It isn't at all as they're different 'un' sounds - 'stay-sh'n' vs. 'fuhn'. The 'us' sounds in chorus and notorious are identical.

The fact that they also do not share the same amount of syllables shows that they do not rhyme. The "ee" sound in "notorious" stops it from rhyming with "chorus".

I was being sarcastic to point out that Boom Boom Pow didn't have a chorus and therefore it was possible for pop songs to not have choruses :P

Oh. Sorry. Yeah, I was a bit like WTF? at your comment.

You *can*, but it makes you sound retarded.

Mr Saxobeat

Sorry but that's un-called for, no need to start calling members of the forum 'r*t****' just because of how some people may pronounce it.

No-tor-ee-us

Chor-us

It's the 'us' that makes it rhyme.

Party Rock Anthem 9 weeks in the top 5!!!!! :o The last song that I remember doing that is Love the Way You Lie. I think Hips Don't Lie did it aswell.

Does 'antidisestablishmentarianism' rhyme with 'forum'?

No, the last couple of letters aren't the same.

I think you are being overly pedantic even for you Bray!

Glamourous stegosaurus

You kind of have you pronounce that steg-ass-aurus though :kink:

Does 'antidisestablishmentarianism' rhyme with 'forum'?

Yes. If this was the iTunes thread, I'd dig out rhymes from songs and show you how they rhyme even though you'd think they normaly don't, but this conversation is moving too fast, so I won't.

The Saturdays could easily get away with that rhyme in their next single, if they wanted to. I think they should, it'd be quite funny.

yeesh, all this over two vaguely similar sounding words

tbh 'notorious' and 'Chorus' rhyme, but they wouldn't make a great rhyme in a rap song

The last syllable of notorious and chorus are the same. Therefore the words rhyme. The same cannot be said of antidisestablishmentarianism and forum.

The fact that they also do not share the same amount of syllables shows that they do not rhyme. The "ee" sound in "notorious" stops it from rhyming with "chorus".

Words don't have to have the same amount of syllables to rhyme. Perhaps to have a more 'perfect' rhyme, but I don't think you'd find anyone saying chorus and thesaurus don't rhyme...

It's not the letters that matter, it's the vowel sounds. 'Yacht' rhymes with 'robot' and they only share a last letter.

I'm pretty much failing to see the appeal in this, although it's not overly awful.

'The Lazy Song' on the other hand is undoubtedly the worst #1 of the year, I could at least see the appeal of his previous two. :(

The last syllables *are* the same in my example. Both end in -əm.
