89. So Far Away - Carole King

This was used at Amy Winehouse's funeral. Was that televised or something? Surprised to see it so high...

Calvin and Pitbull have switched! :( I wish Nicki could knock out Calvin!
I've got Pitbull at #8 now. I wouldn't mind if he goes though. I think he's had his time in the top 10 now.
Sorry Spiidey, I actually laughed out loud! Super ass, what will I knock out, Bounce - all in the same sentence - too much innuendo :drama:

I wonder if Minja's super ass bounces? :D

More to the point, who will she knock out (with it) first?

It's interesting that the singles that have spent the longest in the Top 10 (and also have become the biggest sellers) like Pitbull were OA/OS.

"Don't Wanna Go Home" has already slumped to No15 - you can build up demand, but you can't stop it from falling like a stone!

Well, some on air, on sale songs, like The Edge of Glory and Where Them Girls At went straight to #1 on iTunes, and then fell quite fast, but they both re-climbed after getting more promotion. That happens in the US a lot (where 99% of the songs there are on air, on sale). In the US songs usually peak 3 times. The first peak being the fanbase buys in the days after the release, and then the other peaks come when the music video is released, and when the Lil Wayne remix is released.

Exactly the same thing has happened to Example, CTWYKM is down to 18 already, held back releases can have impressive first week sales, but not necessarily longevity

The format on itunes where it shows the top 10 on the homepage makes it alot easier for acts to stick around in the top 10 these days. But you notice as soon as they drop out they tend to plummet.

If it wasn't for this format super bass would have been top 10 on itunes a long time ago, this same reason means that when it reaches top 10 in the next day or so (which looks inevitable now :yahoo: ) it'll probably climb to number 5 or 6 very quickly, and stick around alot longer.

Ultimately, Super Bass could end up close to being this years longest runner in the top 40 :o

I'm sure Someone Like You will be the year's longest runner in the top 40. Or maybe Love the Way You Lie, if that counts, since it was still top 40 in January 2011, and had been in the top 40 since June 2010! :o That's absolutely insane. That's like if Glad You Came stayed in the top 40 until February next year! :o

That seems a little bit optimistic. To do that it can't spend more than 6/7 weeks (depending on how you define the year) outside the top 40 for the rest of the year, even if Someone Like You drops out now.

And if Someone Like You sticks around in the top 40 for 7/8 more weeks (again depending on how you define the year) Nicki can't beat her. And I'm sure it could do that or at least come close and make it harder for Nicki to overtake her.

But really I don't think Nicki will even come close to Adele. She's only sticking around for so long now because of the extremely dry release schedule.

but it'll easily manage that.......theres only about 20 weeks left, it'll spend the majority in the top 40 i would have thought

You think? I don't. It won't have anywhere near the amount of continued radio support it'd need to pull off such an enormous chart run.

We shall see anyway :P

I don't think it'll bother someone like you, was a bit optimistic with my comment before the original edit :P

but it's done 12 weeks so far, i think it's got at least another 12 in it, and honestly think it could manage more, but as i said it all relies on it making itunes top 10

12? 9. :P I think it could possibly make it to 20.

Someone Like You is on 25 and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Plus it'll probably be used a lot on XF.

As Bray said, Someone Like You gets much more radio support, and will be on the radio regularly for years tbh. Super Bass will probably be a uncommon to hear on the radio in 4 months time. Even now, I don't hear it that much.

I can pretty much guarantee Someone Like You will end up back in the top 10 thanks to X-Factor  I'm actually shocked I'm not fed up of it tbh, it's one of my top 5 songs of the year!
