Posted December 31, 201014 yr Last year I did this thread and its appeared quite popular so thought this year I'd do the same. As always, just curious how people think the first couple of months could fare #1 wise. Here are some of the contenders. Feel free to add any others if you think I've missed any Rihanna featuring Drake - What's My Name Now #1 on itunes so could this us the first UK #1 of 2011? Bruno Mars – Grenade The fake was quite high on itunes, I'd say this has a very good chance. Adele - Rolling In The Deep Now the 17th looks like a tough week. Many including myself thought Chasing Pavements was going to reach #1 but it never did. This song has already been #1 in the Netherland and is #1 on German itunes, could this her a first UK #1? Her album should do it anyway. Avril Lavigne - What The Hell Her first single in 3/4 years, the clip sounds promising to me so could she finally have a UK #1? Releasing on the 17th may be a mistake though as its a bit soon. Diddy Dirty Money – Coming Home Really liking this, getting some good TV and Radio1 airplay so far, could this even beat Adele I wonder? I think top 5 at the moment though Ke$ha – We R Who We R Still yet to have a UK #1 (Tik Tok was #1 in most countries) could this give her a UK #1? Possibly but it wouldnt surprise me if she got stuck behind Adele at #2 Chase & Status feat Liam Bailey - Blind Faith Not sure about this, but this could them a fair big hit in the new year, Radio1 are bumming it already. Enrique Iglesias - Tonight Already taking off in the states, with the 'rude' video, could he finally get a second UK #1? I think this could be very big myself but will Radio 1 playlist it? I know they didnt playlist I Like it but did they playlist Heartbeat? Yasmin – On My Own Maybe a #1 in the new year? Think it could be quite big though don't see #1 Alexis Jordan - Good Girl Released on the 21st Feb, could she get another surprise hit? I never expected Happiness to do as well as it did :o A few we havent heard yet.. Lady Gaga has had an amazing 2009/2010, chances are she will come back with a corker and have another massive hit. Britney Spears - A fair bit of hype about this one, if its any good, ie Toxic good then could she get another UK #1 Comic Relief - No firm news about this one so a bit early to say but they nearly always do well.
December 31, 201014 yr I think Rihanna could still do it next week, unless Grenade goes to download early. Bruno Mars should easily earn himself a #1 with Grenade closely followed by Adele the following week, I can't see anything else pass Adele at the moment, but the Yasmin track is pure excellance. I've been bagging the track for a while now, its got potential for a #1 depends what other releases gets in the way. Personally I love to see Yasmin getting a #1.
December 31, 201014 yr Grenade, What's My Name? and We R Who We R are all incredibly likely to get to #1, I reckon. Not sure about any of the others, although I would LOVE Coming Home to get #1. That song is amazing. :)
December 31, 201014 yr Rihanna ft. Drake - What's My Name I think this has to get to number one at some point. I don't think there's any competition for it this coming week. Bruno Mars - Grenade I can't see this not getting to number one. Hyped up (rightly) artist and a single being released before the album. Plus the week of release is pretty quiet. Adele - Rolling In the Deep After the major hype of 'Make You Feel My Love' this year, I think Adele's profile has risen again and I think this has a healthy chance of getting to #1. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Bruno gets a second week. Avril Lavigne - What the Hell It might seem like I'm just copying the OP's predictions haha but I do think this (and the others) stands the most chance of getting to #1 next year. Although Avril could suffer the same fate as Christina. Both on RCA... Enrique - Tonight (I'm F**king You) Not on the UK edition of Euphoria and is top 10 in the US already. The success of both 'I Like It' and 'Heartbeat' surely ensures that the edited version at least will have strong airplay. The video will probably be either played to death on music channels or banned. Others at some point in 2011: Rihanna - S&M I can see this getting to #1 despite being the third single from the album. If 'Rude Boy' can be a big-selling #2, this can probably get to #1 at some point. Leona Lewis - tba The inevitable up-tempo direction she's going in and the producers she is working with (Guetta, Hurts etc) suggest that her material will be strong and commercial. I think she can get a 4th number one this year for sure. Beyonce - tba After the monster success of I Am...Sasha Fierce, I think it's likely that Beyonce will come back with a strong commercially successful lead single in the summer/fall. Lady Gaga One word - inevitable.
