August 1, 201014 yr TBH, I don't think most will make much impact, given how crap they are. :P Also, they aren't going to sell enough in 3 hours on Saturday to chart, and their sales will surely fade rapidly through the following week. I agree with that. If anything, Cowell is actually doing us a favour in 'thinning out' his acts. I mean ... fans of the show may want to download one or two of their favourites ... perhaps the acts they would vote through to win ... but ALL of them? Surely there can't be this many saddos to warrant an X-Factor takeover. Norma Edited August 1, 201014 yr by Norma_Snockers
August 1, 201014 yr LOL @ People's reactions. This needs to happen if only to see the forum go into meltdown.
August 1, 201014 yr This is sickening what he is planning. He has killed the charts in this country and this system would put the nail in the coffin for them. Not only that, there is more haters than fans of the show and those behind the RATM campaign wont let it lie. Perhaps an assassination attempt could stop him? ;):D

August 1, 201014 yr They might put them up at midnight tho :( Of course. And then they'll be plugged numerous times on Sundays show no doubt!
August 1, 201014 yr LOL @ People's reactions. This needs to happen if only to see the forum go into meltdown. Yeah, it'd be hilarious wouldn't it!
August 1, 201014 yr I just cannot see this going well.If the quality of the acts this year is anything like last year it will be more mediocre talents with average voices. It would have worked in 2008 as the acts could sing and had good songs.
August 1, 201014 yr Don't see why, unless Syco make it so, that they would be ineligable to chart. It's just like Glee, the OCC can't say "oh no, we don't like the music that you are buying so we're not going to include it in the chart".
August 1, 201014 yr There is no way they'll make them eligible to chart, for the exact reasons Britster states. If it follows the pattern of the USA, he won't make the tracks chart eligible or let them appear in the iTunes Top 100 rundown until AFTER the final. This is because:He doesn't want viewers knowing which artist is likely to win.The sales data will be available to Simon & co, so they'll know which artists are worth saving, etc. However, in the week after the final (Xmas #1 week), it's likely to be an X-Factor lockout in the Top 10  It should also be noted, the tracks that have been available to download on iTunes after the US shows have been studio recordings by the contestants. You only get the live version on the night if you purchase the video. I'm glad they'll be available though - and the demand is definitely there. I've posted all the performances on Digital Spy for the last 3 years and the most downloaded gets approx 2k, other sites such as Mini Viva get more and that's just from those who know about these sites. If its on iTunes and available to the general public in a wider form, the sales income will be massive. I like the idea of a studio version, as its both longer and better quality. I wish they'd implemented that during Leona's year :(

I wish they'd implemented that during Leona's year :(I honestly am still crying for Leona's studio version of 'I'll Be There' (The song she did in Week 1) I know people would probably prefer 'Summertime', 'I Will Always Love You', 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' etc... but 'I'll Be There' will always be special to me as it was the first time I thought Leona was a true star. And her vocal was pretty much spot-on considering she was supposed to be ill that week or something!

August 1, 201014 yr You're assuming that all those 2,000 people would be willing to pay 79p or 99p for the tracks.. Fair point. However, I think in terms of overall downloads, the widening availability/accessibility of the songs from being on iTunes would offset the cost.
August 1, 201014 yr Joy :manson:. Tbh I think it'll have a 24-hour impact and fade away quickly... unless the song/performance is outstanding. This kind of gives away who'll win... the contestant who does best overall in chart.
August 1, 201014 yr Not really. Surely it's no different to tracks being cherry-picked after the performance, as to how it'll give it away etc...? The songs Diana V performed were nearly always the most downloaded tracks, but it seems that she never topped the votes until the week she performed 'Yellow'...
August 1, 201014 yr I believe we shouldn't worry too much. Selling a song (for each contestant) every week will weaken the focus on specific songs and therefore their ability to chart high anyway. There is no chance XF fans will download every single song. And even if they do that will still make all the anticipation for their debut album and singles wear off. The singer that flares fast extinguishes soon! ;) It seems scary when you first hear it but in the end we will have more XF songs charting (I mean selling coppies because they want be eligible to chart) but they will all chart lower (sell less). The income will be much higher for the industry but the lack of focus will push all these 'brilliant tracks' down. I suppose everybody here knows how much they care about the winners future career by now. The have new sweet puppets every year. :puke2: This may take a little time to take effect (months?) but at least may result to less XF chart toppers.
August 1, 201014 yr sickening? LOL well that was a pathetic comment. ohmy imagine, not good for the charts if true, i highly doubt it tbh and wouldnt make #1 every week thats for sure.
August 1, 201014 yr  This would certainly shake the charts up. If Simon Cowell gave the green light and live performances were released as individual tracks sold for 99p (wait, this is Cowell we're talking - £1.99p :P ) he'd be raking in the revenues on a weekly basis. I'm hoping the quality of contestants this year is seriously better than the absolute $h!te witnessed last year. Imagine the embarrassment had Danyl Johnson's butchering of 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing', Lloyd's personality-less cover of 'I'm Still Standing' or Jedwards' homoerotic but ultimately tonedeaf 'Opps...I Did It Again' had made the UK Top 10 last year. :manson: :puke:
