Posted April 2, 200916 yr Another Friday, and more charts by way of top films, dvds, tv, albums, the flashback charts...and the big finish later with the up to minute top singles (which this week will be done by Trevs), as I will be otherwise engaged. "Language Timothy!!!!! SORRY was in it`s first series on Thursdays. ARE YOU BEING SERVED? was in the Friday slot, as TREVOR BANNISTER (MR LUCAS) left, and in came MIKE BERRY as "BURT SPOONER". MIKE BERRY (1960s singer) was also doing pretty good alongside JON PERTWEE et al, WORZEL GUMMIDGE on ITV. EAMON ANDREWS still pulled in the Big Red Book, on Wednesdays at 7pm with "THIS IS YOUR LIFE". HART TO HART was doing the Sunday night business for ROBERT WAGNER & STEFANIE POWERS...a script largely borrowed from a 1960s series (who`s title eludes my mind at present)! :banghead: CROSSROADS pulling them in...was just about to cause a tabloids stir, because NOELE GORDON as MEG MORTIMER was about to be chopped from the Soap. In the finish, the Motel caught fire but Meg went off on a ship to New York. Viewers to UK Gold, may remember this was where they picked up the series from, when they repeated it in 1996. Repeats, pulled in viewers on THE SWEENEY and RISING DAMP. FAMILY FORTUNES was far more superior in those days, with the best host...the late great BOB MONKHOUSE, Sunday at 7.15pm (in the 2nd series, and first to feature hidden prizes). VAL DOONICAN gave us the entertainment/music/comedy on Saturday nights 8.15pm. LENA was a vehicle for the late LENA ZAVORONI. TOP OF THE POPS was gliding in, on over 13 million (Thursday 7.20pm, following TOMORROW`S WORLD as ever). DALLAS gave us all the answers, to J.R`s problems, or not! TERRY AND JUNE was also doing the business...I actually preferred Terry and June in HAPPY EVER AFTER it was more funnier, and we had Aunt Lucy and that minah bird...When will those "nice" people at the BBC repeat it, or put it on dvd? WEST END TALES was a comedy (from ATV), with the late ROBIN NEDWELL (ex-Doctor Series), GARFIELD MORGAN (ex Sweeney/Shelley), LARRY MARTYN (ex Are You Being Served/Dick Emery Show), and TONI PALMER (ex Crossroads/Rumpole/Take My Wife/Potter)...they lived over a Cafe, spending much of their time in the Betting shop (rather like me), and general ducking and diving (again like me)! This brought to mind the first series in 1981 of the biggest flop of the year...What was it? It was ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES, which practically did so bad in series 1...it really was a wonder that it managed to take DAVID JASON into 1982, let alone some 20 years. Personally I really never liked the series...Preferred JOHN SULLIVAN`s previous series "CITIZEN SMITH", which on a repeat run in 1981, did twice as well as Delboy...For me Only Fools, had to many echoes of Citizen Smith, and perhaps a tad nicked from Thames tv`s brilliant "Minder". The Albums in 1981: 01 01 KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER - ADAM AND THE ANTS 02 04 SKY 3 - SKY 03 02 FACE VALUE - PHIL COLLINS 04 07 HOTTER THAN JULY - STEVIE