I'm speechless!!

Firstly that idiots watch X-Factor and secondly that by watching some cretin on the show warbling some awful track that they would actually fish it out to buy it...

Brainless sheep!

Other than this and Singin' In The Rain, how many songs have had an appearance in the Top 10 based on a reality show (ignoring the performers on those reality shows)?

Well to be fair it's gonna get worse than this :( Well.. having loads of Abba songs won't be too bad but when my problem with shows like these is that people who can just sing and not have an amazing voice go on there and are then people suddenly say they have an 'amazing' voice when they're nothing new and then download a track just because someone sang it or it was played on a show? Decent song but no need to download EVERYTHING you're spoonfed! It's bad enough that people download songs played commercial radio stations which are only played because they sound like everything else that's been played in the last 30 years -_-

'Tis a case of people being sheep as it's not like it wasn't a very famous song anyway! It was #3 only a few years ago and on a massive film at the same!

If its a case of being a sheep, then don't buy anything that enters the chart EVER or hear on the radio! This sheep idea is rediculous. Alot of people have stated on this forum and others and they simply downloaded it realising that they didn't have it and wanted the song.

I guess its quite an odd song to re-enter. If I could make a list of the songs that will re-enter due to X Factor byt the end of the year the list would no doubt contain Leon, Leona, Westlife blah blah blah. Never thought Faith Hill would though.

I just do really hate this new culture of downloading whats on an advert or TV show though :( its annoying to me although I think this is probably the first time the song has been good. Nickelback, Cilmi, Phil Collins etc Why? :( I see 'She's So Lovely' has started getting rotation on some advert which wll no doubt keep that on itunes for another 20 weeks or so :/

See i don't have a problem with it, if the song is reaching new audiences which both There You'll Be and last year with Phil Collins last year - most people don't actually have them songs. Have heard it and thought they would download it. Why not? Its just the same as radio and considering the whole point of radio and TV for music is to sell the song or product then its doing its job

I agree totally.

Incidently I went onto Faith's official site - which i have never done can i add - see this has got me interested in her - and she is releasing a CHRISTMAS album! I am so excited by this, and hope there will be a UK release, especially now!

Billboard had a preview of two tracks from her Christmas album back in the unseasonal month of June! Unfortunately the article has now gone, only the original article about the album is now at the Billboard site:

According to that article the album was released last week in the US but it may have been put back? I've seen the 30th September as the release date. Most Christmas albums appear early in the US so it must be getting a release soon.

I read an article yesterday that she did a US concert last week where she was reduced to tears by a heckler in the audience insulting her husband - what's that all about?

Its just a shame people have probably heard that song quite a few times, but sometimes are a bit ignorant and have to wait for a tv ad to feed it to them  . I'm not sure i've worded it the right way but i hope someone gets what i mean :P. I'm not saying people literally think: "Well i'm not gonna buy that song because it isn't on an ad/tv yet" obviously but an ad or being on X Factor always means people take more notice of the song and thats how music buying nowadays works: people will just wait for music to be given to them

I think the song may have clicked with the audience. The song's lyrics really suited Amy's story, the glove fit so to speak.

Plus, I heard There You'll Be on Radio 2 today - this is the first time i heard it on radio since it was released

I think it just makes more people take notice of a song at a certain moment of time and therefore makes it more likely that more people will buy the song.

This week Alan Jones made a comment about Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" song, saying it normally sells about 300 copies per week but its appearance on an advert had pushed sales to over 2,000 a week. The same is probably true of any older song, it will take a media event (Advert, X Factor etc) to make many more people wish to purchase the song all at once.

not surprised to see Radio 2 play it again, it was A-listed back then. Actually their playlist was full of cheesy pop and ballads back then. Also heard Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive short afterwards
I've just been looking at the sales from back then in 2001. There You'll Be sold 47,000 copies the week it entered the chart at #3 and sold a total of 205,110 copies that year to end up the 52nd best seller of the year. It was also awarded a Silver Disc for shipments of 200,000 copies.
I love the fact that this has been able to chart again - 5 years ago this would never have happened as the single would have been long gone from the shops and the album might have picked up a few sales had people searched it out in stores - Downloading like this from the impact of a TV show can only be a good thing for the music industry no?!

I wish more people would take an interest in Faith Hill. I am a huge fana nd own all of her stuff but none of it ever gets released here any more. Her last UK release was Cry back in 2002 i think so I have to import it all from the US. I know it will never be big here but it should still get a release imo. She has such an incredible voice.
