Posted July 4, 201114 yr DJ Fresh leading MoS chart domination 10:57 | Tuesday July 5, 2011 By Paul Williams Source: MW Singles Ministry of Sound could end up with the UK’s top two singles this weekend with its acts DJ Fresh and Example currently heading the singles market. The Dr Fresh single Louder, which features Sian Evans, has had a very strong start following its release this week as it opens with 62,734 sales, according to Official Charts Company data. This is more than the combined totals currently of its three closest rivals, led by fellow MoS act Example’s Changed The Way You Kiss Me, which is the week to date’s second top seller. Little more than 100 sales behind it in third spot is RCA’s newly-issued single How We Roll by Loick Essien featuring Tanya Lacey. Warner Bros act Jason Derulo, whose Don’t Wanna Go Home, spent a second week at number one last Sunday, is now placed fourth in the new chart week, while Beyonce’s RCA-handled single Best Thing I Never Had slips 5-3, but she is still leading the way on albums, albeit by only around 3,600 sales and with weekly sales down 61%. Albums Last Sunday’s top five artist album sellers are at this stage lining up in exactly the same order with Beyonce’s 4 album at one, XL act Adele’s 21 at two, Interscope/Polydor’s Lady GaGa with Born This Way at three, Polydor’s Take That set Progress at four at XL act Adele’s 19 at five. Soul UK, Beverley Knight’s second album on her own Hurricane label, is the week’s biggest-selling new album and is currently the sixth best seller and only newly-issued title to be appearing among the Top 10 positions. Lower down new albums are showing up from Yes, via the Frontiers label, Hollywood’s Selena Gomez & The Scene, Dirty Hit’s Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Lioness/Island’s Dionne Bromfield. Meanwhile, Columbia act the Foo Fighters are benefiting from their Milton Keynes Bowl concert last Saturday, which featured special guests Alice Cooper and Roger Taylor, with sales of their current studio album Wasting Light up 16% and Greatest Hits up 18%. They are currently the week’s 14th and 23rd biggest artist album sellers. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 DJ Fresh ft. [02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute. [03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away. [04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard. [05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude. [06] Do not use Text Talk. [07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision. [08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see. [09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures. [10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.
July 5, 201114 yr Well the first number one in any context for Sian Evans is worth a party Hell yes! I wonder if Kosheen get some profile boost after this. I miss them, hopefully the album is in the finish lines!
July 5, 201114 yr I'm interested in seeing what 'Louder' has sold already in its first two days of release. If it's already sold anything over 50k then we're definitely looking at the biggest first week sales of the year for a #1 single - hopefully it bodes well and DJ Fresh and maintain his place as the UK's no. 1 single for a few weeks.
With the EP and pre-order sales factored in I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 70k - and I also wouldn't be surprised if despite that it fell short of 200k for the week since those two factors will make it pretty frontloaded. With the albums, Beyoncé is doing badly if she can't hold Adele off for another week. "4" has replaced DJ Fresh at the top of the iTunes album chart now though, so if that's anything to go by she'll be fine.
July 5, 201114 yr Hopefully Example stays at #2 by Sunday, and I hoped for DJ Fresh sales. :( I think he sold something like 50k without pre-orders, and you know how massive the pre-orders were for him.
July 5, 201114 yr I think it's safe to say that Adele has beaten The Carpenters record and will continue more weeks in the top 2
July 5, 201114 yr Oh glad to see Derulo slump to 4. Hope Beyonce overtakes by Sunday. Edited July 5, 201114 yr by Christian
July 5, 201114 yr DeRulo is #3 in iTunes though... He should be held out by Loick, not sure about Example. When is Beyonce video out?
July 5, 201114 yr Bloody hell at Beverley Knight. Obviously I expect a heavy drop by the end of the week but #6 is so much higher than I expected. Impressed.
July 5, 201114 yr 17 Adele [sFTTR] :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: #14 on iTunes at the moment, who knows could climb higher as the week goes on, i'll be happy with #19+ for this week :D
