July 31, 201115 yr Hello chart people :D Hoping to see Amy have 5 songs top 40, I suspect 'You Know I'm No Good' will have dropped out though and maybe 'Love Is A Losing Game' too. She'll definitely have the other 3 at least. And hopefully Back To Black hasn't dropped out of the top 10. I think Scott is doing the show today. I wonder why he seems to be doing it so often these days? Edited July 31, 201115 yr by Bré
July 31, 201115 yr Some great #1s, All Time Low, Wannabe, Eternal Flame  Great choice for ROTW as well Martin :D Edited July 31, 201115 yr by Jáhq
July 31, 201115 yr "Empire" that would have done so much better had it been held back! Was it not this week last year that saw seven songs reach 50k (I seem to remember SHM finishing on exactly 50,000 as well)? Will be interesting to see if the % 2011 sales are ahead of 2010 drops this week, I'm assuming the top 3 will be higher and most of the top 40 below #10.

SHM sold either exactly 50,000 or 49,999 depending on what source you use. IIRC it was officially reported by Music Week that it sold exactly 50k but then OZAP (?) reported 49,999. Let me see if I can find the thread :P The last week of 2010/first of 2011 (depending on how you classify it - the one the full iTunes gift card effect :P) also had an all-over-50k top 7, Take That sold some 54k-ish at #7 IIRC. July 31, 201115 yr Eternal Flame and Bootylicious top 2, now that's a brilliant top 2! And Wannabe still at #1 in 1996. Wonderful top 5 from 2006 as well. And 2010's chart is getting much better after the mid-summer lull, with I Need Air, One , Airplanes, and the entire top 5.
July 31, 201115 yr Author  And Wannabe still at #1 in 1996. There will be 5 more weeks after this one......
July 31, 201115 yr Yup, it was exactly 50k as reported by MW: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11539 "With sales of exactly 50,000, One (Your Name) has the third highest tally for a number seven hit in 552 weeks in the 21st century, trailing only The Honeyz’ Won’t Take It Lying Down, 51,478 sales, week 9, 2000) and Black Eyed Peas’ Shut Up (50,303 sales, week 51, 2003). It’s also higher than 195 21st century number one sales." Travie McCoy also sold exactly 67k that week - must be pretty rare for one song in the top 10 to have a sale of xx,000, let alone two in the same week :o Edited July 31, 201115 yr by Bré

July 31, 201115 yr There will be 5 more weeks after this one...... 5? Damn. I knew it was there for a while, but I'd never checked how long.
July 31, 201115 yr 07. (-) Alanis Morissette - Head Over Feet My highlight of Jagged Little Pill, brilliant I didn't realise JLP is that old, its ranked as one of my best all time albums, I must dig it out, I haven't heard it for a long time.
July 31, 201115 yr Author 5? Damn. I knew it was there for a while, but I'd never checked how long. Yep, 7 weeks - knocked off by some Peter Andre rubbish :(
July 31, 201115 yr And mine actually. I think I might go and listen to it now! I heard it whilst picking up some bits in the Co-op a few weeks back and it reignited my love affair for it! Looking back at the 2006, Xtina had SO many supporters - I was fully behind Shakira returning to #1 (and very glad that it happened), I didn't rate Ain't No Other Man much as a comeback single and it's not exactly fondly remembered these days like Hips Don't Lie is.

July 31, 201115 yr Anyway, am I correct in saying JLS' fifth #1 will officially make them the most successful 'TV talent show act' ever in terms of number of #1 singles? I'm sure the previous record was 4 each for Girls Aloud, Will Young and Gareth Gates. Of course if you count her two solo #1s alongside her 4 with GA, Cheryl Cole is on 6. Then I suppose you'd also have to include Helping Haiti to make it #7, but then you have to count that for JLS as well and also 'Hero', putting them up to 7 as well  So it's easier to just not do so at all Edited July 31, 201115 yr by Bré
