Last week if you`d have followed us, you would have got 8 in the 10, 17 in the 20, 28 in the 30, and 34 in the 40 on the Combined Albums. While on the singles we had 9 in the 10, 18 in the 20, 29 in the 20, 39 in the 40, and 46 in the top 50. Back in June 1987, Radio Luxembourg came up with this: (As presented by Peter Anthony on Sunday 7th June 1987) 01 NE I WANT YOUR SEX - GEORGE MICHAEL 02 02 I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY - WHITNEY HOUSTON 03 04 JACK MIX II - MIRAGE 04 01 HOLD ME NOW - JOHNNY LOGAN 05 16 VICTIM OF LOVE - ERASURE 06 06 FIVE GET OVER EXCITED - HOUSEMARTINS 07 08 WISHING I WAS LUCKY - WET WET WET 08 18 GOODBYE STRANGER - PEPSI AND SHIRLEY 09 10 SERIOUS - DONNA ALLEN 10 05 SHATTERED DREAMS - JOHNNY HATES JAZZ 11 09 NOTHING`S GONNA STOP US NOW - STARSHIP 12 29 I STILL HAVEN`T FOUND WHAT I`M LOOKING FOR - U2 13 20 NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN - BEASTIE BOYS 14 27 NOTHING`S GONNA STOP ME NOW - SAMANTHA FOX 15 NE IT`S TRICKY - RUN DMC 16 25 LUKA - SUZANNE VEGA 17 23 YOU`RE THE VOICE - JOHN FARNHAM 18 24 LOOKING FOR A NEW LOVE - JODY WATLEY 19 22 KEEP ME IN MIND - BOY GEORGE 20 NE IS THIS LOVE - WHITESNAKE 21 21 INFIDELITY - SIMPLY RED 22 RE IT`S NOT UNUSUAL - TOM JONES 23 07 BOY FROM NOWHERE - TOM JONES 24 NE WHEN SMOKEY SINGS - ABC 25 03 INCOMMUNICADO - MARILLION 26 NE UNDER THE BOARDWALK - BRUCE WILLIS 27 12 BORN TO RUN - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN 28 11 ORDINARY GIRL - ALISON MOYET 29 13 BACK AND FORTH - CAMEO 30 19 BIG LOVE - FLEETWOOD MAC Radio Luxembourg got 25 in the 30 in 1987. What a hot summer that was. George Michael did not get the Official #1...but it was never played anyway, though Luxembourg did! Independant Radio played a different track "Bad Day"...couldn`t understand why they played that one. Johnny Logan won Eurovision, a 2nd time. Confusion from Mirage, as Jack Mix II, suddenly brought us Jack Mix III. Both sounding much alike. Gallup listed them together, Independant Radio did not. Pepsi and Shirley were definately the girls from Wham! Wet Wet Wet scored first time. I preferred Johnny Hates Jazz...real class. Two similar titles by Samantha Fox and Starship. Donna Allen was a Tampa Bay cheerleader, formerly back up singer on Gloria Estefan records. Last heard of she did some work with Jennifer Lopez. Could we have joined Run DMC, with the Beastie Boys? Jody Watley broke away from Shalamar. Luxembourg certainly were "Over Excited" by the Housemartins current release, as it peaked at 11 Officially. The return for Tom Jones...Tom Jones Syndrome, yep "It`s Not Unusual!" ABC were back, and singing about Smokey Robinson. Radio Luxembourg missed the Firm "Star Trekkin" this week, but they were there on the following week...a record first heard on the Adrian Love afternoon show on Radio 2. Luxembourg were also, a bit dire because they missed Chris Rea, too! "Let`s Dance" also made it on the next week.
June 1, 200916 yr Author Thanks Dave! Wow, Pet Shop Boys top 20! Do you think they can hold it all week? In a word it`s not unlikely, but to be honest...it look`s like they can not get any higher than #16 all told. But lots of versions available and downloads too.
June 1, 200916 yr Paolo, Dan and Paul will definitely fight for the #1 spot :) EDIT: Placebo must stay Top 75. :( Edited June 1, 200916 yr by FunMaker11
June 1, 200916 yr I hate songs that return to #1 it looks so messy, let's hope BEPs don't do it. I hope Kasabian does well than #4. And why is Human going back up  Nothing that exciting in the Retro chart but I do love Luka by Suzanne Vega and Serious by Donna Allen, and the classic track by U2.
June 1, 200916 yr Author BTW, Paul Potts appears twice in the album chart Nos 4 and 20 Cheers Martin, explained why there was 2 number 30s!
June 1, 200916 yr I hate songs that return to #1 it looks so messy, let's hope BEPs don't do it. I hope Kasabian does well than #4. And why is Human going back up  I don't agree, but I would much prefer to have Agnes at number one! As for Human, stunning performance on Jonathan Ross last Friday. So I think it will drop long before Sunday, I doubt it's even on the mids tomorrow...
June 1, 200916 yr Eugh at Kasabian being at #4 while Placebo aren't even top 50. The record-buying British public is an absolute joke.
June 1, 200916 yr Hoping Enter Shik can get a slightly better position than that as it rapidly climbs up iTunes. Carolina should be top 40 this week I would assume. Daniel Merriweather for #1 please D: Hope PSB hold at least top 30 :D
June 1, 200916 yr I hate songs that return to #1 it looks so messy, let's hope BEPs don't do it. I know its well annoying it should be Agnes  Edited June 1, 200916 yr by RobDeMusicMan
June 1, 200916 yr Pet Shop Boys Top 20: that is truly a miracle in itself! Miracles happen when they're around :kink:
June 2, 200916 yr why shouldn't songs return to No.1 if they are genuinely the most popular tracks :o Hips Don't Lie spent 4 weeks at the top on its second stint compared to its initial 1 week run...I think we can safely say that the song deserved to climb back to No.1  The thing with most songs that go back to No.1 is not the fact that they have suddenly regained popularity, moreso that the other songs around them have fallen in popularity more quickly...didn't Call On Me go back to No.1 in 2004 with some ridiculously low sale? still, if Boom Boom Pow is once again the most popular track in the UK, then without a doubt it should be No.1
June 2, 200916 yr It has every right to be to be honest, it's mostly the BGT effect, but some people like me might have only just got into it, for that reason...
June 2, 200916 yr Kasabian may well take over Black Eyed Peas at the rate it's going at on iTunes :P Edited June 2, 200916 yr by B-rye
June 2, 200916 yr Kasabian may well take over Black Eyed Peas at the rate it's going at on iTunes :PKasabian will be no higher than number 3 IMO. I think Dizzee and BEP's are just a bit too far for anyone to catch them...