WONDER 05 09 VIENNA - ULTRAVOX 06 06 FACE DANCES - THE WHO 07 05 THE JAZZ SINGER - NEIL DIAMOND 08 03 NEVER TOO LATE - STATUS QUO 09 10 MANILOW MAGIC - BARRY MANILOW 10 08 JOURNEY`S TO GLORY - SPANDAU BALLET 11 12 VISAGE - VISAGE 12 NE INTUITION - LINX 13 11 DOUBLE FANTASY - JOHN LENNON 14 14 MAKIN MOVIES - DIRE STRAITS 15 NE THIS OLE HOUSE - SHAKIN`STEVENS 16 16 VERY BEST OF - RITA COOLIDGE 17 NE BARRY - BARRY MANILOW 18 13 STRAY CATS - STRAY CATS 19 19 DIRK WEARS WHITE SOX - ADAM AND THE ANTS 20 NE KILIMANJARO - TEARDROP EXPLODES Good old Adam, ay! 9 out of 15 weeks at the top of the album chart there in 1981. Early album for SPANDAU BALLET...how will the comeback go? More classical rock stuff from SKY. Down for Phil, stuck for the WHO. STEVIE WONDER bounced back up with HOTTER THAN JULY, following big success with the single "Lately". STATUS QUO still going strong. VISAGE also up and down, with the self-titled LP. LINX gave us the album of INTUITION following the single. Two more LPs for BARRY MANILOW. DIRE STRAITS up and down again. SHAKIN`STEVENS laughing all the way to the bank...number one single, and a number 3 high for the LP. The very talented RITA COOLIDGE (who appeared with VAL DOONICAN in 1981). The super sound of BRIAN SELTZER and the gang in The STRAY CATS. ADAM ANT again, and big climb for TEARDROP EXPLODES, led by Mr JULIAN COPE. A lack of VA Comps in 1981. The top one was DANCE CRAZE at 28...a Two-Tone Soundtrack LP. 1981`s Singles: 01 01 THIS OLE HOUSE - SHAKIN`STEVENS 02 02 KIDS IN AMERICA - KIM WILDE 03 04 IT`S A MYSTERY- TOYAH 04 09 LATELY - STEVIE WONDER 05 21 CAPSTICK COMES HOME - TONY CAPSTICK 06 03 JEALOUS GUY - ROXY MUSIC 07 27 MAKING YOUR MIND UP - BUCK`S FIZZ 08 14 EINSTEIN A GO-GO - LANDSCAPE 09 07 DO THE HUCKLEBUCK - COAST TO COAST 10 08 YOU BETTER YOU BET - WHO 11 17 INTUITION - LINX 12 05 KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER - ADAM AND THE ANTS 13 06 REWARD - TEARDROP EXPLODES 14 15 MIND OF A TOY - VISAGE 15 22 IT`S A LOVE THING - WHISPERS 16 13 PLANET EARTH - DURAN DURAN 17 23 D-DAYS - HAZEL O`CONNER 18 25 WHAT BECOMES OF THE BROKEN HEARTED - DAVE STEWART/COLIN BLUNSTONE 19 11 STAR - KIKI DEE 20 16 JONES VS JONES - KOOL AND THE GANG 21 12 I MISSED AGAIN - PHIL COLLINS 22 10 VIENNA - ULTRAVOX 23 31 ATTENTION TO ME - NOLANS 24 28 CAN YOU FEEL IT - JACKSONS 25 37 SLOW MOTION - ULTRAVOX 26 NE GOOD THING GOING - SUGAR MINOTT 27 41 NEW ORLEANS - GILLAN 28 NE NIGHT GAMES - GRAHAM BONNET 29 NE MY MUM IS ONE IN A MILLION - CHILDREN OF TANSLEY SCHOOL 30 19 SOMETHING `BOUT YOU BABY I LIKE - STATUS QUO 31 NE JUST A FEELING - BAD MANNERS 32 18 SOUTHERN FREEEZ - FREEEZ 33 44 UP THE HILL BACKWARDS - DAVID BOWIE 34 20 SHADDUP YOU FACE - JOE DOLCE 35 24 ONCE IN A LIFETIME - TALKING HEADS 36 42 I SAW HER STANDING THERE - ELTON JOHN/JOHN LENNON/MUSCLE SHOALS HORNS 37 36 JITTERBUGGIN`- HEATWAVE 38 38 JOHN I`M ONLY DANCING/BIG GREEN CAR - POLECATS 39 30 HOT LOVE - KELLY MARIE 40 32 CAN YOU HANDLE IT - SHARON REDD 2 out of three weeks at the top for Shaky there. Hot on the hills