So, yeah, a tiny bit late but here we are non the less.

The Federal Republic of Ashton, in association with SugaRecordings Pty Ltd and SNÁ Midue Pty Ltd, on behalf of the Buzzjack Broadcasting Union would like to invite you to participate in the very first Buzzjack Song Contest CD Swap.

To take part in this CD Swap you MUST have either participated in the 35th BJSC or be competing in the 36th BJSC.

Rulez etc

1 - The CD should not exceed 80minutes [1hr and 20] in length [so it could fit on a standard CD, this equates to between 19 and 21 songs. Unless you are of the indie orientation where it can be anything between 1 and 80 songs, depending how far up pitchforks arse you are]

2 - The CD should have no information on it. I.e. the tracks should be names 'Track 1' etc, no artist information and the Name of your compilation should be the album name. There will be a tutorial posted before I vanish to the United States on how to strip the tagged info from your compilation

3 - This is to be anonymous, so do not post the title of your compilation at any time until your CD has been reviewed

4 - As this is an extension of the Buzzjack Song Contest, when making your CD please do try to avoid BJSC songs and anything 'cheap' as the aim is to introduce people to new music outside of a competitive environment

5 - You have until July 31st to PM CD's to me. They should be uploaded to Multipupload or similar.

6 - By signing up to do this you agree to write a short review of the CD you receive. [i'm not being unreasonable, a score out of ten and what you thought about the track for each track will suffice as a minimum] After people putting in the effort to make the CD's it is only fair you take a small amount of time to listen and honestly review.

So, yeah. If you have any questions just yell and I'll get back to you ASAP or someone who has done the Indie forum CD Swap will answer.

Get mixing people!

I'll definitely take part, although I'll need a few weeks to think about a tracklist :o
So this is meant to be a CD full of the songs that we never got round to sending for whatever reason, yes? :D

I set the date as the end of July so there was plenty of time

If you want it to be, yeah.

Prepare to be indied away.

I am to take part as well.

It will be my first CD Swap!

Promise I won't include any Le Kid! HAHA

I am quite looking forward to my first CD swap as well!

Shall prepare properly for this and immidately commence a list of potential songs in a word document :cheer:

I might take part...there's a bunch of songs I really like and have known for ages...but aren't really the sort of thing I'd send to BJSC. Might try to include many different genres just to be interesting.

When I heard this first I thought we were actually going to write them to Cds and send them off in the mail.

I don't really understand though....how can something you upload on the internet ever be a CD? A CD is the physical entity....

Edit: What happens if two people happened to put the same song on their CD, would that work ok?

Also is it just a collection of separate mp3 or will they have to go in succession from one to the next (like on a cd). I'm a bit confused about the layout...

If you want it to be? I thought that was the point in this in the first place? Or is it just for those who want to take part in the CD Swap, but want it to be more pop varied than indie? I'm confused LOL.

I have a couple of questions! :)

This is fine by me, but may I ask the reason behind this rule? Is it usual to do this in a CD swap? Because I thought the most important thing was not revealing who compiled the CD, and not necessarily anonomising artist names and track titles. Or maybe I've just misunderstood something

3 - This is to be anonymous, so do not post the title of your compilation at any time until your CD has been reviewed

Can it be named anything? Or is it most appropriote to call it something like "Freeze's compilation"?

5 - You have until July 31st to PM CD's to me. They should be uploaded to Multipupload or similar.

Everytime I've uploaded tracks to a filesharing site, I've uploaded them individually. Is there a way to upload the songs in a specific manner in order to make them "compiled"? I've noticed that Peter had done this for XXXV, but I wouldn't know how to do it :(

Right. So just to be clear; a simple structure of review content in a word document, then? ^_^

That's all for now. You see I'm all new to this, so I just have to ask!

No lol, it was meant to push up activity in this forum. It doesn't have to be more pop orientated [but it will end up being no doubt]

The point is to introduce people to new music, and making it all anonymous stops you from forming opinions on a track without hearing it. [Like if I see Darin is the artist, I've decided it's $h!t long before it starts playing]

It should be named in a manner that does not give away it's creator. So nothing in the title relating to Ashton, Phil or Silas for me.

I'll put up a tutorial on uploading too. You compress it to a .rar or .zip file and upload that.

As far as I can tell, the aim isn't really to include songs related to BJSC. So none of your previous entries.

So more discoveries I guess.

I'll deffo do a CD, for fairness I'll try and make it varied between pop/indie so whoever gets my CD will hopefully have something they like/discover ^_^
I'm definitely up for this. Expect a mixture of BJSC rejects, 90s and 2000s flop pop, and maybe the odd 80s classic :o
Certainly interested in this. Can't think of many at this moment that I really love but don't think others would know, but I have plenty of time to do some searching :D

Something that's pretty neat about this....is that since there's no real competitive side to it. We could see much more abstract and unlikely songs through this.

I'll try to make my song styles vary...but it might not be super bjsc friendly either. :P

Who cares. I know for sure mine won't be anything-friendly, even indie. Ha.
