Posted June 6, 200619 yr Credit: Music Week World Cup fever is taking a firm grip on midweek sales ahead of the tournament's launch in Germany this Friday with at least half a dozen football songs on course for the Top 40. The footballing line-up is headed by the official England team song, Independiente act Embrace's World At Your Feet, which is expected to leap from its number 38 entry position on download-only sales last week into the top five this coming weekend. It is part of a three-way battle with RCA-signed Sandi Thom's I Wish I Was Punk Rocker and Polydor's Nelly Furtado with Maneater for the number one position. Two Gut World Cup tracks are also looking to progress with Tony Christie's (Is This The Way To) The World Cup aiming to move from its entry position of 11 into the Top 10 and Crazy Frog's We Are The Champions (Ding A Dang Dong) poised to climb from 50 last week into the Top 20. Other World Cup contenders for the Top 40 include the Harkit-issued Stan's World Cup Song by comedian Stan Boardman, the return of the Columbia Label Group-handled 3 Lions by Baddiel/Skinner/Lightning Seeds and The Sun-backed Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Jurgen by Tonderf Allstars on the Tone Def label. Alongside Embrace, B Unique/Polydor act Automatic are also expected to climb high into the Top 10 from a lower download-only chart position last week with Monster, while new entries to the chart will come from acts including Attack/Sanctuary's Morrissey, Mute's Depeche Mode and the latest Sony BMG Michael Jackson re-issue. It will be all change this Sunday on the artist albums chart with the likelihood of five new entries in the Top 10 courtesy of RCA's Sandi Thom, Island's The Feeling, Polydor-signed Ronan Keating, Cilumbia's Primal Scream and Warner Bros' Paul Simon, all expected to send Mercury-signed Orson spiralling down the chart just a week after debuting at one with Bright Idea. Thom, on course for a high debut with Smile It Confuses People, will be looking to achieve a chart-topping debut with simultaneous number ones on both the singles and albums charts. =================================================================== Singles 01 Sandi Thom 02 Nelly Furtado 03 Embrace 04 Automatic 05 Gnarls Barkley 06 Infernal 07 Morrissey 08 Pink 09 Keane 10 Tony Christie 11 Depeche Mode 13 Micheal Jackson 14 Hope of the States 15 Crazy Frog 19 Mariah Carey Top 25 Streets Baddiel & Skinner and The Lightning Seeds Sugababes Top 30 Duncan James Top 35 Tonedef Allstars Fightstar Top 40 Lordi Talksport Allstars Top 50 Trinidad & Tobago Tartan Army Vines Top 60 Infadels Koopa David Gimour Top 75 Research Liam Frost ==================== Albums 01 Sandi Thom 02 Feeling 03 Ronan Keating 04 Primal Scream 05 Paul Simon Top 15 Leann Rimes Top 40 Jam Manfred Mann Top 75 Sonic Youth Paul Oakenfold Gomez Towers Of London Ed Harcourt Thanks to Airboy^ at CFR/Haven

June 6, 200619 yr hardly surprising, its their 4th single from their album, I knew it wouldn't chart that high I don't think that's the reason Mikey, it's hardly had any airplay and nobody seems to request it on the music channels, plus it's so boring, they should have released an up beat track.