were the forthcoming Eurovision winners "BUCKS FIZZ". Then, there was Marty Wilde`s daughter KIM...TOYAH gave us the EP, it was definately a mystery! Told you about Stevie. CAPSTICK COMES HOME was probably the biggest surprise of the year. As TONY CAPSTICK sadly no longer with us, did his take on that piece of music from the Hovis ad. "E were a right `tato, me faddah". "We went to work, did a 72 hour shift, then walked home, through snow in `as bear feet!" The best part comes when Tony says "We could `av a night on town, buy a new ovver coat, `av a taxi ride `ome, and still `av change out of a farthing!" I don`t think!!! ROXY MUSIC got their biggest hit after "Dance Away", as "Jealous Guy" went all the way. A song from JOHN LENNON, sung by Bryan and co, as a tribute. LANDSCAPE looked promising, with the rather strange intro (the white house/President Carter etc). Unfortunately, the follow up "NORMAN BATES" didn`t really hit the big time, and stalled at the bottom of the top 40. COAST TO COAST struck gold, when they covered the ROYAL SHOWBAND`s Irish hit "The Hucklebuck". The WHO suddenly got lots of airplay, but "You Better You Bet" only got to #8. LINX stole all those apples, as mother used INTUITION. "When a child throws down a toy, hateful child, spiteful boy" sang VISAGE, as "Mind Of A Toy" stalled at#14. Disco came from THE WHISPERS, HEATWAVE, and SHARON REDD. HAZEL O`CONNER got herself another top ten hit. TONY BLACKBURN lost his street cred as he stated "Here is a new entry at #26, for DUR-RUN DUR-RUN". DAVE STEWART teamed up with COLIN BLUNSTONE to remake a JIMMY RUFFIN top 5 hit. KIKI DEE came back, and did not bank on the song being used in 1988 for BOB SAYS OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS. KOOL AND THE GANG came along with a trio of hits, on the single "Jones Vs Jones", which also featured SUMMER MADNESS and FUNKY STUFF. PHIL COLLINS "missed the top ten again!" Down for ULTRAVOX, as an older single by the group when JOHN FOXX was about. The NOLANS stormed in. The JACKSONS took forever too climb, with "CAN YOU FEEL IT". This peaked at #6 on it`s 9th week in the top 40. SUGAR MINOTT gave us some good time reggae. GILLAN along with Ian, gave us some GARY U.S. BONDS/HARLEY QUINNE stuff. More heavy stuff from GRAHAM BONNET ex-MARBLES/RAINBOW/MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP. We all remember the CHILDREN OF TANSLEY SCHOOL...Actually I don`t remember it at all, let alone sing it! :o BAD MANNERS were entertaining, as BUSTER BLOODVESSEL gave us "Just A Feeling". If you bought one of those glossy pop mags circa `81, you got a floppy green disc featuring both BAD MANNERS, and BOOMTOWN RATS. FREEEZ didn`t holiday on a cold day in Bournemouth, for the SOUTHERN FREEZ on the dancefloor! DAVID BOWIE went UP THE HILL BACKWARDS...A clever trick if you can do it! It didn`t work out to well, as he peaked at #33! THE POLECATS took another BOWIE song for part of a double A side...with "John I`m Only Danicing". TALKING HEADS were about to lose the girls, who formed THE TOM TOM