Posted September 12, 200816 yr With Kings of Leon getting to number one I want to find out what suprise number ones there have been. I can only think of MCR and Ting Tings
September 12, 200816 yr Arctic Monkeys I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, never saw that one coming.
September 12, 200816 yr Ja Rule & Friends - Wonderful it was certainly a surprise, not a very welcome one :heehee:
September 12, 200816 yr In the albums charts Scooter is probably the biggest surprise... Basshunter - Now You're Gone... PLEASENT surprise I must say though ^_^ Oh and although i hate the song I thought Shapeshifters was a surprise. Edited September 12, 200816 yr by Johnjo07
September 12, 200816 yr I don't see how Ting Tings was a suprise? I'd agree with all of the others though. I was always quite suprised that Dare by Gorillaz got to #1
September 12, 200816 yr Arctic Monkeys I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, never saw that one coming. I did. :D I remember before it even came out I (arrogantly?) claimed that song that most members had not even heard of would be #1. I think that was the occasion after posting for 2/3 months on CoolClarity that members noticed me for the first time. But I'll be honest I never thought Kings of Leon would stand a chance of debuting at #1 on downloads this weekend, Top 5 possibly but never #1. The biggest surprise for me being #1 was Leon Jackson - When You Believe, because compared to Same Difference & especially Rhydian even the cynical me did not think the Great British Public would be stupid/gullible enough to vote for a charismatic free tone deaf crooner with a sob story, but I was oh so wrong.
September 12, 200816 yr It wasn't a "surprise" as such after I'd heard it, but if two years ago someone told me that Estelle would have a #1 in 2008, I'd never have believed them in a million years!

I was thinking about whether to say that one or not... Wasn't too sure though. But I would have to agree with you.

In the case of X-Factor songs, even a recording of an elephant farting would get to #1 if it won the show...
September 12, 200816 yr I've just noticed somebody said Lola's Theme by Shapeshifters. For me it was the complete oppostite - the first time I heard I remember thinking this is going to be huge.
September 12, 200816 yr oh I remember the most obvious one: Atomic Kitten - Whole Again :o I was sure it would go low top 20 only and I was amazed when I read on teletext that it was heading for No.1 because all of their previous hits had gone low top 10/top 20!
September 12, 200816 yr I also recall being surprised at Daniel Bedingfield hitting No.1 with If You're Not The One even Woolies only had it at about #9 I think...
September 12, 200816 yr Chico - Its Chico time Tatu - All the things she said Evanesence - Bring Me To Life
September 12, 200816 yr :o I forgot about Tatu. I guess Leona Lewis Bleeding Love was quite a shock to me because I read a poll somewhere and it was something like who would be number 1 next week, Take That or Leona and Take That had about 70% of the votes orsomething like that. So until I heard Leona was number 1 in the mids I was like :o I thought Take That would get it. Edited September 12, 200816 yr by Johnjo07
September 12, 200816 yr All The Things She Said, I thought would be No.1 before I even saw the video...as soon as I saw the video I knew 100% that it was going to No.1...having said that, it sold a lot less on its first week than I thought it would (90k?) I thought it was heading for about 150k first week...
