Posted July 18, 200916 yr There is always a weekly thread, on what you buy every week, but where do you purchase them from, especially singles as there is very limited places where you can actually buy a physical single these days. My local specialist store has actually closed down now. I can't think of any other options to add from the poll list.
July 18, 200916 yr I usually download singles, but if I buy a single these days it's usually from HMV. That said, the only singles I've bought on CD in the last 5 years are Leona's "Better In Time/Footprints In The Sand" (for the new edits and B-Side) and September's "Can't Get Over". (for the Wideboys radio edit) The first was before I knew how to find them illegally online and the second because I couldn't find the Wideboys radio edit anywhere online. :(
July 18, 200916 yr I've just started using on-line stores but I download as well now (maybe voting for more than one could have been an option). Norma
July 18, 200916 yr I've increasingly been using online stores in 2009, but still made the odd purchase in store. The last CD single I bought in an HMV store was Work by The Saturdays, a couple of weeks ago. When I went there yesterday, there were no more singles being sold. :( So now I'll have to turn to online 100%. This is only for the acts I really like though. I generally download my singles now, either from iTunes, 7Digital or Amazon. Edited July 18, 200916 yr by -Jay-
July 18, 200916 yr I download everything, mostly from iTunes, but sometimes from 7Digital (if it's much cheaper, or I have Paypal money). If I really want a physical (last one I bought was Agnes) it's HMV all the way :)
July 18, 200915 yr HMV or hmv.com. But i rarely have the money these days. I wanted to buy the Agnes single today and wasn't expecting HMV to sell out of the 2 they had left because of the 46 that it takes to make like #16 apparently. They'd both been bought. :( So i settled for Bulletproof && 15 Minutes. :)
July 18, 200915 yr HMV, well it's the only shop that sells them now...although it's mainly the big HMV stores that stock them, some of the smaller ones tend not to have them.
July 18, 200915 yr I haven't bought a physical CD since JCGE because it was for Comic Relief. But i usually only buy them when they are Sugababes. I tend to download my music from Amazon or itunes but recently my amazon download thing hasn't been working so it's just itunes atm.
July 18, 200915 yr For CD singles on the high street - it's HMV as they are the only ones with an updated current stock, and the last I bought from there over the counter was "Shark In The Water" by VV Brown to complete my personal chart #1s collection. Online - it's one of - http://www.recordstore.co.uk/ http://www.banquetrecords.com/index.jsp http://www.normanrecords.com/ or HMV.co.uk All have great selections of the most obsure CD/7" singles, though only HMV offer free delivery.. :P Edited July 18, 200915 yr by Doctor Blind
July 18, 200915 yr When I *rarely* buy a CD single I'd get it from HMV Same here. It's the only place that actually still does them.
July 18, 200915 yr Amazon - I usually download the songs for free first, then get a 'proper' copy later in case the computer goes belly-up and it all gets lost! I probably still get 8 or 9 every couple of months to keep the collection up to date :)
July 18, 200915 yr I havent bought a CD single since 2007 (JoJo - Anything) but when i did, it was usually from Woolworths but now if i want to buy any CD its from HMV. Ive only recently started to download legally since i got my iPod in December, do i find it easier? yes. But i prefer all the extras you used to get with the physical CD.
July 19, 200915 yr I 99% of the time download them not, although I do tend to buy the songs that reach No.1 in my chart if a physical CD becomes available (My Time, Release Me, Knock You Down for example) and I bought Pixie Lott because I wanted to hear the b-side which wasn't available on iTunes...I get them from HMV if I do get them though
July 20, 200915 yr Popped into HMV (Bullring in Brum) today and it appears they've stopped selling singles, i know some of the smaller branches have already stopped and looks like this one has joined them. However the main branch in new street may still have them although i didn't go in there. It's not looking good for the cd single.
