June 7, 201115 yr Great to see the Arctics at #1, really wasn't sure they could do it this time around. Sales much higher than I expected too! It may even have a chance at outdoing Humbug's first week sales! I'll most likely do around the same though I think.
June 7, 201115 yr Depends how you define a hit album. They'll be lucky to clear 10k this week then fall quickly out of the top 40. Not a hit album in my book. But when both singles fail to go top-100, the name of the band is unknown - and they still get the top-10 (midweek) album, like they are indie stars! It's a massive LOL moment. I think they'll end up top-30, and I didn't expect them to touch the top-100 albums at all! Not that I bother about them, they're average to be honest. But as a chart fact it is incredible. Mind you, 'Sweet 7' didn't even get a midweek top-10. :lol:
June 7, 201115 yr Wonderland will probably end up at #24 or something by the end of the week but i'm somehow hoping they can cling on to the top ten. They scream 'album act' to me as their singles are hardly very commercial.
June 7, 201115 yr Hey, T10 is T10 - not bad for someone no-one in the UK had heard of 3 days ago... :P I'm surprised the Arctics have done so well though, after their single utterly bombed... I really don't think people need a hit single to get a big hit album anymore...the two charts haven't correlated at all this year save for a few acts - Adele, Lady Gaga, Jessie J etc... Looking at the mids top 40 albums, ALL 16 new entries are by acts who haven't had a top 20 hit single this year, that is a mind boggling statistic considering that hit singles have always been used as the major promotional tools for albums. And then many of the acts having success in the singles chart will never have a hope in hell of getting a hit album here - Pitbull, LMFAO, Alexandra Stan, Dev etc... Radio 1 does it's bit in boosting acts into the singles chart and quite clearly Radio 2 is doing the same for the album chart now!

June 7, 201115 yr Surprised Arctics are selling so much - iirc, their last album only started off with about 95k, and that was after they'd been promoting it at festivals all summer. The album's surprisingly decent though, which I wasn't expecting after their last one was so poor...

June 7, 201115 yr I was also surprised by the success of Wonderland album. According to Twitter, some ASDAs and Tesco stores sold out of the album which might mean its selling better than expected. Then again, their record company is heavily publicizing them so who knows... they're extremely vanilla though.
June 7, 201115 yr So strange seeing 19 out of the top 5 :lol: and its going to be really weird seeing 21 at #3 when the time comes as since January its been #1 and #2! Aw Jackie #4, and could climb she performed on This Morning and had an interview today. Wonderland getting a top 10 placing doesnt qualify as a 'hit' album. Nicole up to #21, considering she's having success with Right There, has an advert out on TV and on iTunes, has 3 (4 including heartbeat) hits on the album i expected a bigger climb..at least its actually climbing for her anyway. Monkeys will be frontloaded. Adele could be back to #1 again :o what releases are on Monday?

If x is #2 then 2x = #1 (Example - CTWYKM) AND 2x = x + 30, from there x = 30, 2x = 60k. BUT if it's more than a double, let's say 2.5... then it'll be like that: 2.5x = x + 30. 1.5x = 30, x = 20. And 2.5x = 50. So I think Example is between 55k - 60k today.
