Country name: Alteria (pronounced All-tear-ee-a)

Capital City: Ezra

Population: 23,000,000 (although almost half the population have expressed a desire to emigrate to Brooklyn)

Currency: Motif (100 mots make a motif)

Religion: It is widely believed that due to the Alterian people's desire to be "unique" and "quirky", there are just as many different religious denominations in the country that there are people. The religion with the most adherents is Jarethism, believe that the wig that David Bowie wore on the set of the film Labrynth contains the secrets to the meaning of life. There are only 16 followers of Jarethism in Alteria. However, none of them have ever met each other, and all of them came across their philosophy on their own, leading credence to the claim that Jarethism is indeed the one true religion. Catholicism is the second biggest religion, with 11 followers.

Sounds like the name of a popstar likely to represent Israel at this years Eurovision. :D

Not sure what your stance is on pop music so I suspect your votes will be going to the more indie/rock entries.

Isn't that a pokemon? WELCOME.

I didn't realise there was a Pokemon with that name, I can assure you it was a coincidence. And anyway, the Pokemon is spelt Altaria.

Alteria's first entry to the BJSC LI is Belfast band Hologram, with their single "Fight or Flight".

Known locally for their anthemic piano-rock, the group are set to go stratospheric after it was announced that one of their songs will feature on the 2013 Brit Awards CD. Alteria hopes that many other countries will pick up on the group, in the hopes of gaining some street cred.

After being absent since contest LI, due to the nation declaring a war on chronology, the glorious nation of Alteria will be making its return to BJSC 67.

Our national entry will be revealed soon.

Alteria's entry for BJSC 67 is...

Malibu Shark Attack! - Better off as Friends

Malibu Shark Attack! are a duo consisting of Belfast producer and ex-Oppenheimer member Rocky O'Riley and Atlanta based rapper Tribe One, with "Better off as Friends" being an ode to their former projects

Ahead of the announcement of Alteria's first BJSC entry in over a year, the country's selection committee has been forced to deny rumours that the song picked for entry to the contest has been influenced by a defector from Séyetana, after the name of the artist & song competing was briefly leaked to the local press and found to be very out-of place compared to previous Alteria entries (for legal reasons, we can't name the track in question, but will do so when the time is right).

These rumours were described as "scurrilous" & "untrue" by the selection committee, and those who started the rumours were subsequently rounded up by the local Alterian Music Police, and forced to say 50 "Rebel Rebels" in repentance for their sins.

Ha! You have me intrigued.

Good to see you back regardless, I still rather enjoy that Malibu Shark Attack track.

All the comebacks this month!

Persephonia welcome the latest return from hibernation for Alteria and look forward to another entry from them in ~3 years. :D