CLUB. DJM issued a 70s live recording from ELTON JOHN in yet another tribute to JOHN LENNON, peaking at #36. KELLY MARIE tried to cut her first hit, for a third time...slightly off with the bagpipes! ^_^ As SHARON REDD slipped to top 40 waterline with "Can You Handle It". As we looked outside the 40, and NEW ORDER`s "Ceremony" slipped, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS missed with "Just Fade Away", ORANGE JUICE missed with "Poor Old Sole", and less we forget...CRASS and "Nagasaki Nightmare". So, to the pre-orders: The top pre-order singles 01 WRONG - DEPECHE MODE 6th Apr 02 SO HUMAN - LADY SOVEREIGN 6th Apr 03 I`M NOT ALONE - CALVIN HARRIS 13th Apr 04 NO TIME FOR TEARS - ENEMY 13th Apr 05 MERCURY SUMMER - FIGHTSTAR 6th Apr 06 DANIEL - BAT FOR LASHES 07 SUNNY DAYS - KID BRITISH 6th Apr 08 EVERY WORD - ERCOLA 6th Apr 09 LET ME BACK - ZARIF 6th Apr 10 ART BRUT - ALCOHOLICS UNANIMOUS 6th Apr I don`t expect either of the 9 - 10 there, to get into the top 40. Whether T2/MICHELLE - COME OVER might, it`s a matter to consider. Two to watch are CAMERA OBSCURA with "FRENCH NAVY" (Released 13th Apr), and JAMES FOXX with "SAY WHAT YOU LIKE" (Released 27th Apr). Personally awaiting VELVET - CHEMISTRY (27th), and CHOCOLATE PUMA - ONLY LOVE CAN SAVE ME (20th) to do it. A later in the pre-orders is TINCHY STRYDER - NUMBER 1, another to watch. And we must put SHENA in the top ten with "Can`t Stop The Rain". I edge my bets, that it will eventually be a number one, across the board. This week`s #1 on 7Digital, last week`s #1 on HMV...Come on iTunes, what`s up? It can get to be as big as the Scissor Sisters "I Don`t Feel Like Dancing", if given half the chance...Airplay is picking up, even Tony Blackburn`s playing it! The top pre-order albums: 01 NOW 72 - VARIOUS 6th Apr 02 SELDOM SEEN KID LIVE AT ABBEY RD - ELBOW 6th Apr 03 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN - GREEN DAY 15th May 04 KINGDOM OF RUST - DOVES 6th Apr 05 SONGS OF THE UNIVERSE - DEPECHE MODE 20th Apr 06 IT`S BLITZ - YEAH YEAH YEAHS 6th Apr 07 RELAPSE - EMINEM 18th May 08 2 SUNS - BAT FOR LASHES 6th Apr 09 SOUTHERN GRAMMAR - MORRISEY 27th Apr 10 MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE - ENEMY 27th Apr We kind of messed up with Elbow, last week on Next Week`s Album Chart...because we already ajoined the pre-orders to the original album, and had it in the top 3! But never mind, it will be there next time! Although combined, NOW 72 will. NEIL YOUNG is just outside the pre-order top ten with FORK IN THE ROAD, another Monday release. Biggest grower is FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE, and LUNGS. That one not released until 6th July! :o Got to shoot off now, but stick around for Trevs...as the top singles will be coming soon (hopefully for 7pm)....
April 3, 200916 yr Kids In America  and I had a big crush on Kim Wilde with posters on my bedroom wall of her, those were the days, her best single to date, and I so wanted the track to go to #1 instead of Shakin Stevens, thanks Dave And welcome back Trevs.
