Usually, the first single from the album is more successful but this time around it would appear Magic did better albeit a slightly better chart position!

It does slightly feel it might have been the bigger hit but say something is still nicely ahead on sales and I hope it stays that way.

'Please Stay' re-entered the physical chart this week at #96 - which one of you bought it? :P

'Santa Baby' has sold 556k as of the w/e 7 January, which means it sold 168k in 2020! It'll be on 700k+ if it does the same this year!

'Kylie Christmas' re-entered the albums at #195 on the w/e 31 December, total sales at 153k.

So KC just one week on chart this season? Didn't hold on the week after with Christmas Day and Boxing Day streams?

Wow at SB.

Yeah just the one week. It’s strange: some Christmas albums collapsed, like Robbie’s, and others had a boost, like Michael Buble’s.
Shame it didn’t make it another week. Problem is the only major streams are just for a few of the tracks, some of them are hardly streamed.

I’m sure it randomly charted earlier in the year too, there is definitely a chart return shop out there somewhere that is selling 20 year old CD single overstocks

The sales for SB :cheeseblock:

Seems like Please Stay must have sold at least 3 copies :o (Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber - Monster sold 3 copies but it's not in the Top 100 chart). Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud at #83 sold 5 copies!
It’s only added 10k over the last two Christmas periods so think it’ll take longer than 5 years sadly.

From Music Week (up to w/e 04/02/21*):

75,555 Say Something

46,986 Magic

24,730 Real Groove

2020 sales: 112,916 (9,304) DISCO

Last known total + weekly average

54,682 Say Something (w/e 19/11/20) 1,898 average

30,283 Magic (w/e 26/11/20) 1,670 average

17,339 Real Groove (w/e 14/01/21) 2,464 average

* Not clear what date the totals are up to as various figures elsewhere are dated all across January but I'm assuming these totals are correct to 4th February.

The sales for SS are pretty decent and actually better than I expected them to be! Could sell up to 100k in the long run.

 Nice to have an update! I'm kind of surprised that Say Something is achieving higher weekly sales than Magic.

Also good to have confirmation that I was right about this  :kink:

Same! Especially as its the first song on the album. Its currently getting better worldwide streams on Spotify, without even considering the single version, but I suppose it's been getting decent airplay over Europe.

Yep, should be about May time if it keeps selling at the same rate. 'Dancing' reached 75k in 14 weeks compared to 27 weeks for 'Say Something'.

Seems very low for Magic and Real Groove though of course many of their streams could be outside of the UK.

All three have suffered with the minimal TV performances, though it’s good to see reasonable numbers as most now come from streaming.

I kind of expected magic to be on at least 60k for some reason but maybe it having 2 weeks top 75 distorted my sales hope's.

OCC have posted the Top 40 best selling songs of 1988 as revealed on Channel 5's Britain's Favourite 80s Songs:

1988 was also the breakout year for Kylie Minogue; the Australian singer landed an impressive five Top 2 singles that year, all of which land on the end-of-year chart. Her debut UK release, I Should Be So Lucky, is third on 616,000 sales, followed by Jason Donovan collaboration Especially For You in fourth on 555,000 sales.

Official Top 40 best-selling songs of 1988

3 I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY KYLIE MINOGUE

4 ESPECIALLY FOR YOU KYLIE MINOGUE & JASON DONOVAN

11 THE LOCO-MOTION KYLIE MINOGUE

20 JE NE SAIS PAS POURQUOI KYLIE MINOGUE

21 GOT TO BE CERTAIN KYLIE MINOGUE

Would have been great if 'Got to Be Certain' could have just sneaked into the Top 20 too, but what a year 1988 was for Kylie!
