your post. :D Why has it climbed suddenly again? Its going back up on iTunes as the track is been used on the DFS TV commercial -_-
August 5, 200817 yr Its going back up on iTunes as the track is been used on the DFS TV commercial -_- Well the DFS ad has been around for about a month i think. Even Nickelback/Record didn't want Rockstar to hang around so they deleted it so Photograph had a chance, and now its been re-added to itunes.

August 5, 200817 yr hmmm, was here some sort of Bank Holiday yesterday that I knew nothing about? (Possible these days as I'm an unemployed student  ) Edited August 5, 200817 yr by T Boy
August 5, 200817 yr Rockstar has risen because the single was £1.49 on iTunes for a long time. They've finally changed it to the normal price of 79p so loads of people are starting to purchase it now (plus the DFS advert has helped too) :(
