December 18, 200916 yr Author I saw a lot of pages on which others use your work. I copied many times what you wrote and searched this on google, because I was looking for artists for lower positions. Its nice to know my stuff gets around :D could use a different style though... how lazy -_-
December 18, 200916 yr Perhaps some good news for Joe: A staggering 15 million people are expected to hit the shops tomorrow for last-minute gift buying on 'Panic Saturday'. It is predicted to be the busiest retail day of the year, with High Street takings set to top £2billion. Sales figures suggest that millions have delayed their Christmas shopping until the last minute in the hope of picking up a bargain, and stores are now promoting significant price cuts on a wide range of gift items. Shopping malls and stores will extend their trading hours in the coming days, with some staying open until midnight. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...in-hunters.html Edited December 18, 200916 yr by outlook
December 19, 200916 yr As of 5pm this evening, Joe McElderry's The Climb is 19K ahead of Rage Against The Machine What's your source please? Says who? Dave's handy chart work
December 19, 200916 yr I have a strong feeling that Joe will be the no1 single tomorrow. I hope he isnt though.
December 19, 200916 yr Oh and another point to make, physicals would do a whole lot better if they were stocked in all the shops that joe is stocked in. If supermarkets stocked physicals, sales of them would rocket. Its so easy to pop something in a trolley while you are walking round a supermarket, its a whole lot more effort to go into your local town and walk right into the back corner of some hmv shop somewhere and queue up to pay for one single item. The whole reason Tesco and Asda stopped selling singles in the first place was because sales dropped so low it was not worth their while - Even with the 20% market share they commanded of CD single sales - Even in its dying days Woolies relegated CD singles into a cardboard stand. The fact is bar a big release [Charity, X-Factor etc,] the format is totally dead and commands less than 2% of total single sales even though HMV and their on-line operation still stock them.
December 19, 200916 yr "At the end of the day, while actually achieving the Number 1 spot would be a huge bonus it is to some extent irrelevant. Our main goal was to prove what the Christmas race and the UK Music Scene as a whole could and should be. There should be discussion and arguments, excitement and fun, variety and choice, and in all genres from pop to hip hop and classical to heavy metal, both fans and record labels standing behind their artists supporting them and propelling them to new heights never before imagined. Not just one form of bland karaoke being spoon fed to us by Lord Cowell from atop his mountain of cash because it costs the least to produce and generates the most short term profit for the fat cats at the top." From - www.saveourmusicindustry.com Can we really blame Cowell though? He has been laughing for the last few years - Nobody [Artist or record company] has even attempted to really get behind a song to challenge the XF dominance he has had an easy ride - Their is no chart battle even this year from outsiders its just Sony Vs Sony for the top spot
December 19, 200916 yr I found these figures... not sure if their legit but... RATM 366,567 JOE 377,195 :).

And im sure Sony are rubbing their hands together - Instead of having the Christmas #1 with 300,000 sales they now have the Christmas #1 & #2 with well over half a million sales
December 19, 200916 yr :yahoo: Hope they are true figures! And im sure Sony are rubbing their hands together - Instead of having the Christmas #1 with 300,000 sales they now have the Christmas #1 & #2 with well over half a million sales  I think so. Alot of RATM campaigners are saying they're 11K behind now and must keep buying until Midnight.

December 19, 200916 yr I think so. Alot of RATM campaigners are saying they're 11K behind now and must keep buying until Midnight. Well, I've just purchased a fourth unique version of KITN form iTunes - I have the one from the normal album, the one from the 2 album digital box set, the one from the Q Music album and the live version. Might buy a bit more of it later today.

December 19, 200916 yr Hope the figures are true and not just a 'ploy' to get both fanbases downloading in mass again
December 19, 200916 yr I think so. Alot of RATM campaigners are saying they're 11K behind now and must keep buying until Midnight. There are probably alot of people buying two or three copies...x factor will no doubt win due to the physical cd being widely available. pity really, am sick of the x factor dominating our xmas charts each year with a $h!t song
December 19, 200916 yr Author I found these figures... not sure if their legit but... RATM 366,567 JOE 377,195 :). I'm a bit weary of these, usually there isn't any sales info for Saturday  so please take these with a pinch of salt.
December 19, 200916 yr I'm so BORED of this supposed "battle". Joe will be number 1 on Sunday. His physical sales will win it for him. I'm not a huge fan of "The Climb" but I'd rather hear it over Rage Against The Machine any day. The only winners here are Sony BMG...possibly 800,000+ sales in one week from the top 2 singles alone. In the unlikely event that Joe doesn't make number 1 this week, then there will be nothing to stop him doing it the following week when RATM drop like a lead balloon. Number 1 or 2 to outside the top 40? I really don't get why people waste their money on a download that they will NEVER listen to. Use that money to legally download something that you do like and will listen to. This won't stop Simon Cowell going for the Christmas number 1 next year, or the year after.... zzzzzz well said you're so right... i'm sure that Simon Cowell came up with this whole RATM thing just to generate more interest in Joe's 'The climb' I'm positively sure that without this campaign, Joe would've hardly sold 100.000 copies.... but with the RATM fight, Joe will at least sell 500 K by the end of the week...
