The Feeling have revealed details of their brand new single.

The Ivor Novello-winning group will return from their three-year break with 'Set My World On Fire' next month.

The track, which has been featured on the BBC's coverage of the Cricket World Cup, will serve as the lead single from The Feeling's currently untitled third album, which is set for release in July.

'Set My Word On Fire' has been described as a "refreshingly cynicism free brand of sunshine seeking tropicalia" fused with the group's "distinctive guitar pop powerhouse sound".

"The fact that we’re going to be soundtracking the World Cup is a pleasure and a thrill," frontman Dan Gillespie said. "The single's a perfect taster track from our new record, which all of us are properly excited about."

The Feeling have scored four UK top 10 hits with tracks including 'Fill My Little World' and 'Never Be Lonely'.

'Set My World On Fire' will be released on March 14.

MUCH EXCITE :w00t: I loved The Feeling, they were one of very current acts that broke through my anti-pop bubble in 2004-7, and for me the second album was even better.

Considering that Sophie-Ellis Bextor's husband is in the band, I wonder if I would get a better response in her forum. It's all about Dan for me though

The Feeling were excellent in 2006 and I bought their debut album 'Twelves Stops And Home' as I was impressed with all their singles off that album (well, ok 'Rosé' was a bit ho-hum!!!). 'Join With Us' was definitely a difficult second album having to live up to the success of their debut - but imo failing quite badly.

I'm hoping this new album will be The Feeling back on form releasing top quality indie/pop that made them so popular in the first place.

Used to love them! 12 Stops and Home was a great pop album! Strange and Sewn were my fave tracks on the album! Hope their new material can bring them back to the charts! When will we able to listen to the song?

I am VERY excited for this album.

Can not wait to hear the new single.

Twelve Stops And Home was GREAT. Every single was fantastic and I Want You Now, Kettles On & Helicopter were all singles that never were! :(

Join With Us was VERY GOOD. But felt very 'Twelve Stops & Home in the making' to me. It could have been just as good as the first bout had they spent a little more time on it. Some album tracks and Without You lacked a little.

I hope Album #3 is a return to form for them as they seem to have spent a bit more time this time round so I'm sure they'll deliver the goods!

I was literally waiting to start a thread on this when the first single would be leaked but anyway am excited for this. One of my fave bands of the noughties. Here's a live performance of SMWOF from what I've heard on Youtube.

Ahhhh. Can't WAIT! I really hope they're back to making their original catchy indie pop music! The last album was a complete disaster! (Well the singles choices were. Why start off with the two worst on the album and leave the best ones for the later release?? Hopefully they get it right this time!

I Thought It Was Over was an amazing single choice. Don't even say it wasn't. In fact if ti was released now it would be #1. The mixing of indie rock with electronica was WAY ahead of it's time. Without You was a horrible choice, though I liked Join With Us, but all the momentum was lost by then. I will agree on the whole 12 Stops was a better album. I am really interested to see what they come back with, I think that if they're not Scouting For Girls big (and maybe they're too brainy/gay to ever be) they could have at least a Hoosiers type success. They're playing the Royal Albert Hall in March but nobody wants to go see them with me :(

Quite like these guys :)

Maybe Sophie EB's hubby should teach her how to release a single and album properly so we can get the album we were promised 2 years ago :drama:

I quite like The Feeling, 12 Stops and Home was a great album, but their latest era was so disappointing- all the catchy indie pop had gone :( hopefully this will be back to their old style

I agree with all of this. ITIWO was one of my fave songs of that year, Spent about 6 weeks at no.1 in my personal chart. It was a great lead single because it showed they came back with something different and not the same thing straight away.

Ooh, I really liked their first two albums, hope they don't do a Scouting For Girls and turn crap after an amazing start!

:o 'Rosé' was gorgeous! So chilling  'Love It When You Call' and 'Sewn' were my other faves.

I liked them back then but don't really hold much hope for them now, but we'll see..

Sewn was brilliant, the demo from the deluxe version of the album is even better. I was never mad about Rosé though, and it took me a long time to get into Never Be Lonely.

Woah Woah Woah! Why we all being so harsh on Rose? :o

It's such a wonderfully beautiful song.

They'll never top Fill My Little World for me though!

This will be a tough album for them after the 2nd album under performing and its subsequent singles, i do like the feeling and they make some good singles that are uplifting. I hope this album can in some ways reverse the fortunes of their 2nd album.

Anyone heard it on the Cricket yet? ALthough I doubt there's many big cricket fans here... I'm loath to listen to the live version in case I'm dissapointed, or I alternatively fall in love with it and the studio isn't as good...
2011 seems to be a mini indie revival year, we've had loads of indie/rock songs in the top 100 recently (The Roller, L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N., Post Break-Up Sex, Jump Into The Fog, Animal, What You Know, Timshel, Ready To Start, Rescue Me plus slightly older songs such as The Cave, Little Lion Man and Sweet Disposition making re-entries) so it seems like a good time for The Feeling to return. I think they could actually be pretty successful, but I suppose we'll find out soon anyway.
I'm pleased to see quite a lot of enthusiasm for The Feeling in here. Once upon a time they were my favourite band and I was looning all over the place for them, which was weird for me as I've long been quite pure pop/fempop-based as a music fan. Their second album was disappointing as people have said. Here's hoping their sound has progressed a bit and we've got something new and exciting to look forward to from them! ^_^
