Posted December 30, 200816 yr Not a lot of data around for week 52, but we do have official figures for 6 out of the Top 10. There's still the Music Week end of year report to come which should give us even more official figures. Hopefully they will give us The Killers, because the estimate above can be plus or minus 15K. As it's the end of year chart, both me and the admin will be correcting the figures as we go along, so don't print it just yet. December 31, 200816 yr Is this until December 31st? The sales cut is 27 Dec, the remaining 4 days of 2008 belong to the first week of 2009, hopefully someone can correct me.
December 31, 200816 yr 8th best selling album of the year for Girls Aloud. :o That is incredible, I never thought I would actually see the day. I have all their other albums, I still need to get my copy of this in the new year when I have more money. :P
December 31, 200816 yr The sales cut is 27 Dec, the remaining 4 days of 2008 belong to the first week of 2009, hopefully someone can correct me. You're right, Sunday 28th December onwards belongs to 2009 in terms of end of year sales.
December 31, 200816 yr Some comments Not many acts sell over a million 2 years in a row with basically the same album. Well done Leona Will Young will be disappointed at Rhydian pipping him. Remarkable lack of Rap/R&B in that top 30. No Leon, seems the 2007 X factor result was very strange. Female acts more popular than at any time in the past.
December 31, 200816 yr Leona Lewis is the first Solo Female to have the same Album in the Top 5 of the Year on more than one occasion. 'Spirit' was 2nd in 2007, & it is 4th in 2008. The only other Females to manage it were the Spice Girls. 'Spice' was 3rd for both 1996 & 1997. Even Madonna has never managed it.

Achieved 3rd very quickly in 1996 and of course in slow time over 1997. If memory serves me correctly, 'Spiceworld' ranked 5th in 1997, so having two albums in an end of year Top 5 must have been a rare feat too. Especially debut and second.
December 31, 200816 yr *Prays Declinehouse won't be in the year end chart in 2009* Amazing for P!nk though. That's 3 of her albums that have finished in the year end top 10 now! :D Great sales for the top 5 also, especially as it looked like Duffy would be the only million seller for months on end.
December 31, 200816 yr You're right, Sunday 28th December onwards belongs to 2009 in terms of end of year sales. Take That are still selling really well so I should imagine their sales for 28th thru 31st December will be a nice little cushion for their placing in the 2009 year-end chart - probably top 5 like BW was before it. Yes ... jumping the gun a bit I suppose but it'll probably be true. Norma

Knowing the music industry at the moment it'll probably be re-issued with a dvd for Mother's day and then again with bonus material and new single for Christmas! -_-

Knowing the music industry at the moment it'll probably be re-issued with a dvd for Mother's day and then again with bonus material and new single for Christmas! -_- Well they all do it don't they? Its a pity Take That had that stupid cut-off date (which they stuck to) for their BW Deluxe! Otherwise Beautiful World would still probably be in the top 20 2008 year-end chart too! Norma
December 31, 200816 yr yes very weird x factor last year but proves the public got it wrong when leon won, they got a karoake singer when we all know rhydian should have won.leon as sold up to date 24th dec 110,000.
December 31, 200816 yr 110k inst too bad, especially as the first single was mediocre and the second didnt have any promotion

Like Michelle McManus before him he just got the scottish vote. I'm sure a scottish person will claim there is no such thing but there is, and that's why he won

December 31, 200816 yr good top ten really, I only don't own Coldplay and Scouting For Girls and I would only never consider the latter if I see Viva La Vida cheap one day I'll probably pick it up...
