November 30, 200816 yr :o Well she isn't as $h!t and talentless as I thought she was then. The song was awful though  Oh and Ruth :( She was by far the best tonight aswell. Such a shame for Ruth. It was sad that when her and Orville were left ... we knew it was inevitible that Ruth was going! Did anyone notice how upset Louis looked while Ruth was singing her final song? Still ... I'm sure she has a future for herself in the music industry. Incidentally - I think all the contestants need congratulating tonight as they were all better than Britney. Norma
November 30, 200816 yr really? i would rank britney above Eggnog, at least she actually 'sang' instead of letting a choir do all the work for her

November 30, 200816 yr Alexandra was amazing tonight. She really does deserve to win, mainly because she's the only talented one left mind. And people are being WAY too harsh on Britney. She may have mimed but she put on a good show and if you compare it to last years dreadful VMA's performance of 'Gimme More', I'd say it was pretty damn good.
November 30, 200816 yr Alexandra was incredible. Her "Listen" had me in awe. Ruth was brilliant tonight, too. I don't see why the judges were praising Eoghan's performance of that High School Musical rubbish. It really wasn't that good. Okay vocals, okay dancing. Just average.
November 30, 200816 yr I'm totally flummoxed as to why some people seriously want this to win. gLQVU4gDrvQ
November 30, 200816 yr I'm rapidly losing patience with this programme. 1. How on earth can they have a 'Britney week'. This is meant to be a singing contest (as Simon pointed out about 3 times last night) so why the hell are they making contestants sing songs by someone who cannot sing?? I just felt that even Alexandra's performance was not as good as usual because she had to sing a song by someone who's voice was nowhere near as strong or pitch perfect as her own. Just ridiculous in every single way. 2. The one person who should have really done well last night, as her voice probably isn't too disimilar from Britney's (although we'll never truly know as she hardly ever sings completely live anymore), is Diana's, though when she wasn't waving her left claw around she was distinctly flat and waily. Perhaps the hand is the source of her power - might be an interesting study for next week: does the movement of Diana's hand reflect the way she sings? Answers on a postcard. 3. Britney mimed. The build up, the tension, the screams...and that was it. Unbelievable that they should let people on a singing contest when they can't sing. And before people tell me I'm being too harsh on Britney - well firstly I said exactly the same last week when SameDifference mimed, and the week before when Mariah mimed. SameDifference mimed because they probably couldn't sing and dance simultaneously (i.e what I like to call the Steps excuse). If that's the case then they should have let the dancers dance around them whilst they SING. God knows why Mariah didn't sing live, though after her incredibly lacklustre performance of Hero I wonder whether she's losing her talent. My housemates were getting annoyed with me and said that though Britney didn't sing, she gave a 'performance'. BULL$h!t MAMA. If I want a performance I'll go and watch a pantomime, I would never pay to watch someone dance around on stage whilst giving such a half-arsed attempt at miming (unless I was paying to watch the Strictly Come Dancing tour), it's just not cool. 4. Alexandra HAS to win this. If she doesn't then my faith in the British public will once again fail as it did last year when Leon won. Eoghan CANNOT sing and whoever said that they couldn't hear him over the backing track was absolutely right! He was utter plops - and for Simon to say that it was hard for boys to sing Britney...well I feel that Shayne Ward could have done it to be honest, and anyway, Eoghan struggled with Take That so I just think it's down to him being c**p. As for Diana, I am truly missing something there. I seriously do not get how she's so loved - maybe it's the same love and admiration that people have for Britney. 5. Comes to something when I actually enjoyed Miley Cyrus' performance (and I HATE her). Aside from Alexandra and Ruth (who should never have gone over Eoghan), I felt the whole show was a complete waste of an evening. If Alexandra goes next week I won't bother watching the final. [/rant] In a bad mood today, got woken up early :P Oh and before the Britney and Mariah fans start to prepare the noose to hang me with - it's MY opinion. I'm entitled to it and I will stand by it.

