I think they need to get a bigger fanbase in the UK first of all and then maybe try Europe. After that they should try the US.

OK, i've merged this with the original thread about America since id like to keep all the American related posts together until we get actual confirmation. Hope no one minds.

Very exiting though. They've grown even more in popularity since this thread was started so my opinion has changed now, i think it's ideal that they're doing it now.

Definitely not right now. They need to focus on cracking the UK first! A few hit singles and an album (at this point in time) which still hasn't sold 200k does not make them a huge success, nor anywhere NEAR ready to try the US. If the album goes on to sell a good 500k/600k then please do tell me to shut up, but at this point in time I don't see it happening. They'll scrape platinum if they're lucky and then we'll see how album #2 performs. I'm not "hating" on them in any way. I actually adore The Saturdays and think their album was one of the best pop albums of 2008, I prefer it to all of their competitors, I think Chasing Lights is better than Out Of Control, Catfights & Spotlights and Doll Domination, and generally am quite a huge fan, but this is totally the wrong time.

It's good that they have aspirations and obviously it would be good to see them have a shot at the US at some point, but definitely not now. In a world where not even Girls Aloud and Sugababes (the 2 biggest girlgroups we currently host) haven't even dared try, The Saturdays should definitely leave it for now. Hell not even The Pussycat Dolls sell there anymore. :heehee:

They should go with Issues to radio over there, if it gets play they're set. There's probably more interest in The Saturdays in the USA right now than either GA or SB. I think they should go for it by September.

You really think so?

I would say what with Out Of Control being their biggest studio album yet and Cheryl already (reportedly) trying to crack the US, I would definitely be inclined to think that if anyone is garnering interest in the US right now - it would be Girls Aloud. I haven't heard anything about interest being shown to The Saturdays in the US?

Perez Hilton is constantly posting updates on The Saturdays on his blog.

"Up" was also played in a trailer for "Ugly Betty".

Nothing major, but it's better than nothing.

I just dont see why they should wait any longer in the UK though, they're getting more popular with every release. They may as well try America now, and if they fail they can always try again in a few year,

Perez Hilton has posted many Sugababes song on his blog too.

And the Sugababes have tried to crack the States before, Hole In The Head charted at an amazing 97. But did get too #1 on the club chart.

Three was never released, although there was a tracklist online and supposedly you can buy it in the States.

If the Suga's couldn't make it with HITH, the Sats are kinda facing an uphill battle.

It would be better to wait till album 2/3 so they can release a composite album and have a very strong collection of songs.

I do partially agree but i think that British artists are doing so well at the moment (Leona, Duffy, Adele, Natasha, Joss..) that they may well try whilst they can to be honest. And seeing as they are (hopefully) at an early stage in their careers they could always try again if they fail.

Why was this bumped by the way? Is there any news on the situation because otherwise im just repeating myself.
