Posted November 4, 200817 yr Pop battles indie for the albums charts crown Source: MW 10:58 | Tuesday November 4, 2008 By Ben Cardew Pop looks set to vanquish indie once more at the top of the albums charts, with Girls Aloud’s Out Of Control (Fascination) taking a commanding lead ahead of Razorlight’s new album Slipway Fires (Vertigo). The girl band’s new studio set has shifted almost 26,000 copies in its first day of release, while Slipway Fires sold nearer 17,000, putting it behind both Girls Aloud and Pink, whose Funhouse (LaFace) last Sunday topped the charts ahead of Snow Patrol’s A Hundred Million Suns (Fiction). Greatest hits sets from Enrique Iglesias, Cliff Richard and Status Quo are also set for new entries within the top twenty, while Grace Jones’ comeback album Hurricane (Wall of Sound) should make the top forty. On the singles chart, Hero by X Factor Finalists (Syco) is off to another very strong start, selling almost 73,000 copies yesterday, while new singles from Beyoncé (If I Were A Boy [RCA]) and Britney Spears (Womanizer [Jive]) are challenging for top five places, despite only being available digitally. ============================================ Top 40 Only Singles Top 38 Only 01 X Factor Finalists 73k 02 Girls Aloud 19.2k 03 Beyonce 04 Britney Spears 05 Guru Josh Top 10 Jack White & Alicia Keys 10 Alesha Dixon Top 15 13 Leona Lewis Top 20 16 Christina Aguilera Akon Top 30 Pussycat Dolls - IHTP Adele Will Young - Grace Kings Of Leon - US Paul Weller Top 40 31 Miley Cyrus Chris Brown - Superhuman Bellamy Bros ============================================= Albums 01 Girls Aloud 26k 02 Pink 03 Razorlight 17k 04 Snow Partrol 05 Kings Of Leon Top 10 Enrique Iglesias 10 Will Young Top 15 Cliff Richard Status Quo Andrea Bocelli Top 20 Paul Weller Scouting For Girls Top 30 27 Girls Aloud - Live 3k Top 40 Grace Jones Thunder NO SALES INFO ================================================= PLEASE NOTE Please keep this thread on topic at all times, I do not want to repeat myself every week, no text talk is allowed, do not write in block CAPS, and keep all requests in one post if you can, and try to read the thread topic before asking a question and please be patient while you are waiting for your question to be answered. November 4, 200817 yr Girls Aloud for number one album please :w00t: Hope Britney can do well on the singles side!!
November 4, 200817 yr When you say Guru Josh is a climber, do you mean the infinitely (see, what I did there?) superior version from 1990?
November 4, 200817 yr Alesha for top 10 and i'll be happy... however i don't think she will be on the 1st update
November 4, 200817 yr I dont mind so much about GA getting no1, its sales that i want to be high and they need top 3 for that.
November 4, 200817 yr This time last week it was 3 pages long -_- I think it will be a long thread this week too :cheer:
November 4, 200817 yr Think there'll be a huge amount of movement in the top 10 this week behind the (surely unmoveable) #1. Today's midweeks 2-10 could bare little resemblance to Sunday's chart. Leona I think will move up through the week and start lowish. Britney and Beyonce will be ahead in the race to topple Girls Aloud but not sure if they'll do it today. November 4, 200817 yr Im quite disapointed that the X Factor is taking this week. :( I was excited to see a big battle for Number 1 between the ladies but I guess its just a race for number 2. :( Are they all out physically or are any on downloads only?

Leona is out on physical but for some reason wasn't released on Sunday digitally so has lost a day's sales there.

November 4, 200817 yr Oh no. :( I was rooting for Leona this week. :( I think I read Britney isnt out till later in the month, which would be great because Womanizer is easily her best song in such a long time and deserves Number 1 no question. :)
November 4, 200817 yr Booo The X Factor Single! I was soo excited to see which Diva would Take the Number 1 Spot! If Hero is number 1 for ages I will actually go mad..fair enough it's for charity but It's just so frustrating!
