Actually gutted for Alesha, I at least expected top 20, if not top 40 ! Hope Duffy can stay top 5.

Definitely an OUCH for Westlife. A day or two ago, Digital Spy had a brief article in which Westlife were complaining (again) about being forced to do cover versions. After the performance of Safe, I wonder if any members of Westlife -- or Simon Cowell -- think that "The Reason" could have been a Top 5 hit that lingered around the Top 20 for 6 weeks like "What About Now" last year?

It's probably a bit early to call Gravity a complete disaster (or is it?), but if a second single didn't materialize from Where We Are after a #2 hit, then I don't see them releasing a second single from Gravity after a #10 hit that is sinking like a stone.

My guess is that Fall 2011 will see the release of a second Westlife greatest hits album (with 2-3 covers, one of which will be a single) or a full album of covers (in the Digital Spy article, they say Simon Cowell wanted them to do an album of movie songs, but they rejected the idea).

Do the Westlife tours make tons of money? As Westlife's manager or record label, I'd be pretty disappointed by the diminishing album/singles sales, but if the tours still make lots of money (and Syco/Simon Cowell get a piece of that revenue), then maybe the diminshing album/singles sales aren't as big a problem.

good to see some xmas songs top 40 but reggie annoys me when he announces them every year!!

pity we have no sales data!!

Surprised X Factor is #1. I'm not overly fond of any of the #1 contenders this week, but a different #1 would be nice, whatever it is.

Also surprised that N-Dubz is already top 40! :o It seems so recent Best Behaviour was released.

Not surprised about the Black Eyed Peas. Whilst they're the biggest group in the world at the moment, the album hasn't been promoted well, and it's not that good anyway (well, it's okay, but I was expecting much better, considering will.i.am has been churning out excellent tunes like 3 Words, Check It Out and OMG since The E.N.D).

LOL @ people saying BEPs are flopping.

Is top 15 a flop?

Yes. Yes it is. It is very much a flop for an act of their status.

I'm surprised they didn't go with Greatest Hits Vol.2 this year to be honest, they're due one - or maybe something like Robbie did instead - a complete comprehensive collection with a couple of new songs. I reckon they'll put one out next year with the usual cover single, seeing as Safe has flopped just like Us Against The World and Amazing did - people obviously just like Westlife when they're doing what they do worst best!

It is for an act who I think could be classed as the biggest group on the planet right now (seeing as Coldplay are 'on a break'.)

Not surprised at X Factor being #1, the physical was released this week, which is bound to sell quite a bit

It was out last week too, I saw it in HMV last Monday when buying Now 77 anyway!

Yeah, the BEPs aren't doing badly, but we expect better from such a massive group. These are the guys who released the US's year-end #1 (Boom Boom Pow). These are the guys who got 3 UK #1s last year. These are the guys who sold 750,000 copies of their 3rd single from their previous album (only 1 song released this year has sold more than that so far, and it's a 2nd single). These are the guys who spent 26 consecutive weeks at #1 on the US Billboard, and I Gotta Feeling replaced Boom Boom Pow at the top. Their previous album also scored 3 #1s on Europe Billboard (and on that chart Meet Me Halfway replaced I Gotta Feeling at the top). These are the guys who have the best-selling digital song of all-time. These are the guys who were in the top 10 in the UK non-stop from May 2009 to January 2010.

They literally dominated the world last year.

Yet their follow-up album isn't in the top 10 yet. :(

So many new album releases underperforming. I reckon it's because the snow was so much worse in most parts of the country on Monday than it was on Sunday, meaning sales from Sunday (when the new releases obviously weren't out) have a greater 'weighting' in the first mids than they ususally do. Assuming the weather gets a bit better later in the week, I think that will be balanced out to an extent, and we'll end up seeing Duffy top 3 and BEPs Top 10 - although that would still be pretty disappointing for both of them.

Hmm I've read several people on other sites saying it was out only yesterday

tryffel, I can't post links yet, but go to Digital Spy UK and do a search for Westlife. The article, entitled "Westlife: We became a tribute act," was the first result.

Nope, it was definitely out officially last week. There was a whole big deal in the video intros on the X Factor show on Saturday showing each of the contestants going into HMV last week to buy their single, and showing their reaction to having a single out with their voices on it.

Her first album sold *2 million* and her second album isn't even going to go top 3. That is awful no matter what way you spin it.

It may be awful but hardly unexpected. Anyone who thought she'd top the charts after the facts I've given purely because her last album sol 2 million, frankly needs their head read.

Shame we have no sales - I am really curious at how much TT have sold on the albums chart so far this week.

Don't know if it's true but apparently Alesha is #72 on the album charts.

OUCH.

Take That still number 1  and Bon Jovi still top 10  im disapointed kylie isnt top 40 but i kind of expected it at the same time. Pet Shop Boys and Alisha look likely to miss the top 40 but i hope they stay on and its great seeing my 2 fave christmas songs back in the top 40.

Im shocked Duffy is as high as she is and equally shocked at how low the black eyed peas are in the albums, i would have predicted their positions be the other way round.Im so disapointed with nelly furtado;s greatest hits flopping, she has done some great singles and i was sure the album would have done very well.
