Avenged Sevenfold up to #36 - yeesh, I know there's hype around them due to The Rev dying, but I didn't expect that to equate to #36 and climbing for their comeback single.

The King Blues up another 1 to 59, Katie Melua up to 25.

A 50s rock 'n' roll style cover of a Rihanna song by a relatively unknown German band is charting higher than a Radio 1 B-list #6 radio airplay followup to the 2nd highest selling single of 2010 so far off an album that didn't even sell that much.

That is one of the longest sentences that does not contain any punctuation other than the use of an apostrophe around the first n of the sentence which does not really count anyway as it does not break up the sentence into noticeable chunks that I've seen for a long time and definitely one of the longest sentences that has ever been posted on a UK Chart Chat forum.

:kink:

I made it long on purpose to emphasise how much of a flop UB has been.

BTW, that sentence could have used some parentheses which I've added on ;o

I hope this weirdo cover of Brolly gets a few more sales for Rihanna's in the process ^_^

The original version is currently at #277, but I can't tell if the Baseballs cover has helped it or not due to not knowing whereabout it was before

It's so depressing. :( I mean, it's not like it's a bad song. It's very uplifting, and a feel-good tune.

I've not actually heard it on the radio though, apart from when it was premiered on Radio 1.

Owl should be doing some promotion for the thing if he wants success. It wouldn't hurt to have a few TV appearances, however if he doesn't want success or fame or recognition then I suppose it's not too bad. 'Fireflies' was only #1 because it was Song of the Day on iTunes and it got big in America.

Yeah, Fireflies got self-advertized on the Internet really well, and by the time it got to the UK, it was already well known. Same with Nothin' On You, actually.

He's American though, so I don't think the UK is one of his priorities at the moment.

While we're at it, I've been reading in the news that Lady Gaga might be moving to London this year (not permanently)! If it's true, that'll be pretty cool. :)

The same goes to you.

It would be nice to see Avenged Sevenfold get their first top 40 hit, we need a bit more rock going top 40 on merit rather than as a result of an internet campaign.

To be fair it's hardly as high as it is 100% on merit, its position is inflated by the hype surrounding the death of their drummer (The Rev).

If Boyzone had come back with Brother and Stephen Gately was still alive neither Brother or GIAA would have been anywhere near as big as they were. It's sad but it's true - death sells.

It's down to #37 now anyway :(

Hehe it was deliberately punctuationally (is that even a word? ) incorrect, that was the point

O & wile wr at it, wot wi the txt spk? :P

'Turn It Up' up to #54. :)

I just heard it on the radio. It's a really nice song.

It does make me wonder though, why songs such as Mama Do and Cry Me Out were the 1st and 3rd singles, when she has songs such as Turn It Up and Gravity.
