One of the WORST weeks in the Top 10 singles chart for quite some time.

Only Lady Gaga & Alexander are passable.

:cheer: :cheer: @ 3 Eurovision songs in the Top 50 - Good to see the Eurovision album storming in at #14 too

anybody know how it did in previous years in comparison!?! I guess quite a few people picked it up this week as it's the only place you can get Fairytale on CD at the moment

The 2009 UK Chart 'impact' of Eurovision is the best in Years, but it is nothing compared to 1974's Contest:,

1) 'Waterloo' - ABBA - 1st in the Contest - UK No.1 Hit (Sweden)

2) 'Si' - Gigliola Cinquetti - 2nd in the Contest - UK No.8 Hit, as 'Go (Before You Break My Heart)' (Italy) *

3) 'I See A Star' - Mouth & MacNeal - 3rd in the Contest - UK No.8 Hit (The Netherlands)

4) 'Long Live Love' - Olivia Newton-John - 4th in the Contest - UK No.11 Hit (UK)

* = Gigiliola Cinquetti had previously Won the 1964 Contest with, "Non Ho L'età" ("I'm Not Old Enough") - a UK No.17 Hit (Italy)

Yet another crap #1. The last good #1 was Poker Face

Believe it or not - the last time a non-UK/Irish Eurovision winner made the Top 10 was back in 1982 - Nicole - Ein Bisschen Frieden (A Littel Peace) - Winner Germany and eventually peaking at #1.

1 Dizzee and Armand = 2*m

2 BEP - Will, Apl, Taboo, Fergie = 3*m, 1*f

3 Tinchy and N-Dubz - Fazer, Dino, Tulisa = 3*m, 1*f

4 Em = 1*m

5 Dan = 1*m

6 La Roux - Elly, Ben = 1*m, 1*f

7 Lily = 1*f

8 Soulja and Sammie = 2*m

9 GaGa = 1*f

10 Alex R = 1*m

Total: 14 men, 5 women

Wow :o

If you're going to count the male in La Roux you should probably count the female who sings on 'We Made You'...

I'm only counting credited artists.

La Roux is a male/female duo, so they are both credited. Charmagne Tripp on We Made You is not credited.

Believe it or not - the last time a non-UK Eurovision winner made the Top 10 was back in 1979 - Hallelujah by Milk & Honey - Winner Israel and eventually peaking at #5.

The last non-UK ESC winner to make the Top 10 was Johnny Logan in 1987 with 'Hold Me Now' which reached #2. He was born in Australia and won the contest for Ireland :D

if you are going to count credited people you would have to count other producers and writers that are credited. Ben is just the producer for La Roux, Elly's mum said on loose women "my daughter is at #2 under the alias La Roux on the hip parade". So technically La Roux is only Elly.

I think you're missing my point.

The artist credited is 'La Roux', not 'Elly from La Roux'. La Roux is a duo, of Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid. Therefore, I count Ben.

due to removing Alex's download for a while, made people think it wasn't there making it slump in at number 10 and lost its only chance of doing well! shame yohanna didnt make the top40, means she didn't get an airway play so won't do any better next week now =[ hope she releases it here... poor jade, but it's the $h!t song... if she comes back with something better, shell be fine!

As has been said last Non UK ESC Winner to reach our Top 10 was 'Hold Me Now' - Johnny Logan - Ireland (1987) - A UK No.2 Hit

But, the last from Continental Europe was 'A Little Peace' - Nicole - West Germany (1982) - A UK No.1 Hit

'Hallelujah' by Milk & Honey - Israel - was the last, (& 2nd), from Asia! (A UK No.5 Hit in 1979)

The 1978 Winner was also by Israel - 'A-Ba-Ni-Bi - by Izhar Cohen & Alpha Beta (A UK No.20 Hit)

Shame there are no more Eurovision entries apart from Alex, Jade and Yohanna in the top 75, and shame the last two are so low :(

There is another one in the Top 100 - Germany's entry - Miss Kiss Kiss Bang by Alex Swings Oscar Sings! at #85

Also 'Lose Control' by Waldo's People scraped top 100.

On the subject of top 100, is there anywhere on the internet where I can find an archive of top 100 singles charts?

I'm not sure if Music Week archives them, I've never subscribed to it.

Oooh...great to see Katy Perry entering, and Jade hanging onto Top 30. And, thanfully, Soulja boy, not as high as I expected :drama:

There is a site which lists archives of the complete UK charts. It only has them on for 5-55 years ago in 5 yearly intervals on the corresponding weeks due to permission.

They are updated every weekend. You can see them HERE

There is a video (where available) of the number 1 single that you can play.

Also there are chart archives of other countries charts such as: USA, Australia, Germany etc.

There is also www.chartstats.com, which I believe has the full charts from since they started in the 50's.
