With the rate this is climbing, could this return Linkin Park to the top 10 :o? (The fact it's a midweek release won't help it though )

rather good move by Linkin Park - not only releasing a live track, but making it by the most successful and taked about artist of the year  think it will probably fall after the initial boost though, actually, we could be seeing loads of these live tracks as the Itunes festival is all month :o

32 Evanescence/ Bring Me To Life

50 The Kooks/ Naive

55 Snoop Dogg ft Pharrell Williams/ Drop It Like It's Hot

If it is every song in the top 40 is a club anthem.

And every song in the top 40 IS a club anthem.

Talking about club bangers, I hope something can knock Mr. Saxobeat out of the top 10. I liked it at first, but it's incredibly boring and generic to me now (although today I say a random girl dancing to it on a main road which was quite funny ). Hopefully Nicki Minaj or Adele can get in the top 10.

admittedly I'm not sure if you're being serious here , but there are at least 10 songs in the Itunes top 40 currently that aren't anyway close to 'club anthems'

I was kind of exaggerating. But it seriously seems that way sometimes. :( And even when I listen to Capital or Radio 1, and they play like 4 club songs in succession, it's a bit like :drama:. Although I do understand, since they're supposed to reflect what's popular in what they play (or else they could be playing random classical and tribal songs all the time (well, I guess there was Ludivico), which I'm sure their listeners don't really want to hear ).

Songs in the top 40 that aren't club bangers:

The A Team

Best Thing I Never Had

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

California King Bed

Right There

The Mack

Next 2 You

I Need a Dollar

Pumped Up Kicks

I'm Into You

Someone Like You

Run the World

Bring Me to Life

Fix You

Lighters

Rolling in the Deep

^ Now THAT would make a good top 16.

You mean to say that 'Run The World' is not a club song but 'The Lazy Song' is?

Neither are. I just forgot to include The Lazy Song. I noticed I also missed out Set Fire to the Rain.

I wasn't sure whether Last Friday Night qualifies, but I decided not to include it, because someone would probably do what you just did if I included it.

That would be a good top 18 though. So refreshing. It's really worrying that over HALF the top 40 are club songs! :o

Continuing to move forward at a really quick pace. This could beat both Nicki and Adele (how coincidental) to the punch re: the top 10!

I think some of the songs in the top 40 that you are stating are club songs, aren't 'designed' to be played in the club, even though they are. (e.g. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)

The songs that I'd class as 'club bangers' are:

DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans - Louder

Jason Derulo - Don't Wanna Go Home

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

Calvin Harris feat. Kelis - Bounce

Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer - Give Me Everything

Alexandra Stan - Mr. Saxobeat

David Guetta feat. Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj - Where Them Girls At?

LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem

Vato Gonzalez feat. Foreign Beggars - Badman Riddim (Jump)

Enrique Iglesias feat. Usher & Lil' Wayne - Dirty Dancer

Beyonce - Run The World (Girls)

Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi - Beautiful People

Snoop Dogg vs. David Guetta - Sweat

Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor

Black Eyed Peas - Don't Stop The Party

LMFAO feat. Natalia Kills - Champagne Showers

16/40

This week looks like another big win for Adele - as well as both of her albums holding their positions it looks like SLY and RITD could both climb as well as SFTTR obviously, plus a cover of RITD will be charting too! The only negative for her is MYFML will probably fall but hey, it'ss been top 100 for a non-consecutive year now :P

Yeah, that might be true. It's difficult with Last Friday Night aswell. I mean, I don't think club songs are supposed to have that much guitar in them, are they? But it sounds kind of club, but kind of not. But I thought if I was questioning it, it's better to just not include it in the first place.

If RITD goes top 10, I think it would help Nicki and Adele in their quest for top 10, rather than hinder them. Mr. Saxobeat will fall quicker without the top 10 effect, with will leave Nicki or Adele at #11 when RITD falls out of the top 10 again (I doubt it'll stay there for long). It's like what used to happen with Glee Cast every week in the US. They'd get like 5 songs in the top 10, and when they'd all gone, the new top 10 would sometimes be significantly different to the old one. Although obviously the airplay factor mean their official charts didn't move much faster.

Today's top 100 update will be slightly behind - I do it from iTunes itself rather than the feed as the feed may spotaneously update itself while I'm typing up the top 100 but iTunes itself doesn't do this. But yeah, it hasn't updated yet and still has LP at #40. Sorry about that :P There aren't any other major differences

Edited by Bré

SFTTR is nearly top 10 combined... without a video and album that sold SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many... and a third single. GOD.

Today's top 100 update (slightly incorrect 8pm positions):

Six new entries today. As with yesterday, all but one are due to the songs being reduced to 59p. Linkin Park have the highest new entry, with their cover of Rolling In The Deep by Adele from the London 2011 iTunes Festival entering at #40. And then the 59p songs entering are: McFly feat. Taio Cruz - Shine A Light (#87), Dire Straits - Romeo And Juliet (#89), JLS - Eyes Wide Shut (the album version - #92), Biffy Clyro - Mountains (#97) and Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby (#98). No re-entries today, so the 6 dropouts are two songs from Beyoncé (Irreplaceable and End Of Time) and one each from Bombay Bicycle Club, Paramore, Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I can't believe Shine a Light is back in the top 100. What a tragedy.

I'm glad it is. I really want it to become their highest selling single as it's literally their only song that ascends out of the 'pretty good' pile. Although I think All About You has quite a big lead as their highest seller. Every little helps though.
