October 1, 201014 yr A million was easier to sell in those times. The sales are not particularly that relevant. I was just stating the public do have a history of falling for the same thing twice... although Robson and Jerome's second album was significantly less successful than their first. Anyway, a million is never that hard to sell around Christmas. If Susan can stay high up in the Christmas rush, even if she spends it stuck behind Take That or whatever, then I don't see why she can't sell a million yet again.
October 1, 201014 yr Susan will be a threat but the circus wasnt far behind in opening sales regards susan. Also there wont be as much hype around susans 2nd album either. Im still confident take that will get number 1 with very decent sales. Take That actually outsold her with The Circus album. She sold 411,000 first week, TT-423,000. This time,I think, her sales wont be that high. The hype is not the same anymore. Whereas Take That,on the other hand, probably will sell even more this time. Their reunion with Robbie is hyped up to high heaven. The sales will be MASSIVE. As for the single..JLS' single is nothing special at all. Yes, i know they have a big following. But TT have an advantage. People will buy it because of the epicness of it all. Because Robbie Williams back to Take That IS an epic thing.Plus they have TT fanbase AND Robbie fanbase. Both are huge. JLS have no chance,IMO.

I honestly can't see there'll be much demand from Rob fans for the Take That album. They've always thought Take That were crap ... Rob's been telling them so right up until 2006/7. Oh I forgot ... they're best (kerching, kerching) mates now! Kath
October 1, 201014 yr It is possible though, although Take That will beat JLS ... they could only be beating them to the number 2 position, as it could be damned hard for anyone to shift Susan Boyle from number 1. Take That could end up with number twos all round! Kath Susan will be huge first week but won't hold off TT in her second week. Big album sales all round though which is healthy. Take That could do 500k+ but won't beat the Oasis recod. Edited October 1, 201014 yr by Common Sense
October 1, 201014 yr . They've always thought Take That were crap .Those fans will be first in line for this album, believe me. Take That could do 500k+ but won't beat the Oasis recod. Well, they could beat Oasis if the single is strong. Because anticipation for this album is enormous. People(even none fans) will buy it because practically everyone is curious about what this TT\Robbie album will sound like. This album could do anything from 300k to 1 million on its first week.. Lets just wait and see.

This album has got to be nothing less than bloody amazing or there are going to be a lot of red faces all around. Kath

But I agree with whoever it was that said, her first week will be big, but her 2nd week will surely dip by about 60% or something
October 2, 201014 yr 1 Take That - 500k! 2 JLS - 210k 3 Susan Boyle (it's her 2nd week, right?) - 120k
October 2, 201014 yr As popular as Jls are i dont see them trumping the uks biggest boy band! Edited October 2, 201014 yr by Jmh123
October 8, 201014 yr I am bringing this up because I ve just listened to 'the Flood'. TT will crush JLS , I am more sure than ever now. Perhaps single sales won't be as impressive because of album preorders but they may still be enough. (?)
October 8, 201014 yr The Flood has now premiered- its a good song, far superior to Love You More musically- albeit one qualm that its kind of all about Robbie and Gary, and the others dont get much of a say and Take Thats album is now number 2 in the pre-orders with well over a month to go and will be number 1 after Kings Of Leon is released- with JLS nowhere to be seen, Im now very sure they will beat him

I knew it reminded me of something (I didn't think it was this ... but it popped up on the way). Kath
October 10, 201014 yr I must say i think The Flood is an epic song, brilliant! It wasn't what i was expecting them to come out with at all. I think this could seriously challenge JLS for the no.1 single as well that week especially if they perform on X Factor. It will be interesting to see what the albums like.
October 10, 201014 yr Take That should do 300k; certainly at least 250k first week (maybe a massive 350-500k sale closer to Christmas) JLS closer to 200k; I think less (180-190k) but possibly 200-220k. Take That over a million year's end; JLS just under (800-900)
October 10, 201014 yr P.S. Susan Boyle around 200k first week, 700k+ year's end (maybe a million: X-Factor performance?)
October 15, 201014 yr Serious pressure. This album has got to be nothing less than bloody amazing or there are going to be a lot of red faces all around. Kath Possibly. Of course, you have to remember that the Oasis album which set that (incredible) record in less than a week was not actually all that well received: everybody wanted to buy it and hear it, but it didn't sell anything near as much as What's The Story (which goes without saying for basically every album) in the long run and general consensus was that it wasn't that great. So there's a lot of expectation, and this album will always sell quite well; judging from "The Flood", it's gonna be great - however, if the album isn't actually all that good, the sales will simply fade away. For me, the anticipation is immense! After the first few weeks of sales, a lot of it is going to be down to the actual quality of the music, and I can't wait to hear what 'the boys' have come up with. For the first week, 500k is not out of the question as I see it.

I will say that apart from a couple of songs on it ... The Flood is better than anything on The Circus album (Tour = Fabulous, Album = A bit of a disappointment if I'm honest). And as a debut single ... The Flood is a hundred times better than Greatest Day. Still not sure what their competition is going to be like but I hope it does do well. Kath

Kath Save all your wishes for something else! ^_^ This is going to do extremely well one way or another. It has been a REALLY long time since the majority of TT fans + non fans liked a TT single (if we count out the few remaining Rob-haters) that much. I only hear positive comments here and there from people with various music interests (critics will probably follow in the same wavelength). ''The flood'' will be a killer single ;) This will give the album an additional push, longevity will depend on the rest of the songs though. I heard the release will be pushed forward in Germany. (?) I don't see the point in that... If they want to release sooner they should do so worldwide. Robbie's great success (and promo) in Germany has paved the way for TT but they shouldn't just rush in! EDIT: It is a song really suitable for live singing. Except for the fast part Robbie sings the rest will be easy to sing live so I am expecting a good live performance.

But just because most TT fans and Rob fans are giving it glowing responses ... doesn't make it great. As I said ... its a good song (what more do you want? Blood?) It is by no stretch of the imagination great. It's a lot better than the lead single from The Circus (and better than all but three tracks from the album) for me, that's as far as it goes. The rest of the album may be great ... in which case I'll probably buy it. And you've no more idea how it will chart than I have ... everyone thought Shame (as bad as it was) would leap to number 1 ... we were wrong weren't we? Kath Edited October 16, 201014 yr by Kathyp
