September 3, 200916 yr I hope the sugababes can overtake and get back to number one, the deserve/need it! It's a joke that Kanye, Rihanna, JayZ can release any old crap together and it can get to number one just off their names... people should go out and back the british girlgroup and get them to number one. Isnt that a bit hypocritical to criticise people for buying a song just because of who sings it (jay-z and rihanna) and then asking people to download a different song because of who they are? (sugababes)

September 3, 200916 yr Isnt that a bit hypocritical to criticise people for buying a song just because of who sings it (jay-z and rihanna) and then asking people to download a different song because of who they are? (sugababes) I agree completely. It was a highly unintelligent comment to make.

(sugababes) I wasn't criticising people for buying the song just because of who sings it was i... as i also said 'any old crap'.. which i consdier the song to be =] I prefer the suga's song, and like it when british talent is supported rather than powerful american celebs always outselling everyone else even when they aren't as good.. that was my statement, not that people should buy something just because they are british.
September 3, 200916 yr that was my statement, not that people should buy something just because they are british. people should go out and back the british girlgroup Explain? Edited September 3, 200916 yr by B-rye
September 3, 200916 yr Explain? 'people should go out and back the british girlgroup' I was just stating that they are a british girlgroup and that powerful american celebs can release anything and do well when they join together and release a song and that people should (Who like the song obviously) go out and buy the song if they like it as it's a good song, and the sugababes need the success more than JayZ/Rihanna/Kanye do as they have been doing rather badly for a while, whereas if JayZ/Rihanna/Kanye don't get to number one it won't go against their careers as much as it would the sugas, so people who like them should go and buy it, as it'd be a bad thing if we lost more british talent due to not buying their music when they come out with a good song... not that we should only buy them because they are british, but because it is a good song also... need anymore explaining? =S

I agree. It is common sense for a nation to back its own, otherwise if you are not careful there wont be a British music industry left. For those posters who don't know or can't remember between 2002 - 2004 there was a deliberate and highly controversial protectionism policy (post 9/11) applied to US radio for a brief period of time which meant that new or unknown non US based acts such as the likes of the Sugababes and Girls Aloud stood less than zero chance of breaking into the US market compared to the Spice Girls nearly a decade earlier because they could not even qualify for a performance visa.

Just needed some clearing up. And yeah, that explanation will do. :D
September 3, 200916 yr "it is a good song also". This is your opinion, many others do not share it, they feel that "Run This Town" is a good song, so why is it right for you to tell them not to buy that song, just because Rihanna etc.. already have hits? We can buy and listen to whatever songs we want, everyone has their own tastes...
September 3, 200916 yr I agree. It is common sense for a nation to back its own, otherwise if you are not careful there wont be a British music industry left. UK music is doing wonders all over the world, and even more in the US recently, so there's nothing to fear. Plus it's not like the Sugababes needed any extra support to survive, they have a #2 in the bag with VERY strong sales, so playing the nationalist card on the Jay Z VS Sugababes battle is quite stupid. It's not like if the Babes were going to get dropped if they're #2... Edited September 3, 200916 yr by Bert for Lashes

I never knew that =O That's terrible, i like the fact that we do get american music in the UK, but i do think it can prevent many Uk acts from having chart success just because american acts, who may not be as good, have more money put behind them.

Anyway it's their/their management's fault that they are doing badly.
September 3, 200916 yr I obviously mean't the people who like it should go out and buy it, not people who don't. So basically you're saying that people who like the song should buy the song, and the people who don't like the song shouldn't. Wow thanks for that. Edited September 3, 200916 yr by Bert for Lashes
September 3, 200916 yr No but he is right because there is a lot of people who will like a song but will just get it illegally, he wants all those people to buy the song.
September 3, 200916 yr No but he is right because there is a lot of people who will like a song but will just get it illegally, he wants all those people to buy the song. Yes but I don't think making such statement will translate into anything. "Alright people, stop downloading illegaly from now on because that harms their chances of going #1". If it was that easy, illegal downloading would be dead for long now.
September 3, 200916 yr I thought sex on fire would fade of during the week but its look set to stay top 10 now, Any sign of take that in the album top 40 or girls aloud out of control???

If it was that easy, illegal downloading would be dead for long now. But then in an ideal world, no one would illegaly download/buy music and everything would always be bought legally and so all would be fair in love and war. (I hope this makes sense - i'm sort of drunk)
