After tonight im still 100% Matt and he just has to win, he is versitile as well as a brilliant singer and performer. If Matt doesnt win i really dont know who i want to win but in not keen and cheryld been the winning judge for 3 years in a row so hopefully matt will stop that, if not come on mary (highly unlikely) or one direction.

Id love rebecca to go tonorrow night although she was less boring tonight than usual.

I really hope Rebecca makes it through to the final. She is without doubt (vocally) 100% superior to everyone else there. I've got an awful feeling however that she may go tomorrow. There will no doubt be a load of sad old fogeys giving their vote to Karaoke Queen Mary.

Having said that ... even if she does go out .. Rebecca need not worry about a future recording career. I'm sure Simon has already arranged 'meetings' with Clive Davis for her.

First performances:

Rebecca - Incredible. Note-perfect and probably my favourite performance of hers. It was just so enjoyable! I like how her performance skills have improved as well.

Mary - Her thing is big songs and I like how she nails both slow big songs and, like tonight, fast big songs. I don't think it was her best performance but still good. I think she'll be out now though. I know she really wants it though. She sings her heart out all the time but is it enough for the voters?

Matt - I really enjoyed that. He did such a good job even though he was ill. I love that song too.

Cher - That was another enjoyable, solid performance.

One Direction - Another enjoyable one. I want to see Louis sing solo though!

Second performances:

Matt - That was pretty gorgeous. I'm surprised by Simon's comment about it being his worst. Probably not my favourite of his performances, but still pretty good.

Mary - It was very solid, but unfortunately for her I just don't think she's going to be in the final.

Cher - I wasn't a big fan of that.

Rebecca - Her voice just really fills the room with warmth. Unusual song choice in a way, but it worked. It was beautiful. I think she will be in the final.

One Direction - That was nice, but I'm a bit sick of that song.

Ooh rank time

01. Rebecca - Show Me Love I would never have paired up with this song, but this was wonderful. Even though Louis was talking a load of utter BOLLOCKS (she didn't dance for one single second), there WAS an air of confidence and fun about her for perhaps the first time throughout this entire contest. And vocally, it was pretty much PERFECT. Sadly I fear she is the one who will be tussling with Mary for the 4th spot in the final, but it really would be a disgrace if she went after this.

02. Rebecca - Amazing Grace Not quite the be-all-and-end-all that the judges would have us believe, but still pretty mesmerising. When it just boils down to vocals and vocals alone, Rebecca golden showers over EVERYBODY.

03. Matt - You've Got The Love NOT as technically gifted as Rebecca, but there is always passion in his voice and it makes him a very appealing singer. This was a shining example of that, although part of me wishes he hadn't gone for the safe option and had tried his hand at one of the 247 dance versions of the song available.

04. One Direction - Only Girl In The World I didn't agree with Cheryl at all - although "club classic" is stretching things a bit, this was a genius song choice. They've already got the Bieber market sewn up, and after that they'll be encroaching on the JLS territory aswell. As ever, they're NOT the most gifted in terms of vocals, and again that's been heavily disguised by the heavy production they seem to benefit from 99% of the time. But nevertheless, a surprisingly watchable perf.

05. Cher - Nothing On You Again, club classic - really? And it's a familiar story - the rapping was fine, the singing rather shaky. She's undeniably the best stage performer out of all the remaining acts, but that's not going to be of any use on a recording. I'm never going to want to listen to a CD of hers. Watch her live? Perhaps, if she loses a bit of the I'm-a-c**t attitude.

06. Mary - The Way We Were Final breakdown moment aside, it was another predictable and unimaginative song choice, but with Mary that's par for the course. Bonus points for genuine emotion though.

07. One Direction - Chasing Cars Having previously thought at the back of my mind that it seemed Liam was treated harshly by being rejected for the solo category, I can now see that they made the right call. He's the strongest singer in the group, but there's no way he'd be a deserving final five contestant if he had been solo. Harry was OK, Zain was improved but still largely rubbish. The other two aren't even worthy of comment because they just don't factor into anything at all. It may aswell be a trio. This perf was adequate, nothing more.

08. Mary - Never Can Say Goodbye Not a DREADFUL performance, but in a week where the X Factor stepped up their game with a shedload of unusually RELEVANT songs, it was disappointing to see Mary and Louis inevitably shifting things back a gear - this was very much a return to the late, unlamented and rather naff Disco Week. Also I can no longer abide Mary's insistence on belting/shouting every single word. She must be Cowell's worst nightmare - there's no way he'd ever be able to get Mary to pull off the traditional X Factor "money notes" on the winners single, because she's trying to do money notes from the very opening line.

09. Cher - Love The Way You Lie A more extreme case than with Nothing On You. Rapping quite good, but the singing f***ING ATROCIOUS. All over the place.

10. Matt - Always A Woman His first genuinely rotten performance, but he can be excused because he really did look and sound genuinely ill. On a side note, I was with Louis when Simon was doing his narky "well I had a cold aswell and I wasn't complaining" thing - Matt had tonsillitis, which DOES affect the voice - which is kind of QUITE IMPORTANT for a singer trying to ply his trade. It's safe to say Simon Cowell isn't that naive, so he was being nothing more than an utter twat tonight.

