January 9, 200916 yr Cool. Been debating wheather or not to get a Stereophonics T Shirt for a few weeks, might get it if it's got 30% off Also see what other bargains I can snap up!
January 9, 200916 yr Just to add to my previous post I hear that Zavvi will be slashing the prices to 20% off everything up to 50% from tomorrow :-)
January 9, 200916 yr The problem with the majority of music retailers today is that its so bloody hard to find any music in them!
January 9, 200916 yr It`s true to say there are some pretty naff stores out there...Ain`t it a shame certain Radio Stations don`t bring in the recievers! I can think of many...A lot of those East Anglian stations were put in one group recently, and constantly turn out the same stuff over, and over. There must be some thick people out there that listen to them. Better start a campaign to stop people choosing them, like the stores such as Zavvi...who were pretty ropey to start with, and not a patch on Virgin Megastores.
January 9, 200916 yr well to be honest...i like zavvi...its one of the decent, cheaper music stores!!!! i dont have one in my town nor do i have a woolworths lol. its pretty sad that both stores have gone. i dread to think whats next. any how im off on the hunt tomorrow for a zavvi store that is open and get in them sales. Imagine the bargins
January 9, 200916 yr well to be honest...i like zavvi...its one of the decent, cheaper music stores!!!! i That's how I saw The Fray's debut album in Zavvi for £18 a while ago  Although I have picked up some bargains in Zavvi in the past such as Travis Ode To J Smith album for £7.00 on its day of release while Tesco was £10.97 also got Gorillaz Demon Days for less that a fiver Also the 5 for £30 offer they used to have was good, I remember walking around the store picking CDs anbd DVDs up, and I'd have too many, so I had to put some of them them back
January 10, 200916 yr The High St is a dying breed and people have to get used to that People won't buy clothing online in great numbers because need to try it on first so there is the need for clothes storss in the High St, same with food so the High St needs supermarkets and it needs confectionery/newsagents but it does not need record stores, electrical shops, tv shops, computer games shops, computer stores, book shops, travel agents and so on, in 5 years time I doubt any of those will have a real High St presence and that is no big deal as people can buy those kind of things off the net at far better prices than in the High St The fact that 2 out of the big 3 CD/DVD retailers have gone bust in the last couple of months shows that the net is the way forward and rightly so, same will hopefully happen to the other things I listed No excuse not to use the net for shopping, as long as people don't download loads of $h!t that puts keyloggers onto their pc's fraud is almost non existent, kids can get "top up" Mastercard's these days which means the "I aint got a credit card" excuse doesn't wash any more, kids all have solo cards etc too which can be used online 5 years time the High St will be a wasteland of clothing stores, charity shops, cafes, supermarkets and that is about it, get used to it
January 10, 200916 yr 5 years time the High St will be a wasteland of clothing stores, charity shops, cafes, supermarkets and that is about it, get used to it this is what my town already consists of!! where i live my town is very small and dont have very big names or large shops, and ive lived here for ten years. The only main shops we have is three tesco stores, WHsmith, New look, Burtons,Dorothy perkins and the rest is pubs/charity shops/cafes/estate agents. i guess im already livin in whats gonna be the future lol. January 10, 200916 yr No excuse not to use the net for shopping On 29th December I bought a CD from a very wellknown website. 8:15 on the morning of 2nd January I got an email - your CD is on its way. When did I receive it?? Lunchtime today! Talk about snailmail.....
January 10, 200916 yr On 29th December I bought a CD from a very wellknown website. 8:15 on the morning of 2nd January I got an email - your CD is on its way. When did I receive it?? Lunchtime today! Talk about snailmail..... I ordered a CD same day, telling me the CD is on its way, has not arrived yet and this is HMV, I hope its not lost in the post. The net is not very reliable these days, it would have been quicker getting in a car and go and get it from the shop itself.

January 10, 200916 yr The High Street will never die out - It will change but not die out. For every comapny on the High Street struggling there is another 2 doing well If I was setting up a retail business I would certainly do it online as opposed to "bricks and mortar" online you do not have to pay High St rents, rates, shop fittings and so on so the overheads are so much lower with an online business thus you can sell stuff a lot cheaper than the High St and still make money, I just don't see the High St having a long term future and bar the catergories I listed above the rest I see pretty much being net only in a few years time
January 10, 200916 yr so for people without net access, is it screw them they don't matter. There will always be a need for a physical store, the problem Woolworths had was it had far too many stores, and the credit crunch came along and bit really bad beyond the point fo no return.

January 10, 200916 yr Change the record for heavens sake, there are more people unemployed now, scrimping off the government I hope you don't get the boot from your job in 6 months time. Indeed... Especially as retail would probably be the best job for me right now as I need something flexible and in somewhere where I wouldn't mad with boredom after five minutes.
January 10, 200916 yr Change the record for heavens sake, there are more people unemployed now, scrimping off the government I hope you don't get the boot from your job in 6 months time. Very true which is all the more reason why retailers should have low prices I stand by what I said though that the days of the old fashioned record/dvd retailer are numbered Of the Big 3 Woolies - Gone bust Zavvi - In administration HMV - Losing money hand over fist The net is killing the record / dvd store, it can't be a coincidence that 2 of the Big 3 are bust and the 3rd is always restructuring to try reduce its debt while at the same time more and more digital download sites are appearing and online DVD / CD retailers are massively undercutting the High St
January 10, 200916 yr But the net isn't making a profit either. Amazon UK is huge, it has warehouses nearly 10 times the size of a football pitch yet it's still NEVER had a year where it's made a profit!
