Example opened with 115k which is excellent opening sales. Yes, it's not as high as 'Grenade', 'On The Floor' or 'Someone Like You' but still it had great first week sales. I also don't think people can class tracks as being "frontloaded" anymore. People are still buying 'I Gotta Feeling' and 'Sex On Fire' so it just proves that songs continue selling well long after their initial release date.

I'd say you can class songs as frontloaded. Songs like Broken Record, Louder (Parade) and half the number ones from last year had pretty ridiculous runs with an artificially large first few weeks. Example: #1 80k, #4 40k, #9 30k, #18 17k, #27 12k, #38 9k. That to me indicates lots of sales being compressed into the first few weeks where most of the promo and build up was a few few weeks before/on release weeks. Of course the genuinely big hits have some legs, such as Example, JLo ann Bruno, but you know what I mean. :P

If these tracks where held up, then they wouldn't be as 'front heavy' as sales would be spread out (i'm not saying that they'll sell more because I'm actually someone who things OA/OS could hinder overall sales), therefore usually leaving them with a chart run like 34 - 26 - 19 - 16 - 13 - 12 - 12 - 14 - 17 - 23 - 28 - 35 - 39 or something as apposed to the one I posted above. I Gotta Feeling was practically OA/OS as it was already on the album, and Sex On Fire was a genuinely big hit, I'm sure Grenade will trickle sell for the next few years too. Whereas Once and Dirtee Disco probably sell nothing now, and also made #1 after being frontloaded, and these were more recent than your examples. :P

Anyway, I'll shut up now because I think I'm going round in circles and beginning to make no sense. :(

Time to admit that I live under a rock-I haven't heard this DJ Fresh song (or the one at no.3)! Are they any good?

Heresy-DJ Fresh can do no wrong great song, great video

Great to see Beverley getting alot of love on BJ, this release is on her own label so maybe things will get better for her sales wise.Poor Dionne Broomfield things seem to have stalled for her but she has alot of potential.

This has probably been asked, but what were Bruno's first days sales for 'Grenade'? Or did we not get any info?

We didn't get his first day sales, but MusicWeek did say he had outsold his four nearest challengers combined (Jessie J, Rihanna, Adele, Katy B )

Ouch, a big slump. I hope she can at least do 40k this week.

Usually with albums I use this formula Tues sales 12.5 X 2.5, which gives it an estimate of 32k-ish, say 35k as a safe guide.

62k for Louder. That's pretty impressive for 2 days.

62k on day one certainly looks like it could get 150k (and beat Bruno, that's the important thing), we just have to hope it's not really really frontloaded. Very boring top 40 singles otherwise, Loick will obviously be #2 tomorrow which is just ridiculous, to re-state something gooddelta (?) said the other day, he's a second-rate Taio Cruz and Taio is already the most boring person in music at the moment. :( Hopefully Example can hold onto #3 anyway but I have a feeling he'll end up falling to #5.

That's a huge sales drop for '4', it'll be #1 this week but 21 could be a serious challenger to knock her off next week. It could have several more weeks at #1 since the album release schedule is ridiculously dry for the next couple of months! So then 21 will have 11 weeks at #1 with really high sales (>100k), 5 weeks at #1 with decent sales (50-100k) and a few more weeks at #1 with low sales (<50k) Unless SFTTR can push her back above 50k of course. Speaking of Adele, great to see SFTTR up 4, SLY reclimbing (won't last though) and 19 still top 5 for a 21st week in a row :cheer:

Good to see Chase & Status, Foo Fighters x2, Seasick Steve, The Vaccines and Biffy - OR climbing :D Where has Biffy's 'Revolutions // Live At Wembley' plummetted to?

Surprised Peter Andre isn't top 40 today. I assume he has no physicals then.

"Congratulations to Adele as Someone Like You has now sold ONE MILLION copies! It's the first release this decade to break the barrier and took 23 weeks.

The single has spent 5 weeks in 2 separate spells at Number One. This week both '21' and '19' have spent their 20th week in the Top 5 together with '21' now selling a staggering 2.6m copies in 23 weeks."

brilliant first day sales for DJ Fresh :D I hope it can beat Bruno's first week sales, although 120-140k is more likely

not much else of note, but SLY at a million :o so this would be the first time we will end the year with at least one million seller (as opposed to songs passing a million after the release year) since 2005? great :D 21 should return to number 1 soon and be there a while, the release schedule is so dry atm

The Mack will be Iyaz's 5th top 40 hit. The total number of letters in the titles of those 5 songs is 29.

Absolutely fantastic for Adele and well deserved. I wonder if there will be anymore million sellers between now and December for songs released within 2011? 'Price Tag' is definitely a contender.

I don't think Price Tag will make it before the end of the year. Infact, I can't see any songs out at the moment being potential million-sellers before December, but I think Price Tag, Party Rock Anthem and Give Me Everything could get there within a few years.

PT only has ~149.2k to go and it's still top 40. It'll pass the million mark in early 2012 at the latest but I think it has a very good chance of doing it this year since XF will probably use it a lot.

I know it's been said before, but well done Adele, what a massive achievement, so quickly and from a massive album :cheer:.
Yay for Adele  Disappointed in Selena though, her other 2 albums reached top 15 but WTSGD (which is her best so far) will fall from the top 20 to something like 25 by Sunday :(
