BJSC 07: Gavin Mikhail - Fight The Sky DNQ

I found Gavin by some guy randomly messaging me about a year and a half before I started this contest. The guy messaged me saying he saw that I was a fan of Kelly Clarkson and stuff and said I should check out Gavin Mikhail. I'm REALLY glad I did! Fell instantly in love with his songs, so when I joined BJSC I just knew I should send him. - Not that it worked <_<

----------------------------------

BJSC 08: Kate Nash - Skeleton Song 13th

This has always been my favourite Kate Nash track. One day I just had an urge to play the album again and then I knew I had to send it.

----------------------------------

BJSC 09: Twiins - I Dont Know Why 18th

AAAHHH! One of my favourite own discoveries. Why it flopped I don't know :snif: But I found this on Yootoob. I saw the track in the "Video's being watched now" section and I accidentally clicked on it. The best accident ever for me? Maybe!

----------------------------------

BJSC 10: Katy Perry - Self Inflicted 18th

Similar to Kate Nash, although I'd only just downloaded the album. 'Self Inflicted' was an instant favourite. However the more I look back, the more I think I really should have sent 'Hot N' Cold' :(

----------------------------------

BJSC 11: Britney Spears - Everytime (Hi-Bias Remix) 27th

This was a time where I had completely no idea of what to send. So started looking through my Singles collection for ideas and re-discovered this gem  I don't regret sending it, but I wasn't particularly fussed about where I'd finish with it either...

----------------------------------

BJSC 12: Gavin Mikhail - Brave DNQ

See the first Gavin Mikhail entry

----------------------------------

BJSC 13: Yolanda Adams - I Believe DNQ

Similar to Britney. No idea what to send, but was just scooting around some old compilations and found this amazing track. Loved the film and the song, so I just had to send it. I honestly thought it'd at least qualify though -_-

----------------------------------

BJSC 14: Rihanna - Hatin' On the Club 26th

Now it's time for a "What was I thinking moment?" This had just leaked but looking back it really had flop written all over it (even though it's Rihanna) I found it in the Rihanna forum. :)

----------------------------------

BJSC 15: Keri Hilson feat. Ne-Yo & Kanye West - Knock You Down 10th

My most favourite entry to date (shocker :kink:). The album had just leaked and this particular song just needed to be sent. The thing that annoyed me the most is that people started liking it more, as soon as they had voted :arrr: but oh well, it gave me my best finish and wasn't on the release schedule until the Final -_-

----------------------------------

BJSC 16: The Yeah Yous - 15 Minutes 26th

I found this song as Popjustice's song of the day around the time I sent Rihanna, but it didn't leak in full until a few weeks before it's release date. I'm quite meh about this. It probably got the result it deserved in all honesty.

----------------------------------

BJSC 17: LeToya - She Ain't Got Shit! 6th

WOO! This came as a shock. Jark linked me to some blog and told me to download it, as soon as I did, I knew it had to be sent. I was just waiting for Aled to drop her from his reservations so I could have her, thank God he did :D!

----------------------------------

BJSC 18: Solange Knowles - Cosmic Journey DNQ

Another one of those "didn't know what to send etc..." but Aaron (and Harve I think) said I should give it a bash even though it was quite a risk at being 6 minutes + long.

----------------------------------

BJSC 19: Kristinia DeBarge - Sabotage 18th

The very early favourite ended in disaster! :heehee: Found this in a topic on this site. Had to send it, but about 3 or 4 others wanted her aswell so it was a quick reservation!

----------------------------------

BJSC 20: Cindy Gomez - Again & Again NYK

GAHHH! SO SO SO Happy with this find  I love this song to pieces (although I know it won't be doing as well as I want it too :snif:) I found this a few contests before actually, but the song never connected with me. But then it did. I found her using Last FM's "Similar Artists" tool.

None discovered from last.fm, shocking.

BJSC 07 : Solange - Sandcastle Disco // 8th

I think Mikal linked me to this through msn. Really nice summery song and I just thought it'd be perfect ... didn't have much of a clue with it being my first contest though.

BJSC 08 : Little Jackie - The World Should Revolve Around Me // 2nd

I just remember hearing/seeing it on radio and TV waaay earlier than it's initial release and I instantly fell in love with it and thought it had to be sent. One of my cheaper entries but also my most successful so who cares?!

BJSC 09 : Danity Kane - Bad Girl // 22nd

I had their album downloaded for quite some time but this was always my favourite from it. I think the video had just been released for it [which is immense btw] so it just had to be sent. Thought it would've done better too tbh. :(

BJSC 10 : VV Brown - Crying Blood // 7th

I'll be honest, I found this through the Pop Forum on here and I instantly fell in love with it, probably not the best way to find your own entries but meh who cares?! :P

BJSC 11 : Jessica Mauboy - Running Back // 22nd

Found this through a friend on msn who isn't on this forum. Fell in love with it straight away and although I knew it wouldn't do too well because of Flo Rida it just had to be sent!

BJSC 12 : Jessie Malakouti - Trash Me // 10th

This was actually just a random find on youtube! :o Probably one of my proudest entries to date too because I found it all by myself, it's not my favourite by any means though.

BJSC 13 : Jazmine Sullivan - Dream Big // DNQ

Erm I actually can't remember now! :P I thinkt it was posted through here in the R&B forum and I actually thought it'd do quite well, obviously not though.

BJSC 14 : Kesha - Backstabber // DNQ

Another random find on youtube, obviously not as successful as Jessie though and looking back it was quite a weak song. I dunno what I was thinking, I still kind of like it though but it is one of my least favourite entries.

BJSC 15 : Paul Oakenfold; Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussycat // DNQ

Just a random search through my iTunes I think and came across this gem. One of my most uninspired entries to date but I still love it and was annoyed it DNQed.

BJSC 16 : Paloma Faith - Stone Cold Sober // DNQ

This is a huge  HOW DID THIS NOT QUALIFY?! moment! I heard it through 4Music/Radio 1 way before it's initial release and thought it was perfect for BJSC ... obviously not though.

BJSC 17 : Black Eyed Peas - Missing You // 26th

Had just downloaded the album and this was my favourite track from it. I think I was just thankful I had qualified by this time!

BJSC 18 : Cobra Starship ft. Leighton Meester - Good Girls Go Bad // 4th

One of my favourite entries and one of my songs of the year too actually so it just had to be sent! Found it through my admiration for Leighton Meester and was suprised in how it was SO good and when the video was finally released for it that's when I decided to send it.

BJSC 19 : Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi // 22nd

Found it on downloading website, spillitnow and had adored 'Pro Nails' and 'Beeper' from her so I thought I'd check it out and I was not dissapointed, I know it didn't do too well but I think it got a few people into the song (Xylem & Cremey namely) so I'm thankful for that at least!

BJSC 20 : Cassie Davis - Do It Again // 1st ?? :kink:

Like Jon, a similar artists on last.fm thing, through Jessica Mauboy of all people [their both aussie is the only connection?!]. So glad I found it, I think it's absolutely amazing and I'm hoping it can give me at least a Top 10 position.

I knew i bloody recognised that name :drama:

Her singles were all over HMV like a rash when i was in Brisbane  Quite chuffed i've finally made that connection ^_^

Right, lets have a go at this:

BJSC I || Sugababes - Push The Button || 8th

Pretty straight forward, i'm a hardcore Sugaloon and i couldn't think of a better way to start than with my favourite artist. And i get away with this being hideously cheap coz it was the first contest. It also has the record for the shortest time between becoming UK #1 [prior to contest] and entry at 2years.

BJSC II || Laura Critchley - What Do We Do || 21st

Thank you Sugababes. Laura was one of the Overloaded Tour support acts. I quite enjoyed her set, so got her album when it came out. I kept an eye out through myspace and saw that she was releasing this and had put a video out. After finding out i couldn't use Mutya she got the nod. It's a ballad though, so flopped. Even in II ballads flopped.

BJSC III || Mutya Buena - Addiction || 16th

Pretty similar to I. Mutya went solo, i kept tabs on her material and sent this rather lush demo track that shamefully didn't make the cut. One of many of Mutya's rejected demos. The ones that have leaked to date p*** over approx 70% of Real Girl. Addiction is one of the 'rarer' of Mutya's demo's.

BJSC IV || Dragonette - True Believer || =9th

Once more, thank you Sugababes. As with Laura, Dragonette were the Babes Overloaded Support act. Galore is easily the album of 2007, and with I Get Around having been sent by Jonny in II and me not quite know how to make/upload youtube videos at the time, Jesus Doesn't Love Me was out the window so True Believer got the nod. Easily my best entry in the first 5 contests.

BJSC V || Sugababes - Hole In The Head [Live +Amelle +4th Verse] || =4th

Having had two bad results, i decided the babes needed to be back to get me back into the top10. So before the IV final had begun i went hunting for the perfect Sugaentry to help me. It just so happened that the babes forum had a favourite live performance discussion and the set from the Pepsi Stage in Amsterdam came up with HQ full clips online it was a done deal. Decided to go with Hole In The Head for the live only 4th verse. I backed up my decision to go with a former #1 by using 1] a live version and 2]a live version with Amelle oh, and 3] the 4th verse. First top5 was the result. I have no regrets and would enter it again at this early stage.

BJSC VI || Lily Allen - I Don't Know || 2nd

I finally wanted to send Lily, and was pretty much set on Mr Bluesky, until this appeared on her Myspace along with I Could Say. I fell in love and used it straight away. By now i was getting the hang of things so, fresh leak, not so popular artist on BJ [the AF was dead] perfect BJSC entry. If Aaron had entered one month later.......

BJSC VII || Red Blooded Women - Colour Me Dirty || 14th

Saw them on popjustice as song of the day, so added them on Myspace. A while went past and stumped for a follow up to I Don't Know went searching through my myspace and saw their myspace and found this. Fell in love but it nearly never was after i found it wasn't online. So, because i really preferred this to the other track so i went hunting online for how to rip stuff from myspace. This is my favourite entry to date, and quite an iconic one for Ashton.

BJSC VIII || Gabriella Cilmi - Got No Place To Go || 7th

It's another Sugarelated find. Gabriella was the Change support act for Glasgow. I fell in love with her and bought the album the second it came out. I knew i just had to enter her, and i passed her over the month before so here we are. Lessons To Be Learned is one of the best albums i own.

BJSC IX || Amy MacDonald - Barrowland Ballroom || 9th

Found Amy Mac at T in the Park, bought the album and this was one of my faves from the album.

BJSC X || Sugababes - Never Gonna Dance Again || DNQ

Sugaloon, Sugababes AF Mod, i'm sure i don't have to go into this decision any further

BJSC XI || Gabriella Cilmi - Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now || 8th

Couldn't wait to get Gabriella back, this time with my favourite Cilmi track. Debut of the Artist X term. Of course found in the same way as her earlier entry.

BJSC XII || Red Blooded Women - You Made Your Bed || 20th

Pretty much see VII. Found this video on their youtube and entered it almost straight away.

BJSC XIII || Lorelei Carlson - Alone || 16th

Went hunting though Myspace music for a track that could win for me. Stumbled across this and the catchy chorus just hit me. So glad i entered this, i adore this track.

BJSC XIV || Lily Allen - Back To The Start || 17th

Lily Allen AF Mod, new album, as with X, it's pretty self explanatory.

BJSC XV || Haffi Haff - Give Me Sexy || 23rd

Decided to try the Scandinavian route and came across a blog with Haffi on it. Followed the link to his Myspace and it just clicked. First male, i knew it wouldn't be universally loved but it really strengthened my commitment to Risks FTW

BJSC XVI || Alex Roots - Don't Stop Looking || 5th

Myspace find. 6 tracks on the player, loved 5. It took me 3 months to select which one to send. For sure made the right choice with most people citing this as my best entry.

BJSC XVII || Nevio and Gabriella Cilmi - Non Ti Aspettavo || DNQ

Quite fancied entering Cilmi again, and went hunting though Youtube for the old demo i had heard but not favourited and accidentally found this. I had to have a wee listen because of my Cilmi loondom. About 45seconds in i had decided to enter it. I'm still completely gutted this DNQ'd 6months on.

