Then again, that create a Champion/Price Tag/Born This Way scenario where one is falling so quickly and another isn't gaining fast enough, giving the one everyone's forgotten (Example, in this case) the #1. I doubt that'll happen this week though.

I did suggest this yesterday. I doubt it will happen too though.

I hope Beyonce does knock that crap off the top spot, so I'm hoping the vid will give it a last minute boost before Sunday's official chart, fingers crossed.
Thursday Update Top 40 Only

Singles

Chris Brown/Justin Bieber :puke2:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Have you actually heard the song, Martin? If not I think you should, before giving the " :puke2: " sign. Never judge a book by it's cover etc.. etc.. :P

It's rather excellent and I for one am happy to see it climb top 40! :D Hopefully it gets higher soon.

Its not necessairly true that the lead is SURE to start dropping, Yes the Glasto effect will be decreasing as we are now at Thursday however airplay is increasing so that may help it continue to climb as more and more people are actually hearing it as i'm sure some people actually havent even heard it yet as it wasnt even top 40 on airplay last week, however thats sure to be higher this week and is now A-List Radio-1 :) Also the hype is still around, especially with Beyonce album at #1 so thats helping too.

If i'm honest, i'd LOVE it to be #1 and that'd be great, but seeing it in top 3 is actually great in itself, it will at least be #2 come Sunday (I still think it could be #1) and its doing so well, and just so glad it is becoming a hit after RTW underperformance, also with a video its set to be a decent sized hit :D So whatever happens all good, + #1 album for sure come Sunday! :w00t:

SFTTR #23, higher come tomorrow i hope! :)

So 21 is going for its 23rd week in the top 2, is that right? And 24th would be a new record? :o

Of course we can never be 100% but we can be 99.99999% sure as every single other album release follows this pattern ad nauseum. And a lot of those, and/or on-air/on-sale releases, have their airplay rock bottom and increasing in the track's release (album or on-air-on-sale) week.

I think its going to miss out on #1 now; I'd put its chances at less than 10% even IF the video is released now. Still, it'll chart AT LEAST at #2, and that would still be a great position

Depends how far back you wanna go! Yes if you're talking about post 1980, pre there a good few albums that went longer, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" By Simon & Garfunkel for example, and of course Beatles albums in the 60s along with soundtracks to films etc.

The nearest comparable "modern" album was Oasis's "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" which was in the top 3 (some of those weeks at No 3) for 30 wks in 95/96 :)

I heard though that the longest ever time spent in the TOP 2 was 23 weeks by The Carpenters? :)

Exactly #2 is such a great position, higher then i expected so #1 would just be a bonus for Bey, especially as she has the #1 album come Sunday and her last album back in top 40 and Irreplaceable back in top 40 and RTW getting a big jump this week.

So Beyonce's [bTINH] daily chart run looks like (xx-xx-11-06-03) now - I reckon she'll pull off #1 come Sunday; I have all of my fingers crossed for her - the Glastonbury performance was worth it!

With the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, The Saturdays and Jennifer Lopez (at #20 and #21) - I think it'll be extremely difficult for Adele to crack the top 20 by Sunday. She's been at #23 throughout the week, so even climbing a place or two seems a push at the moment; although if she continues to climb on iTunes - things could end up differently.

Carpenters album did spent 23 weeks in ther top two in 1974 so that was probn the most recent album to do it but BOTW defo spent 29 wks in the top 2 back in 1970...

She is #15 right now so i'm sure she'll climb at least another 2 places like last week. :) Just need a video out now, its doing so well on the back of just radio at the moment, a video would boost it straight to top 10 at the least! ..I wonder when its official release date is..

 Tom own up now  I did not post the update this morning, take note of the day and time that third post box was created. :(

Oh no, I was hoping N2Y would miss out on the top 40 as it wasn't in the previous updates :( I was enjoying the lack of Bieber in the top 40.

Another Coldplay entry down on both charts. Hopefully they'll still keep ETIAW, IMP and AROBTTH top 40 in their respective charts (ETIAW is certain of course, but I'm worried about the other two)

As there are albums which have spent longer than that at #1 alone, that couldn't possibly be true.

Have a look from here onwards: http://everyhit.com/numberalb1.html

Thursday Update Top 40 Only

Singles

7 Coldplay [TIAW]

Tom, do you have a problem with the word 'every' being in the title, or do you you just think Coldplay's titles should be shorter? (Given their last album title, you may have a point...)

Chig

could it be consecutive? It'd still need to exclude soundtracks/OSTs to be fair. Prob just random MW - they often cut off records as some later dates now :arrr:

no Fri #s yet? :( Anyways, when they come out, if Bey is still at #3 than is positively not looking like a #1 on Sunday. If shes #2, which is very possible, I still dont think shell catch him with only a 10-15% lead on iTunes

Yeah OK, that was me :P The only JB song I can tolerate is Somebody To Love.

 Didn't spot that Chig, sorry. To be fair the Beyonce album was abbreviated as SF  San Francisco, Science Fiction? :kink:

They'll be up between 11am and 11:30am UK time.

Just imagine if Beyonce was #1 in today's update!

I think she'll be #3 though tbh. :(

I'm hoping Beyoncé will be #2 but there's pretty much no chance that she'll get #1 this week.
I really hope Beyonce is #2 today, it doesnt matter now, top 3 is great so anything else is just a bonus! I'm curious how much she'll sell this week '4' and whether she'll get #1 for 2nd week or could Adele go back to #1
