Predicting the 29/06 to 05/07 chart

This chart is over-driven by Ed Sheeran songs

After 17 consecutive weekly turn overs, Ella Henderson finally put an end to the run as 'Ghost' spent a second week at #1, despite very tough competition from 5 Seconds of Summer's second single. It seem it is possible for a similar situation to occur this week as Ella still battles on for another week at #1, with new release 'Gecko (Overdrive)' by Oliver Heldens and The Voice contestant Becky Hill being strong competitors, as well as Ed Sheeran's 'Sing' who may re-climb to #1 following a slight chart manipulation involving instant grats (yeah, stay well clear of thinking too much about it). This is likely not to be the last of Ed Sheeran in this week's chart, as all the songs released as chart-ineligible instant grats are allowed to chart this week and 8 of these currently stand in the iTunes Top 40. Elsewhere, new entries should include Example's 'One More Day (Stay with Me)', Austin Mahone's 'Mmm Yeah' (featuring Pitbull) and Dimitri Vegas, Martin Garrix & Like Mike's 'Tremor'.

It was obvious that Ed Sheeran would be looking at a #1 album, but judging from the success of his many instant grats on iTunes last week, it seems he could potentially beat the 168k Coldplay sold to gain the 2014 record for best #1 sales! Elsewhere, the Top 40 is looking pretty quiet for new entries, with just Mastodon and Hawk House being possible entries.

NO SALES INFO

Oh god ^^ 8 out 21....think ill give the chart a miss this week though I'm expecting a lot of these to dro by sunday

I'm really hoping Oliver Heldens could just sneak a week at the top but I think Gecko may have to settle for a number 2 debut :)

I'm excited to see how well Example does this week as he's still top 5 on iTunes which I never expected!

8 out of 21 singles  must be a record to have 8 tracks by an artist inside the top 40, if they stay there.

This week's update is going to be so easy to do with hardly new albums in the top 40, there maybe a few obscure ones for today though.

8 out of 21 singles  must be a record to have 8 tracks by an artist inside the top 40, if they stay there.

Michael Jackson had 13 of his tracks inside the Top 40, following his death.

Let us pray at least half of these tracks miss the top 40 (unlikely I know but still)
So around 70K for the album first day :| WOW.

Coldplay's first day sales were 82k, so :P Seriously though, that's really good for Ed. He should get around 130-140k by the end of the week.

Michael Jackson had 13 of his tracks inside the Top 40, following his death.

Ooops... I should have known that, how did I miss it, completely forgotten

8 out of 21 singles  must be a record to have 8 tracks by an artist inside the top 40, if they stay there.

For a living artist, at least...

It's not an impressive achievement, it's very much "engineered success" courtesy of his label unfortunately.

Even if it is "engineered success", I doubt there are any others, if any, who could replicate Ed's success like this.

Aren't the majority of the sales of the album tracks legit this week though (apart from Sing which was Sunday's instant grat)? So it is quite an impressive achievement imo as the majority of the sales this week for those songs will be single track downloads (aside from those tagged to pre-orders of the album on Sunday).
Ed Sheeran is the artist I'd least want to have 8 songs in the top 40. He's like the male Dido (I like her but only in small doses).
