It was actually falling not that long ago (it fell back down to 33 from 31) so it's odd to see it climbing so much again. It's knocked SFTTR out of the top 20 :(

 

What is the song like? Is it better or worse than Fast Lane IYO?

I prefer Fast Lane. Fast Lane isn't really about anything, but I think it has a better beat, is funnier, and at least from Eminem, it's more different to what was on Recovery.

 

I mean, Lighters is produced by the same people that produced Forget You and Just the Way You Are, so I like it just about as much as I possibly can. :lol: It's another one of those ballad-esque hip hop songs like Nothin' On You and Love the Way You Lie, so I think the general public would like it.

I'd say it was pretty big here! Top 3 for the fourth single from an album that has sold well is quite the achievement.

On the Dog Days Are Over debate, it first entered the top 40 at #23 when it was used in a Channel 4 advert for Slumdog Millionaire, while You've Got The Love was in the top 10. When it was actually re-released, with the new music video it got to #24. It hung around for ages though.

 

For me, this Katy Perry era goes like:

 

1. California Gurls - 10/10

2. E.T. - 9/10

3. Teenage Dream - 8/10

4. Last Friday Night - 8/10

5. Firework - 6/10

 

Its been a great era for Katy. I loved Firework but its been killed with all the overplaying.

I just can't get tired of Firework really. Although I can see it becoming like Chasing Cars, Clocks, Bittersweet Symphony, etc, and being the song that's played in the background of like every single TV show.

 

Even on the X Factor last year, they played it in like half the episodes. :drama:

 

About DDAO, I think I probably looked at its chart run once and assumed the two peaks were from the two releases, because I think it fell quite far between them. I heard it on the radio again today though! :D

Yes, CG wins, as it was a great summery tune from last year :heart: Firework slips to third due to overplay with E.T. stepping forward to 2nd. Just about anything beats the uninspirational and boring TD so her new single is at 4.

I can agree there :P I slightly prefer TD to the Loud era and it's not even that far away from BTW (as all the singles are 10/10 for me from TD so far)

 

How anyone can dislike Firework, I do not know! I know it's opinions and respect people's opinions, but [loon]even with the insane overplay, it's my fave song from 2010 and my fave Katy song. One of the best pop songs of all time imo[/loon]

Firework would be in my top 20 from 2010. It's really good. I remember the first time I heard it, I was just "Wow". It seems a bit mediocre at first, but then the chorus starts! :lol:
