Today's top 100 update

Two new entries today. The single version of Magnetic Man feat. P Money - Anthemic enters at #69 after just missing the top 100 yesterday. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat is the first of no doubt several songs from the tracklisting of 'Now That's What I Call Music!, Vol. 79' to enter the top 100, at #76 (the album itself has knocked Amy Winehouse off the top of the iTunes Albums Chart). Chipmunk feat. Trey Songz - Take Off re-enters at #93 after a one-day absence. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Tiësto have dropouts to accommodate the 3 top 100 entries.

YES! I knew 'Super Bass' would be doing well from cherry pickers :wub: Shame it's behind one of the worst songs of 2011 in popularity though :puke: (No. Not J Lo :P)

#11, #157 & #200 now! Hopefully top 10 combined with other entries combined too!

shock horror, check the live popbars and Super Bass is number 11!

Just hoping Amy Winehouse drops fast and it can get top 10 before this sundays releases, as I'm sure if it hits itunes top 10 it'll bounce straight up to 6 or 7

Wow. Super Bass still #11? That's actually hilarious, I remember when I was about to go my school prom it was around #11 on iTunes and two months later it's still there.
It already has.....it's number 16 on itunes
Haha. That was a typo :lol: I've now corrected. :P
Example=Calvin Harris anyway tbh.

The two have some fairly freaky complete coincidences in their chart history (if you ignore the whole of Example's pre-WGQ career, 'Won't Go Quietly', 'Two Lives', 'Game Over' and 'Monster' anyway :P)

'Acceptable In The 80s' = 'Won't Go Quietly'

Both decent-sized low top 10 hits.

'The Girls' = 'Kickstarts'

Both big #3 hits (the only difference is Kickstarts was bigger than WGQ, whereas AIT80 was bigger than TG)

'I Created Disco' = 'Won't Go Quietly' (album)

Both respectable size top 10 albums (although WGQ went top 5 and ICD didn't)

'Merrymaking At My Place' = 'Last Ones Standing'

Post-album singles, not anywhere near as successful as the first 2 singles (although again Example was quite a bit bigger, he went top 40 and Calvin didn't)

'Dance Wiv Me' = 'Unorthodox'

The artists get their highest peaking single to date as a featured artist between albums (although Calvin got his first #1 now and Example didn't)

'I'm Not Alone' = 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me'

The artists return with more 'dancey' material and get their first solo #1s.

Okay, some of these are a bit tenuous :lol: But I hope it doesn't mean 'Stay Awake' misses #1.

I'm so glad that "Back To Black" is the song that's doing the best, it's ultimately Amy's best track! :)

Yep great track and my favourite. Haunting video too.

Example=Calvin Harris anyway tbh.

whoa! blasphemy

I'm also very surprised that JLS are being caught up by The Wanted of all artists, aren't they usually very front loaded?

The Wanted aren't really gaining on JLS that quickly. They were at 0.5 this morning and 0.51 now. JLS will definitely still be #1 at the end of the week I think and probably still with a lead of about 20% minimum I reckon.

The Wanted are still holding up remarkably well though :o Louder's top version is still only 2/3 of The Wanted's bar, which is only a tiny bit more than it was at The Wanted's peak! Their actual sales had a bit of a dropoff last week but nearly 75k for a second-week sale of a boyband single is very good (better than Beat Again's second week, although The Wanted topped BA's first-week sales too) and they'll probably still be around the 60k mark this week I think. This seems to be a genuinely really big hit for them. I wonder how they've managed to buck the trend of diminishing returns? :o (Although having said that JLS seem to have done that too, SMMW looks like it'll massively outsell TCIA and may even be their highest first-week sales (despite the lack of an XF performance) the way it's going!)

That paragraph was a bit rambly. SAUSAGES! :magic:

I think that's simply just because the song is much stronger than most of their others (e.g. particularly Gold Forever and Heart Vacancy).

By releasing a song with genuine widespread appeal outside their core fanbase. Happens to most pop acts once or twice in their career - Steps - Tragedy, S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin', Eternal - I Wanna Be The Only One, Boyzone - No Matter What, Westlife - You Raise Me Up (you could argue Flying Without Wings from a legacy point of view but YRMU had FAR more longevity than Westlife had ever seen before) etc...