BJSC XVIII || Delta Goodrem - Electric Storm || 18th

Coming back from Australia Zoo with my former flatmate she had a FM transmitter for her iPod and i got to DJ. Threw some Delta Goodrem on because she loved her and i quite liked her. We spent most of the long drive back listening and i learnt $h!t loads about her Aussie success and what the tracks were about. Fell in love with 5tracks, Electric Storm seemed like the best track as it was the most uptempo. :( I miss Australia and my flat.

BJSC XIX || Cinderella Theory - IN2U || 23rd

Found this on Myspace about the same time as RBW. The song i wanted disappeared before i could rip it. Chance find a few months ago lead to it's contention for XVI and then it got bumped for XVII and XVIII before getting the nod. Gutted it flopped, i really hoped it would do quite well. I really love this.

BJSC XX || Tone Damli Aaberge - Butterflies || TBC

Found this thanks to Jerick, who was going to enter this before NF gate. after considering it a few times done it this time and i'm getting great odds, woop!!!

BJSC XXI || Dolly Rockers - Boy Will Be Boys || TBC

Loaded youtube, found this under recommendations. Fell in love with this instantly, and shall be entering this next time.

6 months on? it wasn't that long ago was it :o Robots In Love won XVII and it was only 3 months ago

here's mine;

I - Delta Goodrem - Believe Again - 17th - discovered it on her forum probably when it leaked...it had already spent ages at #1 in my chart, by far the best track from my favourite singer's new album...at the time (as I hadn't read the rules properly), I was under the impression that a picture video with the song in the background wasn't permitted, hence me sending the live version as there was no official music video at this point. Went on to spend 12 weeks atop my chart, I adore this song, nobody else did, reminds me hugely of my final year of uni :snif:

II - Natasha Bedingfield - Stumble - 18th - first discovered this in 2005 when I bought Natasha's US version of the Unwritten album, it was one of the new tracks and I loved it...I had to send it, little did I know that I'd kick start the 'Natasha curse', although I also started the 'Delta curse' the month before

III - Andreas Johnson - Glorious - 8th - everyone knows this, I discovered it in 2000 along with everyone else  god knows why I thought it would be a good entry, but the contest was in its early days!

IV - Sara Bareilles - Love Song - 1st - discovered this via MySpace in October 2007, in the coming months, the song grew and grew on me, and eventually went top 5 in the US. It was finally at this point (after it had already been in my top 5 for about 4/5 months) that it clicked as a BJSC entry! Was stunned that it won as I'd paid very little attention to the contest beforehand and the fact that I'd have to host the next one made me very serious about it!

V - Sibel - Make Believe - 8th - loved her MF entry, That Is Where I'll Go, so I bought her album and this Delta sounding track stood out, how I managed to get a ballad into the top ten on BJSC is a mystery  This is my least favourite entry to date though, I got bored of it quite quickly :(

VI - Untouched - Smack Me - 5th - discovered this via MusicWeek which I had a monthly free subscription to at the time, was on a CD that came free with it showcasing artists from the Liverpool Art Academy  the CD was awful, apart from this one song which was so instant that I felt the need to pull BJSC back out of its hiatus to send it :heehee:

VII - Maria & Mira - Mine All Mine - 3rd - Hold On Be Strong was my favourite entry of ESC 2008, bought her album, reserved her, listened to her album, this song stood out high above all of the others, end of story

VIII - Thermostatic - Driving - 19th - somebody on another forum introduced me to this song, I loved it too and thought it would make a good host entry seeing as it was different to everything else I'd sent!

IX - Sanna Nielsen - Nobody Without You - 4th - loved her MF entry, Empty Room, so tracked down her album, this song stood out so I sent it :D

X - Mira Craig - Headhunted - DNQ - randomly youtubing Mira who I'd grown to love since Mine All Mine, this video instantly caught my eye for obvious reasons and the song just had to be sent! I didn't see the backlash coming at all, I remember proclaiming something ridiculous like 'if PCD or Rihanna recorded it, it would be a worldwide #1'...although I guess that could be said about most urban songs entered into BJSC :heehee:

XI - Pixie - Boys & Girls - 3rd - MySpace threw up this song that would be a future UK top 2 hit (Pixie for #1 tonight please :w00t:) almost a year later. She seemed to be a nobody, her profile wasn't anything special and hadn't had many views, but this track stood out from all of the other demos (another one of which was Mama Do which I dismissed quite quickly!)...was pleased with this though as I loved it and it seemed very BJSC! Her success this year has astounded me!