I found it ironic that Simon (when Louis queried the fact that Diana never danced) shouted at him that this was a show about 'singing' not dancing - then he gives Britters a blank cheque to do just that! To be honest ... calling it dancing is a bit of a nonsense ... she just pranced from one side of the stage to the other. And before people go ... but it was an energetic routine ... you can't sing and move about with a good performance - one point - PINK DID! At the EMA's she was all over the place but she didn't need to mime - and she stole the show! Then again, I think Britney's fans were just pleased to actually see her on a stage. Let's face it - she could have just stood there for three and a half minutes and Simon for one would have raved! My rant over ... now back to next week's show. Who's the guest artist? PS.I totally agree with all the above. I found her performance rather embarrassing for the show. As the X-Factor is supposedly a talent show to find a great singer, star acts should be banned from appearing unless they can sing live on the show as it smacks of rank hypocrisy.
November 30, 200816 yr Author Time to reflect on last night's Britney's performance, which wasn't a great image for the other contestants on the show. If you were given a spot on a Prime time TV show you would expect to give a live performance, and before anyone shoots me down all she did was just prance around in her underwear, its not strictly dancing, its a talent contest, that just gave a bad impression. I don't know why some members have said it was a brilliant performance she didn't sing for goodness sake, whatever you were watching you must have been seeing a different show, as from where I was sitting all she was doing was miming throughout her performance, oh, btw its my opinion, if you don't like it, you know what to do. Anyhow back on topic, I'm starting to like Alexandra even more now, but I didn't think it was her best performance. She could be in danger next week as the public will vote the talent off instead of JLS or Egghead. Ruth's both tracks were brilliant she should have stayed in, she had bulls. I hope Egghead catches laryngitis this week and fails to hit the sharp notes. And Diana needs an uptempo song to prove she is not a one trick pony. As I'm beginning to get bored now with the same routine, but I'm a fan of hers, she needs to be versatile and show she can develop, not been stuck in a void. Next week's live guest is Il Divo

I've been listening to Frank Skinner on Radio 5 Live at the moment, and he was talking about X-Factor & SCD and made a similar comment regarding Diana's left arm being a Samson hair like source of power. I totally agreed with his view regarding Alexandra that she is the best singer in the competition, but like the best dancer in SCD to watch (Rachel Stevens), she is boring to listen to and is "no Beverley Knight". He was gutted that Ruth was eliminated over the "dull & wet" JLS; and "Orville The Duck".

Next week's live guest is Il Divo Won't matter will it? His backing singers will cover him up ... like they've done in all previous numbers on the 'big notes'. He will win this series. I actually like Diana (although she is just a mini-Dolores O'Riorden isn't she?) For me though, the only one with anything vaguely different to offer has gone ... and that was Ruth. She was a rock chick! And I was so glad her I Love Rock & Roll was more Joan Jett than Brocolli Spears! We need more Pinks, Katys, Anastacias (on a good day) not more Mariahs and Whitneys! On a side (and funny note) did anyone notice little snippets of what the contestants were saying when Dermot asked his questions - think about it ... they were all lines to Geraldine's Winner's song! I know that this is how it was written but it was so funny hearing them this time. Even Ruth said at one point 'I started with nothing'.  Norma

November 30, 200816 yr Author And as sidenote I'm sure she was singing 1 Banana 2 Banana not Womanizer :D
November 30, 200816 yr Although I don't think it was her best night I am still shocked that Ruth went. :o She was a bit shouty at times. I didn't know that I Love Rock N Roll was a Britney Spears song. I always associate it with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. UK #4 & US #1 from 1982. IMO it should have been Orville or JLS that should have gone. If Orville wins this it will make a real mockery of the show especially with last year's Leon fiasco. He appeals to little kids - you only had to look at the dancers. They were about 10 years old. The best singer of the night for me was Alex with Diana second. Alex had 2 great performances although I didn't like the choice of the second song. Diana had an average performance with the Britney song but was brilliant with REM's Everybody Hurts. As far as Diana and her hands are concerned. Nobody's worse than rap artists, all they do is wave their arms around while talking. As for $h!tney herself. You could tell she was miming. Shows that she can't sing live. Her hair was a mess and she's got fat. I thought Miley Cyrus was Mileys better and she's only 15. Anyone remember Miley's dad, Billy Ray. He had a hit with that line dance and country song Achy Breaky Heart UK#3 and US #4 hit in 1992 Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart 7kI6qA5Z_Is Edited November 30, 200816 yr by Euro Music

November 30, 200816 yr GAH! This show really winds me up now - entertaining but so far away from reality! :heehee: Ruth was WAY too good to go - Eoghan was rubbish (twice) yet he gets through?! I watched it with friends and we thought it hilarious that Britney mimed after all the build up. She looked great though, and I do love the song. Alexandra to win!! That is all :D
November 30, 200816 yr I didn't know that I Love Rock N Roll was a Britney Spears song. I always associate it with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. UK #4 & US #1 from 1982. One can forgive the young amateur contestants not knowing the original artist ... but there was no excuse for (I think it was Cheryl) referring to it as a Britney Spears song. Anyone remember Miley's dad, Billy Ray. He had a hit with that line dance and country song Achy Breaky Heart UK#3 and US #4 hit in 1992 Thanks! I was trying my best to forget! Norma
