June 4, 200916 yr I can't find anything new that I like enough to send :( Looks like I'm going to have to go cheap and DNQ :(Send Zarif? ;o She can't be deemed as "cheap" :heehee:
June 4, 200916 yr Send Zarif? ;o She can't be deemed as "cheap" :heehee: It screams DNQ though, surely.
June 4, 200916 yr It screams DNQ though, surely. Surely the point of the contest is to introduce people to new music and not just enter whatever you think will come top10
June 4, 200916 yr Surely the point of the contest is to introduce people to new music and not just enter whatever you think will come top10 That's just an excuse for flopping :P
June 4, 200916 yr That's just an excuse for flopping :P I've only missed one final :P Ashton has confirmed Cinderella Theory, all our other acts are free
June 4, 200916 yr Surely the point of the contest is to introduce people to new music and not just enter whatever you think will come top10 I'm not thinking about coming Top 10, but I've got to think about qualifying, surely!
June 4, 200916 yr why? Qualification is nice, but it's not the be all and end all. Maybe i have a different attitude thanks to my DNQ
June 4, 200916 yr Just to think for everyone - what those wins/Top 10's bring you? Money, trophies, respect? Only the latter works, but on AN INTERNET FORUM?
June 4, 200916 yr forget about the top ten record Rob...honestly it means nothing in comparison to the joy of introducing somebody to a brand new artist/song that they love  surely Discotheque coming top 5 gave you a great buzz :o cheapness really isn't the best way to go to get a hit...it won't give you any buzz I couldn't care less about coming 6th in the first spin off with Robyn, however coming 6th (again) in the second spin off with Marilou was
June 4, 200916 yr Just to think for everyone - what those wins/Top 10's bring you? Money, trophies, respect? Only the latter works, but on AN INTERNET FORUM?  I want to see a contest one day where even Mdice, Quotosibb, Nonsuch etc...throw caution to the wind and send something completely ridiculous just because they love it and for no other reason

Hell, Colour Me Dirty qualifying was amazing, then being as high as 5th in the voting was epic even if it fell to 14th. Thats the entry i'm most proud of, especially seeing as Red Blooded Women themselves called me "The Mighty Ashton"
June 4, 200916 yr I want to see a contest one day where even Mdice, Quotosibb, Nonsuch etc...throw caution to the wind and send something completely ridiculous just because they love it and for no other reason  Me too. I'm sure, for example, if Ben sended the song he really loved most despite the DNQ possibility he'd flop most of the time :kink: But, once again, indie vote is becoming more heavy in each contest though. :o
June 4, 200916 yr I'd love to send Noisettes again, but Never Forget You (arguably the best on the album) flopped, so it doesn't give me a good feeling. I guess it's easier once you've DNQ'ed?

You no longer feel as much fear for flopping. A bad run is good in a way. If your perform mediocre, but you've sent tracks you arse rape, then at least you've introduced people to a new track. I was so proud of Molly

HELL LOTS! I noticed that many times songs, that got appeal from most of people, DNQ (Vincent, Mira Craig) than even some acts that go through but finish bottom 5 (my entries before DNQ's :( )
June 4, 200916 yr Author Tbh, I find it alot nicer DNQing than finishing near the bottom. With Ana/BoA i probably would have preferred a DNQ. But yeh, it is alot better once you've experienced it :P
June 4, 200916 yr Just to think for everyone - what those wins/Top 10's bring you? Money, trophies, respect? Only the latter works, but on AN INTERNET FORUM?  It brings neither of these things, but it's always nice to win, i'm sure you know that. HOW you win is completely different though, winning with a song barely anyone has heard will give you far more of a "buzz" than winning with Boom Boom Pow....
June 4, 200916 yr BJSC IX: DNQ BJSC XII: DNQ BJSC XIV: DNQ BJSC XV: DNQ BJSC XVI: DNQ + UK #10: DNQ :o