XII - Vincent - Miss Blue - DNQ - heard this quite a while before I sent it via youtube searching I think...thought it was time for a change but it didn't go down very well unfortunately...:(

XIII - The Sound Of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C. - 2nd - discovered via Popjustice's Song of the Day if I'm honest! it had a free legal download link so I thought I'd give it a listen - I fell in love instantly and knew that I HAD to send it

XIV - Uh Huh Her - Not A Love Song - 1st - first heard this summer last year when I randomly downloaded it from some MP3 site because I liked the name of it  gave it another listen when searching for entries and after a long period of choosing between this and Janet's throwaway ballad Let Go, I think I made the right choice

XV - Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum - 6th - after the great fallout of XV, I dropped Britmasu's XX entry, Pixie's Here We Go Again in favour of this, that I had discovered whilst searching for Icelandic music for a contest on another forum...decided to send the track to both contests, it came 2nd on there and 6th on here :D

XVI - Blänk feat Young Ivy - I'm Going For Your Brother - 10th - I had confirmed something else but I heard this thanks to the 'This Must Be Pop' blog about 10 minutes before confirmation closed and knew I had to send it, it was oddly charming for a rap/dance crossover and is still a very proud result. Their album, You've Never Been To Sapmi is just as good by the way, love love love it

XVII - Beautiful Small Machines - Robots In Love - 1st - credit to the 'This Must Be Pop' blog again, this was #3 in her favourite songs of the month, I always listen to anything I haven't heard in her top 5 as I know the girl who writes the blog from uni and know she has excellent taste...this one jumped right out in my face and screamed 'BJSC winner' and I fell instantly in love with it too which helps :heehee:

XVIII - Example - Watch The Sun Come Up (Neon Cloud Edit) - 25th- first heard this when I saw him supporting Calvin Harris in May, this song was 100 times better than any of the others, so uplifting, I had to wait for ages to get an MP3 from his MySpace, and then it was only 2:25 so I tweaked the song around a bit to make it 3 minutes long and called it the 'Neon Cloud Edit' :heehee:

XIX - Hafdis Huld - Kongulo - 14th - somebody on another forum introduced me to this, I instantly fell in love with it

XX - Anna Abreu - Music Everywhere -? - well for the first time ever, I found this entry on Buzzjack! Aaron (not BJSC Aaron), posted a topic about it in the pop forum which approximately 2 people replied to (me and Tom :heehee:), and I fell in love instantly despite the completely tacky lyrics...I've always been more of a music than lyrics fan though so I can't say it bothered me at all...

XIII :: Elin Lanto - Discotheque // 4th - I'd seen everybody talking about how Agnes had it wrapped up, so I was watching Release Me before the contest, and Discotheque was on the 'Related Videos' section, I instantly fell in love with it, and knew I had to send it. My favourite ever entry.

XIV :: Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm // 6th - The Mazda advert basically, wasn't sure what it was called, found it on Popjustice, and as soon as Mdice released it, I just knew that I had to send it. I'd not stopped singing all that day at school.

XV :: Kim Leoni - Medicine // 3rd - Another Popjustice find, if I'm honest, I was trawling through all the past 'Song Of The Day' songs, this was on about Page 7, and for some reason, the title just grabbed me, I listened to it, and thought another dance entry wouldn't hurt. Turned out my highest finishing song to date!

XVI :: Booty Luv - Say It // 9th - This site! Everyone was talking about it on this site, and saying there was going to be a big fight over it, so I listened to it, and realised just why everyone was fighting over it. Amazing, amazing song. Don't regret sending it, despite it's cheapness.

XVII :: SamSaya - Money // 12th - I found this through Jerick, he sent me the song because he was going to send it, and I loved it. He confirmed it, but dropped it for Cascada, and I loved it more than Samantha, which I was going to send, so I thought, why not?!

