Because Ben isn't a team player! He sits back actually hoping that his team loses (actually aiding and abetting the demise along the way). He did it last week with that monstrosity which he must have known was a loser - but hoped that James as the team leader would get fired. His plan worked this week though ... he sat back - smirking - knowing the cock-up that was made on the Sandalwood essence - yet he didn't step in to save the task.

I can't stand him. He won't win ... but he'll be in until near the end.

By the way - Noors (I never get his name right) team won because of the players ... he was a team leader was useless!

theres only 1 flaw in your conspiracy theory..... if paula had done her job right, he wouldnt have gotten away with it, in fact he could have come out much worse.

ben is a grade 1 twat, but sirallun was right by not fireing him last night. it WAS the girls fault as they were the ones who mixed up sandalwood with cedarwood and at the end of the day, such fatal errors are the responisibility with the person in overall charge ... paula.

But I think he did know what was happening ... he seemed to be actually gloating at it (unless of course it was in the editing). But you can't deny he must have known the week before that the contraption (almost all of his own design) would fail! If this wasn't a show and he'd stood back and let mistakes happen whilst at the same time knowing they were happening ... the whole company would fail and he would be out of a job. He knows he can experiment with his deviousness as it is after all just a TV program. I think he's a scheming, snivelling little sh/t - but I suppose that is what makes good viewing. He's this year's Michael Sophocles but without the charm!

This episode was amazing. Their reactions when Nick told them how much they'd spent on the Sandalwood, and his calm, "I'll leave you to it then." as he walked away. Aahahahahahah <3.

I know, i felt for them but good was it hilarious. Yasmina and Kate's reactions were amazing.

 highlight of the night!

Ben shot himself in the foot when he gloated in the boardroom about his scholarship to some University. I do think he was partly responsible for what happened. He was given a task and he didn't do it. And with all his stockbroking knowledge and scholarships coming out of his arse, he should have spotted the mistake, if he chose to participate in the task given to him.

I think he did spot it but he chose to overlook it. As bad as the other team's product was ... at least they chose to work as a team ... knowing that their chance of individually staying in the competition was for the team to win the task. Ben - in two tasks now ... seems to me to actually sabotage the team he's on ... probably because he believes he is so great that if taken into the boardroom (which he always seems to be) he can brag and bully his way out of it. Mind you ... his tactics seem to be working. As I've just seen by some sly behaviour in The Weakest Link tonight ... TV seems to show that cheats do indeed ... prosper!

I guess I'm the only one who would have fired Yasmina, tonight.

(Goes to run and hide).

This is the best show on TV at the moment.

Absolutely completely! I adore the show, pure compulsive TV on so many levels.

Their's so many hidden agenda's Alan uses to decide who to fire, we need to be mindful that he's also contracted by BBC to make sure he's keeps the ones that cause uproar to keep the pace going.

I'm gunning for Ben, I really think he's a first class prick that never has anything positive to say about team mates and Alan is well aware of this. His weeks are numbered for sure.

I'd like a woman to win it. Perhaps Mona, though she has a vunerable side that I think will show as the week progresses... we shall see... ;)

I think this week's winning team were FAR less entertaining than the losing team. Definately a big gap there.

Nick was undoubtedly the STAR of last night's show.

On the Ben issue, if he continues down his current path, then yes, he's a goner. Sirallun's already marked him out to be an unlikeable little arse.

But I do suspect he may actually be the one to go on the "journey" and rein himself in after the bollocking he got. He could be this year's Claire rather than this year's Michael.

I don't think so ... Sirallun has given him a bollocking every time he's been brought into the boardroom and if anything ... Ben has got more arrogant!

The other team are really clever actually. When asked what they thought of their leader ... I was surprised that they all expressed admiration for Noorel (sp). Now this is not what I expected them to say given what they had said about him during the task. Proved to me that they've learnt to play the game quicker than their opponents last night.

I did get the impression at the start of the show though that Sirallun had made up his mind from which two he was going to select the loser from. I think he would have fired either of the team leaders ... he'd hand-picked them for execution himself!

I think you're right on that one; I think Ben's outbursts may have upset his plans a little though!

yes i can deny it.... why would he design a contraption expecting it to fail? thats daft! surely his chances were better if it was a good product. tbh i blame the guys that made it... unlike the bum thing it looked crap, even the leader knew it was crap when he saw it. now i dunno what the designers spec was...but that was again upto the team leader to check...the buck stops with them, if they did their job right then no saboteur could upset the apple cart. nah... i dont buy that conspiracy theory norma... but i agree he is a sniveling little $h!t!

Well if he designed that heap of sh/t actually believing it had a chance then my opinion of him has changed. I can't really accuse hime of being arrogant and a snivelling little sh/t when it just all boils down to him being terminally stupid. Where did he say his scholarship to was? Was it some school for those that need extra help?

My family is an epic fail.

They went away to the algarve and turned off all the plugs.

So other than the contents of the Freezer melting, the Sky+ tapped jack $h!te so no apprentice for me

i dont think he did design it, not properly... his ideas were too nebulous and i suspect that he too was let down by the finished product, poor design, poor communication, poor leadership, not an underhand way of ruining the project.

I haven't read through this whole thread but I watched all 4 episodes last night on iPlayer (having not had chance to watch any of them on TV yet...) and I don't really have an opinion on the individual shows as such because there was too much to take in. BUT I have a little verdict:

LOVE: Phil, Yasmina

UNSURE: Deborah

DESPISE: Ben (Far too aggressive for his own good), James (BLITHERING IDIOT!!!), Lorraine, Nooral

FORGETTABLE: The rest.

Phil FTW, he's a little intense, but you need to be in business! He was completely right by shouting at the 2 idiots, they were just faffing around being nicey nice - that ain't gonna get you a result love! I cannot begin to describe my intense hatred for James, he's a complete idiot, i'm sick of his babying with "oh i'm so deeply hurt" GET A GRIP MATE! Everytime you get a bad evaluation in business are you going to cry? No, you can't afford to do that, accept that you were crap at things and move on and preferrably get yourself sacked. Onto Ben, I hate him because before he went into the boardroom both times he was like "yeah i'm gonna bite his teeth out if he takes me in there" first of all - WTF @ that? Then this time he was like "I'm gonna rip her head off if she takes me in there!!" - Good Lord, is there any need to be so violent? He's totally arrogant too with his "Oh I have a Sandhurst scholarship" tripe. Nobody cares mate, Sandhurst scholarship or not you're doing rubbish at The Apprentice.

And *BREATHE*.

The other team are really clever actually. When asked what they thought of their leader ... I was surprised that they all expressed admiration for Noorel (sp).

I was pleased with what Margaret said though that saying they enjoyed working with him doesn't necessarily mean he was a good project manager. He seems like quite a sensitive guy and they seemingly didn't want to hurt his feelings, I was a bit disappointed that Phil didn't tell them how rubbish he truly was. -_-

If they were trying to spare his feelings, it's a little two-faced of them. They'd all spent the whole time complaining on national TV how useless he was, it was going to come out sooner or later.

I imagine Margaret would have been rather surprised to hear them try to defend him.
