I figured it would be hypocritical of me not to, as I've changed myself in the past on nearly every occasion that there's been an opportunity :kink: I don't have a problem with it really, nothing worse than being stuck with a song you may have gone off for whatever reason.

It's not as good as Gwen Stefani, but then again - not much is.
Oh it is. That song is VILE. I really, really don't get the fuss with it. Everything else from that era (especially 'Cool') was far better. (Oh yeah, barring 'Luxurious' :puke:)

There is plenty of time to think about your song choice, so why not confirm at a point near the deadline? Imo to confirm means "confirming", not just "I think I'll send this song, but I'm not sure at all and I might be bored of it so don't expect anything as I might change it" etc..

I preferred Cool and Hollaback Girl personally but I still think What You Waiting For is a great pop song, and definitely a classic of the noughties.

For one thing it frees up a load of artists. As soon as somebody's confirmed, their other potentially 4 artists are free for other people to use again, should somebody have been 'waiting' for them. So everyone gets to send the song/artist that they want rather than somebody else having to send a second choice because their first choice is held up until the last minute by someone who has no intention to use them.

And if they then find something that they like better, the option's there to change it. As the host, it doesn't effect me, so I don't see that it will effect anybody else to be honest :o It's nice to have the option available I think personally.

Karen Elson is Jack White's missus (White Stripes), for anyone who doesn't know who she is. Needs to played in full to be honest, not as a 30 sec sound bite, to really appreciate the track.

Fair enough, but I sthill think it's a bit unserious to both hold on to artists you're never going to use, and to confirm a song early when you're not quite sure.

Well, you may hold on to artists you *might* use having them as a plan b, not everybody keeps artists to prevent them from being sent at all  And you could be 100% sure but the next day some gorgeous song surfaces and you're feeling completely won over by the feeling 'this is my BJSC entry'.

Why are you being so reluctant about that?

Indeed, I like to reserve a few of my current favourite songs, you never know what will grow on you the most between reservation opening and confirmation closing!

Honestly though, it's not something I even thought twice about when typing this thread  Some hosts allow changes, some don't. Personally, I don't see that allowing them can have any effect on anybody but the host having to do a tiny bit more work and editing the opening post if somebody changes (which is basically no work at all).

So allowing them definitely seems like the preferable option to me, because it allows for circumstances. Ok, it's unlikely but imagine if you had confirmed a song that you adored, which was special and personal to you and a girlfriend/boyfriend - and then a couple of days later you split up  you probably wouldn't feel so passionate about said song and would want to change it! Or if you were in an accident when your confirmed song was playing and it started reminding you of the event. I know these scenarios are both long shots, but allowing changes allows for bizarre circumstances such as these.

I'm not bloody saying that everybody does that! I just stated my personal opinion about reserving artists that you are never going to use

I am not. I agree entirely with what you say here, things might happen, and I'm not against allowing changes, I'm just "against" loose confirmations and artist blocking in general.

Why are they always the artists 'you're never going to use'? E.g. I reserved Anastacia and Dima Bilan in case their song that leaks in 5 days is good. I have no intention of sending these artists alone but reserved them for this song (that i doubt i will send tbh, only if the song is perfection). So if somebody wants to send a Dima's song that makes me an artist-blocker? Some people have similar tastes and it's pretty bollocks - to say that somebody blocked the artist you want for purpose, only because you couldn't make it to the beginning of confirmation in time.

You know, I think you're actually trying to start an argument with me. Whatever I write you seem to be interpreting it differently and adding more to it on purpose! If someone reserves an artist with the INTENTION of not letting anyone else have that artist, well of course that means you've blocked that artist wouldn't it?! But if you've reserved that artist IN CASE something good leaks, than that is completely different.