XVIII :: Ghostcat - Everybody On The Dancefloor // DNQ - I was so clueless, I looked in Tom (Kingdom Of Shadow)'s national thread, and found this song. I immediately thought it was great, and thought it was something a bit different for Hendinia. Obviously not a good different, much to my disappointment.

XIX :: Mini Viva - I Left My Heart In Tokyo // 5th - I found Mini Viva through The Saturdays! They were supporting The Saturdays in concert, I loved them, came back home to see if they had anything out. They didn't, but when I Left My Heart In Tokyo leaked in full, I didn't like it. It grew on me so so much, and it was instant to me that this was the perfect entry. Love it, and it's going TOP 10! :w00t:

XX :: RaVaughn - Problem With Love // Probably 29th - I was listening through the many demo's for Rihanna, and I came across this, which is the best of the lot, in my opinion. After lots of deliberation, in my London hotel room, I just thought - sod it! Hendinia went RnB, it will backfire, but I think the song is great and very catchy.

XI - Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch

My sister was into Ladytron and I just decided to download them, and this is the first song of theirs I downloaded.

XII - Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

Again, my sister was into them, but I didn't really know their music, until I found their stuff in my Dad's computer in Estonia. I think either my sister or cousin had put the songs into the computer. So I guess I listened, liked, and made copies. I think this was my first favourite Massive Attack song. Now it's probably "Teardrop" :P

XIII - Hooverphonic - Mad About You

My sister was into them again lol and she recommended them to me. I liked them straight away and made CDs.

XIV - Alanis Morissette - Straitjacket

No, not through my sister this time. I have been into Alanis for years and I got the songs of the latest album and this is one of them.

XV - Au Revoir Simone - Dark Halls

I was looking for indie pop songs on last.fm radio and this came up.

XVI - Halou - Political

I discovered the band (who are now working on other projects) through a trip-hop website, triphop-music.com. You used to be able to listen to samples of some of the artists' songs, but I don't see that feature anymore. Anyway, one day I just listened to their stuff on my iPod and I discovered I had this song on it, and I fell in love with it.

XVII - Regina Spektor - Samson

I am into some female singer-songwriters and I guess Ms. Spektor came up a lot in music recommendations. Also, I saw in Orkut (a social networking site) that my cousin recommended her to her sister and I thought I might give her a go. So I got some songs and this was one of them.

XVIII - Röyksopp - This Must Be It

I've been into Röyksopp for a while now and I discovered that they have a new album. So I started listening to the new songs on YouTube, and this was my favourite, I think.

XIX - Did not enter.

XX - Pogo - Expialidocious

A childhood friend had this on their Orkut page and I listened to it and liked it a lot.

UK #10 spin-off - R.E.M. - At My Most Beautiful

My Dad gave me 2 of their CDs and this song was kind of brought to my attention by my cousin (the one who Regina Spektor was recommended to :P) and I found it beautiful too.

YouTube had met me with this perfection. I wanted to send something different than just 'electro-pop' as i typed in the search ( :kink: ) so i thought another language would overshadow the fact of it being electro-female song and would put originality and risk. My first DNQ. Was pretty sad. :(

BJSC VI: Beverley Knight - Black Butta (Live On Jools Holland) - 1st

Was looking on Youtube for live performances by Bev and came across this. It's one of my favourite songs by her anyway, so I thought I had show this excellent performance to more people, decided to finally see what the BJSC was about and send it. Good choice.

BJSC VII: Estelle - No Substitute Love - 24th

Figured that sending something I loved for my first month worked well, so I thought I'd send the track I loved most from Estelle's new album. Turns out it was to be a single and no one liked it anyway.

BJSC VIII: Sara Bareilles - Fairytale - 16th

Thought I'd go for a more Pop orientated sound after the disaster of Estelle. I'd recently bought her album and "Fairytale" stood out as the best track by far. Still flopped, wasn't sure why actually, it's so catchy and charming. Only got 4 more points than Estelle.