Best performances: easily the first ones for everyone.

Rebecca: 1st, brilliant, 2nd, technically good but very boring

Mary: 1st, good despite being out of time towards the end, 2nd, typical Mary, decent

Cher: 1st, shockingly good! Probably my favourite of hers, 2nd, high-school karaoke yet again

Matt: 1st, good male version of YGTL until the choir, 2nd, predictable 2010 choice, OK but missed quite a lot of notes

1D: 1st, actually pulled that off (if that was a single would easily be #1), 2nd, tolerable inasmuch as one can bear CC without smashing the source of the song! Less mawkish than the SP version at any rate.

So:

Rebecca 1

Cher 1

1D 1

Matt 1

Mary 1

Mary 2

Cher 2

1D 2

Matt 2

Rebecca 2

I suppose that makes Cher my favourite on the night though Rebecca's first performance was easily the best of night, no contest.

Rebecca - both songs brilliantly performed - Show Me Love (not my fave club song) - Amazing Grace was amazing brilliance (most acapella and mesmerising)

Matt - Pretty good on first song but this song was so repetative - Hated the second song which seemed all over the place. Only Billy Joel give this song it's emotion.

One Direction - Childish rubbish on both songs - although a great song by Snow Patrol they did it a great injustice.

Mary - Belted out her first song by Gloria Gaynor (thankfully is wasn't the rubbish I Will Survive). Much prefered her second song originally by Gladys Knight.

Cher - Did a great job with both songs. Problem was they were too recent to be classics.

My ranking:

1. Rebecca (by a mile)

2. Cher

3 Matt

4 Mary

5 Wand Erection :puke2:

IMO Rebecca's one of the 2 best acts ever on X Factor along with Leona.

WHOOPS, wrong thread. But, I'm watching it back with my parents.

And the winner of the first round for them.... CHER :o And they don't particularly like her..

Edited by Robot

ALSO, watching it back, who the $h!t does that little CHAV think she is SNUBBING QUEEN DANNII like a piece of POO on her CHAV SHOE?

Cher is really a total BRAT and I think it's quite obvious that the majority of the stories of tantrums and cuntiness are quite on the money, despite however many times Cheryl and Simon try to deny it.

I WILL say though that I think Dannii was wrong - clearly Cher is not going to be going the next Leona Lewis, so why bother trying to turn her into something she isn't? I can understand that they needed to do 'Stay' a few weeks back what with the growing suspicion that Cher couldn't actually sing, but now they've made their point, there's not really much more to be gained from giving her a traditional ballad to sing - it's not who Cher is at all, and at this late stage in the competition it should really be all about actually selling an identity so that the public know exactly what they'll be getting when they pick their winner.

But nevertheless, I didn't like Cher's contemptuous HMMMM. Little $h!t.

No no, I agree she shouldn't have done a ballad, but the point I was making was what you summed up in your first sentence, it just showed she IS a little brat with absolutley no respect for anyone but Lord and Master Cowell. Right or wrong, Dannii is a judge and therefore contestants should show a little respect to their opinion. Christ, even LOUIS WALSH deserves his own opinion.

Cher Lloyd just killed Eminem. I don't actually think i've seen a worse/cringey performance ever

EDIT: wtf are the judges smoking.

I really dont see how anyone other than Mary will be going this week to be honest, there perhaps might have been a risk of it being Rebecca had she not sung 'Amazing Grace' as well as she did or if Mary had done performances to the standard of some of her earlier ones. I think Cher will be 4th in the voting personally, but Mary still lagging behind.

I'm also going with the theory that One Direction have this in the bag.

The final will go:

01 / Matt

02 / One Direction

03 / Rebecca

04 / Cher

I'd be exceedingly happy with a 1D or Rebecca win, the other two can go fall down a well.

I think the final is so unpredictable, any of 1D, Rebecca or Matt can win. Matt will most probably win, which I'll be happy with. I'd  a Rebecca or Cher win and I'd be OK if 1D won but a bit peed off Cher/Rebecca/Matt didn't.

I agree.. It's very unpredictable compared to previous years

Last year I was certain Joe would win as he'd been the favourite for weeks and I was sure Alexandra would the year before

But I now think it could be anyone out of One Direction, Matt and Rebecca.. Cher even has an outside chance if she performs Turn My Swag On next week

I think the celebrity duets will have a big effect too..I believe Olly performing with Robbie helped him finish in 2nd place ahead of Stacey

Exactly Sabrina, i think the beyonce duet with Alex won it for her that year. If JLS got a bigger & better artist then Westlife they could have won it.

The duet is so important, the right artist, can secure a win.

I wonder who they would all sing with.

Mary will go tonight i think.

Is it me or does Rebecca's performances go absolutely nowhere..there is no beginning, middle, end. No climax or bgi finish. Its the same throughout the performance. I'm a little bored of her, even though i like her.

Matt or One Direction (just because i think its about time a group wins) to win.

Edited by Peace

Hasn't Matt been the favourite right from the start though?

I'd happily be proved wrong but right now I really can't see anyone other than him winning. :(
