Greg James just revealed that 'I Giorni' by Ludovico Einaudi is at #42 as of Wednesday - pretty impressive considering it's only really picked up in the past two days or so. Nice to have some classical music in the top 40 though.

I'd be very surprised if Monster doesn't go top 10 unless it plummets on iTunes during the week. It was a Monday release after all, not a Wednesday one. #23 at this stage is pretty good.

Shame to see Coldplay down to #4 but it was expected, they'll probably be #5 tomorrow. Hopefully they can hold onto #5. Will probably still sell more than VLV did when it was #1 (but that sale was not as bad as it seems due to the cirucumstances around its release, it was a lucky #1)

The Prodigy are down 4 places today compared to yesterday :drama: Hope they can hold onto that top 40.

As if Jackie overtook GaGa :o I doubt she'll overtake Adele though, but you never know I guess. I'd laugh if it somehow did go to #1 and vidcapper was right all along.

Is 19 still 7+1 or has it climbed today?

Also hope to see Ludovico top 40 on Sunday, I haven't heard it but it'd be a nice victory for the classical genre. Anyone know what the last classical top 40 hit was?

3+3

Ah, should be back in the top 5 by Sunday easily then. Possibly even tomorrow unless Glee have a big lead.

Great to see Nicole top 3  And 'I Giorni' just outside the T40, c'mon keep climbing. It's at 29 on iTunes so it could make it. Also nice to see Example at number one and Rihanna falling down fast (never thought I'd say that but her new song isn't good)

Would assume it was the re-entry of Nessum Dorma on 15/9/07, after Pavarotti died.

Ah, that seems likely. But as that had gone top 40 before in 1990 it probably wasn't the last *new* classical T40 hit, but it was almost certainly the last time a classical song was T40.

Paramore only climbing four places, that should be enough but I fear they'll fall short.

Why are Foo Fighters climbing again, poor sales? Seems odd given the number of new entries, I'm glad "Wasting Light" is maintaining some sort of stability though. Actually, it's probably because of "Walk" :D

Ouch at Nicola, sales must have been ridiculously close between the 10-22 region over the past couple of days :o

Amazed to see Wonderland still on course for the top ten!

Why did she drop back below Lady Gaga?

I think Wonderland will end up top 15 by Sunday, although i'm very happy it's lasted top ten so far. :D

^ Great to see Jessie J, Rihanna and Alex/Kelly all recover; the great fall was most likely down to Nicola Roberts - although now they all face new threats from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Paramore - hopefully Chapman will fall down to #14/#15.

Ludovico Einaudi is now within the top 40 - meaning he occupies #35, #36, #38 or #39; I'm going to guess #36!

Actually, the last classic hit to go top 40 was on 06/06/2009, when 'Paladio' by Escala reached number 39 in the chart. It's good to see some more classical music in the chart though.

Cool, interesting to see, I kind of wish the UK had a daily chart like Japan.

Ludo is at 30+8 btw.