BJSC IX: Santogold - You'll Find A Way - 11th

Decided that trying to chase the Indie vote and also trying to appeal to Pop voters was the way forward. Listened to bits and pieces from her album and this was a highlight for me, don't think it quite got approval from the Pop voters but 11th was a pleasing result after the previous two disasters and bad odds. Was a bit gutted it tied with the 10th placed song as I wanted to be more than a one hit wonder.

BJSC X: M.I.A. - Jimmy - 4th

See above. Listened to both of her albums and this was easily the track with most crossover appeal. Obviously appealed to more people as it gave me my second top 10 finish.

BJSC XI: Robyn - Dream On - 5th

Was originally going to send Alicia Keys, but Mark put the idea of Robyn in my head. Was either gonna go for "Konichiwa Bitches" or "Cobrastyle" but Ben introduced me to this and I fell in love right away. Didn't know it was getting a release at all, had to upload the version I wanted to Youtube.

BJSC XII: Little Boots - Stuck On Repeat - 11th

Not gonna lie, she was getting a bit of end of year hype due to Sound Of coming up etc. and thought I'd track down her best track. It was suggested that I could or should go for what became "Earthquake" (which Ben sent and finished much higher with D:) but I found that to be quite pedestrian and this is still her stand out track to me. I guess sending a full out Pop song by her was always gonna be more successful than thismore subtle number.

BJSC XIII: A.R. Rahman ft. M.I.A. – O… Saya - 9th

Was absolutely stuck this month, didn't have many ideas. Saw that Ben was considering this, something I'd heard but never considered as a BJSC entry and decided I'd send it if he didn't. I also said this about Tyron and N.A.S.A. that month, glad the right person dropped the right entry for me to scoop up.

BJSC XIV: September - Can't Get Over - 2nd

Again, clueless. Was all set to send Tegan & Sara but saw Uh Huh Her and The Veronicas were being sent (who are sorta what Tegan & Sara are a cross between) and decided something more Dance-Pop was called for. Unfortunately it was a future release but I really love it and wish I could have discovered it sooner as I would have sent it before it was cheap. :( Discovered on Youtube I think.

BJSC XV: Video Villain - Paranoia - 12th

Rich stepped aside and I ended up hosting this one, so I decided to bring out everything I'd ever bottled out of sending including Solange, High Places (who would both DNQ in future contests), Tegan & Sara and an old Janelle Monae track. Decided that this was the riskiest option and that I should just go for it. Shocked at how well this did, was flopping for most of the results but got a lot of unexpected 12s. Don't think it's a very well remembered entry of mine. Discovered on Myspace after finding out this is what happened to the other Dead Disco girls.

BJSC XVI: David Guetta & Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over (Electro Radio Edit) - 4th

Suspected this would be a hit after I sent it, but wasn't aware it'd be a huge #1. On the positive side, I sent a different edit of the version played on the radio. Was going to send Tegan & Sara again, this time it was the overwhelming amount of indie tinged females being sent that made me switch. Discovered in the Dance Forum on here. :(

BJSC XVII: Tegan & Sara - Back In Your Head - 19th

Decided to finally send this, then it autoqualified due to strange circumstances. Ideally I'd have changed my entry to something else, but perhaps it was for the best, looking at the result? Discovered via Last.FM similar artists.

BJSC XVIII: M$ney - Future - 19th

Was clueless, finally decided to download this song that I'd heard the previous November and rediscovered how brilliant it was. Honestly thought this was one of my best entries ever, rather disappointed in how it did. Discovered in the R&B Forum.

BJSC XIX: Brandy - Afrodisiac - 16th

Actually discovered this in 2008 around the "Human" era. Was a real BJSC low for me, this was a last resort entry and it was my last resort.

BJSC XX: David Guetta & Estelle - One Love - ??th

As soon as I saw the tracklisting for his album, I knew I'd have to send this or another one of the tracks as soon as it leaked. Two of my former artist collaborating, it was made for me.

Interesting topic JONJO.

VII / The Saturdays 'If This Is Love'

Discovered it from Jark I think :heehee: I still have no idea why this flopped.

VIII / Janet 'Feedback'

Again the Jark influence :( Enforcing me to download discipline where I found this delightful treat <3

IX / Sneaky Sound System 'Pictures'

JARK STRIKES FOR THREE. Jark tends to make me download things. Sometimes I love them. This was one of those times.

X / Lady GaGa 'Paparazzi'

After Mikal's looning RE: GaGa, I downloaded the album when it leaked in the States and whilst people disliked this on the album I thought it was fabulous and wanted to enter something that wasnt Poker Face :P

XI / Kate Voegele 'Hallelujah'

Mikal linked me on youtube

XII / Lesley Roy 'Im Gone, Im Going'

Another MKL cast-off, they introduced me to it agees before but having never sent it gave it to me to use :heehee:

XIII / Ana Johnsson 'Coz I Can'

Found this one via the Last FM similar artists tool, while I thought it was great, others clearly disagreed :(

XIV / Amy Studt 'Nice Boys'

Lol MKL init.

XV / BoA 'I Did It For Love'

See SSS :kink:

XVI / La Roux 'Bulletproof'

OK, not my finest BJSC moment I admit, but when it leaked it was AMAZING and I just KNEW it had to be entered... was surprised it came second really :heehee:

XVII / Steph 'Computer Sensing Love'

I was so busy preparing to host XVII, I forgot to look for an entry :heehee: Jrkoff CAST OFF.

XVIII / Nicole Statements 'Taller'

MY PROUDEST BJSC MOMENT <3 I had literally nothing, and I was scouring blogs a couple of hours before the confirmation deadline when I came across this beauty. Easily my proudest entry as I discovered it all by myself :)

XIX / Taio Cruz 'Break Your Heart'

More a case of f*** this, i have nothing else, rather than discovery...

XX / YENN 'So Good To Be Wrong'

Ask Tyron :kink:

Blood sweat and tears have been the making of all my entries to date. Checking blogs, music websites and taking note of artists who may have potential in the future. Even if you find someone who hasn't released a BJSC winning song yet, doesn't mean they won't produce a gem at some point in the future ^_^
Oh God, James, you depend on Mikal/Jark so much :( What else do they make/force you do? :(

no wonder there is this 'R&B bloc', it's just Mikal, Jark, James (and probably Jonjo) throwing songs around to each other on MSN :heehee:

to Aaron; I thought that Gravity, City and Love On The Rocks were better than Fairytale, but Little Voice was my 2nd favourite album of last year so I adored Fairytale too  Sara came up as a question on Weakest Link the other day :heehee: 'Sara Bareilles had a top ten album in the UK in 2008 with; Little Voice or Little Girl' or something similar

BJSC09 :: Bjork: Joga || 25th - My all time favourite artist, with an absolutely beautiful song  had it for years!

BJSC10 :: The Knife: Heartbeats || 06th - One of my all-time fave songs, my brother introduced it to me.

BJSC11 :: Crystal Castles: Vanished || 25th - Friend used to listen to them, then downloaded the album and this was one of the highlights.

BJSC12 :: Santigold: Say Aha || 09th - One of my fave artists of 2008; wanted to send her in my first contest; one of my highlights from the album.

BJSC13 :: BoA: Eat You Up || 11th - Found it on youtube a while back I believe.

BJSC14 :: Royksopp: Happy Up Here || 18th - It had leaked and I adore Royksopp so had to send them <3

BJSC15 :: The Count and Sinden Feat. RyeRye: Hardcore Girls || DNQ - Jake sent it to me on MSN at the end of 2008.

BJSC16 :: EliZe: Can't You Feel It || 14th - Found it on a site I use for free mp3s, randomly clicked on the link without knowing what it was, and turned into this epic song <3

BJSC17 :: Jennifer Lopez: What Is Love? || DNQ - It had leaked a few week before I thinks, and it really grew on me, and knew people don't really like JLO but this song is amazeee, should have qualified tbh.

BJSC18 :: Did Not Enter.

BJSC19 :: Justice Feat. Uffie: Tthhee Ppaarrttyy || DNQ - Came across it when searching for Uffie at start of year, and it was release around Jan '09 too ^_^

BJSC20 :: Wynter Gordon: Renegade || TBC - Have been following her for a while, and think I just downloaded it off an mp3 site