December 31, 201014 yr I really think everyone is over-estimating ADELE. I think top 5 at best, but more likely top 10. I reckon out of that list that, What's My Name, Grenade, Coming Home and We R Who We R will get #1. I'm not sure about Enrique, he might do it? SIX! :o You haven't been around for ages! Leona & David Guetta? Edited December 31, 201014 yr by Klumzee
December 31, 201014 yr Rihanna featuring Drake - What's My Name Now #1 on itunes so could this us the first UK #1 of 2011? This Sundays number 1 is the first of 2011 right, its hard to say as we don't have midweeks but Matt Cardle has more a chance of number one. Then I can see Bruno Mars getting an early release [again] and Rihanna another number 2

Leona & David Guetta? The charts have bored me recently so there was no point following them for a bit. :P Only Rihanna has made it interesting. I have been lurking occassionally though. I think Enrique has a chance now that his profile has picked up and has recent hits to support his new single. Personally, I don't like his new song...but then I didn't like ILI at first.
December 31, 201014 yr Would like to see ADELE and Avril get #1s, shame they're in the same week. Ke$ha's new one has yet to grow on me but I'd still prefer any of the three to be #1 ahead of Bruno Mars (even though it's not nearly as annoying as JTWYA).
December 31, 201014 yr I think Wretch 32 feat. L - Traktor could be a serious contender for #1 at some point. Jessie J feat. B.o.B - Price Tag as well.
December 31, 201014 yr Avril surely isn't releasing so soon here in the UK... Are you sure people aren't getting her US release dates and UK release dates mixed up?
December 31, 201014 yr I think Wretch 32 feat. L - Traktor could be a serious contender for #1 at some point. Jessie J feat. B.o.B - Price Tag as well. I can't imagine how 'Traktor' will chart, it will either flop (Loick Essien style) or go straight to #1. I was disapointed with the studio version of 'Price Tag', the verses are very mono-tone and as much as I like B.o.B, his verse is a bit crap. It will probably go top 10?
December 31, 201014 yr Jessie J feat. B.o.B - Price Tag as well. This! A collaboration between the BRITs critics choice and one of 2010's biggest success stories is bound to smash.
December 31, 201014 yr I can't imagine how 'Traktor' will chart, it will either flop (Loick Essien style) or go straight to #1. It's getting good video play on music channels - I can see it being #1, or Top 3..
December 31, 201014 yr I think Rihanna will be the next #1 after Matt, then followed by Grenade, I think that's a cert for a #1. I'm not so sure on the week after though, it will be between Adele and Ke$ha though.
December 31, 201014 yr I'm not sure if Avril will get to #1 her track for Alice In Wonderland was a complete flop, it be more like Kelly Clarkson, 1 week at #1 if she does manage a #1 and a flop year.
December 31, 201014 yr I'm not sure if Avril will get to #1 her track for Alice In Wonderland was a complete flop, it be more like Kelly Clarkson, 1 week at #1 if she does manage a #1 and a flop year. Was her song for Alice In Wonderland treated as a proper single over here? I didn't hear it on the radio or see it on TV, it seemed like they just put it on iTunes and left it.
December 31, 201014 yr I'm not sure if Avril will get to #1 her track for Alice In Wonderland was a complete flop, it be more like Kelly Clarkson, 1 week at #1 if she does manage a #1 and a flop year. ...but 'Alice' was painful to listen to. No wonder it bombed. Yet to hear the new Avril songs but if it's more balladry with slightly off key big wailing notes, I'd be surprised if that got Avril her first UK #1. She needs to comeback with something both catchy (I know people hate 'Girlfriend' but I thought it was a decent track for what is was) and preferably excellent (like 'My Happy Ending').
December 31, 201014 yr Traktor  Certain members are going to go ape if it even gets top 10, haha. I don't see it beating Adele or Ke$ha, unfortunately, though, so #3 is probably the highest it can get. I just hope we have more variety from the #1 hits this year. Bar Yolanda Be Cool every #1 song in 2010 was either pop or urban, with the latter sometimes being mixed with dance. Think we need some more pure dance and rock/indie tunes hitting the top in 2011 (the former is possible, the latter highly unlikely).

THIS, Nero "Me And You" deserves to be the first dubstep number one. I can see it being massive or at least top ten. I would like next year to see the first instrumental dance number one of the 21st century, although that's really, really unlikely. I was gutted when Duck Sauce was number 3 (that sort of counts as instrumental doesnt it) Edited December 31, 201014 yr by *xmasG*