April 3, 200916 yr Thank You Dave. I know he`s going to Aintree (that`s his secret out). No secrets in my house! By the way, thanks to all those people that sent me Christmas wishes (some 3 & a half months since). I haven`t signed in here, since last August. Ooh, and Dave: Hart To Hart was nicked from The Thin Man. Which was a 50s series. Even had a dog in it, not Freeway though. I suppose we`d better get into those remaining Singles and whatnot. Before that though. Can I tell everyone to put this link in their browsers? www.livehits.co.uk The stream provides a more accurate average of sales from iTunes, over a 24 hour period every 3 hours. How about the top Physical hits in Britain this week: 01 01 Right Round - Flo Rida 02 04 Dead & Gone - T.I. 03 02 Islands In The Stream - Jenkins/West/Jones/Gibb 04 03 Show Me Love - Steve Angello 05 ne Kingdom Of Rust - Doves 06 06 Just Can`t Get Enough - Saturdays 07 ne Tonight Today - Jack Penate 08 07 Headz Shoulderz Kneez & Toes - K.I.G. 09 09 My Life Would Suck Without You - Kelly Clarkson 10 08 Fallin` Down - Oasis 11 14 Don`t Upset The Rhythm - Noisettes 12 12 Love Story - Taylor Swift 13 13 In For The Kill - La Roux 14 18 Shake It - Metro Station 15 05 Love Etc - Pet Shop Boys 16 10 Can`t Get Over - September 17 11 Up All Night - Take That 18 15 Breathe Slow - Alesha Dixon 19 16 Beautiful - Akon 20 17 Farewell To The Fairground - White Lies Commiserations to Twisted Wheel. Who did actually manage a top 30 physical with We Are Us, and they probably are. I noticed reading back on all those fan-dabi-dozi posts by Dave, that he now usually does a Download Top 20. Well, I`m not because this week it`s exactly the same as the combined chart. How those downloads have taken over since I last posted at Buzzjack On to this Combined Physical & Download chart. Which is compiled on a sample of info from Chart Show tv, with added sales up to Friday at 5pm. Dave being on the edge, digs around every week to get this info, hot off the press. In other words THE MOST UP TO DATE CHART IN BRITAIN!!!!!!!! We will take a look at some info from the bottom 25 of the top 75 first, with a bunch of high flyers: 52 Bat For Lashes - Daniel 53 Be On You - Flo Rida 57 Run - Leona Lewis 58 Stuck With Each Other - Shontelle & Akon (again) 64 I`d Come For You - Nickelback 67 Low - Flo Rida (He won`t go away) 68 My Delirium - Ladyhawke 72 Beautiful Dirty Rich - Lady GaGa (again) 73 Paris Is Burning - Ladyhawke (not Paris Hilton is it) Blink 182 appear to about to re-enter the top 75, with some old song too. Also in that respect Mia is 35, MGMT 36, Katy (Hot N` Cold) 37, Katy (Thinking Of You) 38, Pet Shop Boys 39, & Britney Spears has a Circus at 40..then it`s Comic Relief (who have the over all biggest faller this week), Beyonce, Take That, Royksopp, and Pink (Sober). = Is the position on Chart Show tv (Chart Show top 20 videos, Saturday 9-11am, Sky 365). The Lady does it again. I think many people are saying, how come GaGa is No. 1 because Noisettes have been No.1, on iTunes all week. That don`t mean a thing. Infact Noisettes are not No.1 anywhere else. So, they are closing in. The physical of it does nothing at No.11, and GaGa is released on the 13th April. Dave still waits for Shena..and waits and waits. Edited April 3, 200916 yr by trevs
April 3, 200916 yr Woah PSB are not even top 50 :( Yeah, ouch  Thanks Trevs, even more detail than Daves regular presentation! I hope he can post it this way in the future...

April 3, 200916 yr Good to see you back Trev. It is going to be an interesting chart especially outside of the Top 10.

April 3, 200916 yr thanks trevs, good to see you back! Interesting that the top 20 combined is just the same as the downloads chart, there's probably next to nowhere left that sells CD etc singles any more. And the fad of releasing 7" singles appears to be dying out too as sales in that format are in steep decline once more. I wonder what % of sales iTunes now account for? If the Noisettes don't end up #1 on Sunday yet have been #1 all week at iTunes I think it shows that sales elsewhere (e.g. amazon) are rising faster and are taking a larger market share.

If the Noisettes don't end up #1 on Sunday yet have been #1 all week at iTunes I think it shows that sales elsewhere (e.g. amazon) are rising faster and are taking a larger market share. Thanks Robbie! Probably a good thing other download sites are pushing up. It certainly improves the chart, and looking like 9 new entries in the top 50. It can`t be bad!

That's the Fresh Hits chart right? Nice to see Gaga holding up... well actually the whole top 7 really! I think this is going to be quite a slow chart for the next couple of weeks...

April 4, 200916 yr i think J Hud will be kicked out 2moz as she's 46 on itunes and falling within days in the singles so i'm thinking Britney, AAR, James or GA to replace her but i hope she can hold on :D
