November 4, 200817 yr Girls Aloud´s album sold in 1 day more then Sugababes album sold in its first week...
November 4, 200817 yr Author Girls Aloud´s album sold in 1 day more then Sugababes album sold in its first week... Let's not go into a GS vs Sugababes route, you do know what happens, we get a bashing.
November 4, 200817 yr i'm rooting for anyone that can knock x-factor down! but its not going to happen this week. out of the females beyonce definately has the stronger and better track and it makes "musical sense" -_- that its doing better. its a mature, moody grower of a track compared to britney, alesha, christina and leona's tracks. lyrically its strong and beyonce's emotive singing is convincing although at times there is over singing. an unexpected downtempo comeback track that works and suits the singer. i expected leona to be higher considering she has physicals boosting her, good airplay and has done tv promo where as beyonce and britney haven't. but the actual track doesn't work lyrically at all cause you don't believe leona would cheat its disingenuous, its at complete odds with her squeaky clean safe image some would say bland image. this track only has a catchy hook but little else, its just so americanised whitney/toni braxtonesque. and just look at the lyrics when she sings "i'm grown". no one in the UK says "i'm grown". this track is for the US market.
November 4, 200817 yr To be fair though, Sugas have completely flopped this year. I think it could be the end.

I kinda agree, the song doesn't sound right coming from 'perfect' Leona Lewis. Having said that, I really like it and it had better enter the top 10 soon. :( As for the point about the US market, well duh, I think it was a bit of a rush job to make the album more US-friendly and now we're getting them over here.
November 4, 200817 yr the problem was "girls" came across as a glorifed tv ad, the use of that sample was to obvious. they need to move fast with the 2nd single otherwise they'll lose too much momentum.
November 4, 200817 yr LOL one flop album isn't gonna end their carreers. A number of their albums have been dodgy though..
November 4, 200817 yr Saturdays are at #12 with "Up" selling approx 7000 copies. That info from KevKev at the Saturdays forum. Edit - "The Loving Kind" is at #144 on the singles chart for you crazy Girls Aloud fans... :P Edited November 4, 200817 yr by Doctor Blind
November 4, 200817 yr Edit - "The Loving Kind" is at #144 on the singles chart for you crazy Girls Aloud fans... :P For a dual GA and PSB fan like me, that's great :w00t: As for Leona singing "I'm grown", I thought it was "I groan" for a while... :heehee:
November 4, 200817 yr A number of their albums have been dodgy though.. In what way ? they all been huge sellers
November 4, 200817 yr Yes. And ifit wasn't for the X Factor they wouldn't be selling that much. The whole point of the xfactor performances is to promote and help sell songs - thats why everyone goes on  Amazing sales for GA, i cant believe how well its selling. And the babes album has flopped, it doesnt deserve to be out the top 40 after 3 weeks, thats awful.
November 4, 200817 yr In what way ? they all been huge sellers Record labels dont look at old album sales, they look at what the artist is selling now. Surely thats obvious? You cant release new albums and lose/make little money and say ohhhhh its ok, one of their old albums sold over a million so it doesnt matter.
November 4, 200817 yr wow what a week and i just hope Girls Aloud can hold onto number 1 in the album chart,,,i think the live album may drop a bit but i never expected it to be so high to start with,,could well see 4 albums top 75 for the girls come sunday,,with the album been out i was sure the single would drop but almost 20k this week so far at number 2 is amazing, the single could easily pass the 200k sales bench at the end of next week. The singles chart is brilliant this week with so much new entries and competition although im shocked at leona's position but i think it will make number 6 or 7 come sunday, and christina should make #11 or #12 come sunday.. Britney and Beyonce im not a huge fan of either but im hoping with womanizer charting on downloads now it will kill of sales for later to give way to take that getting to number 1 with beautiful day.. Alisha i hope at worst stays top 10 this is an important single for her career wise

That's really not true, the fact is Sugas have made their label profits, a lot in fact. The fact that one of their albums is selling less than expected is a bummer yes, but its not the be all and end all. They will not lose their contract over this, if it was their first/only album then yes they possibly would, but because theyre normally such big sellers the label will see this as a fluke flop.

I agree, but all i am saying is you cant continually refer back to old sales when the market was different. Look at the all saints. Their new success was nothing like their old stuff and the record label took this onboard.
