Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow charts for the first time :D How on EARTH did Stronger Than Me get that high when it was never top 300 on iTunes?!? NOTHING can be a better start to the chart show than Right There.  Someone Like You will probably climb again next week as the Amy Winehouse and Now album songs fall.
July 31, 201115 yr This sounds hugely like Breathing Your Love by Darin/Kat DeLuna! I'm sure that everyone else was thinking exactly the same thing. :teresa:
July 31, 201115 yr Author Shocked it made it this high! A shame it couldn't make it higher though - her version is easily up there with Back To Black as one of the greatest tracks of all time. I only bought the Bridget Jones: Edge Of Reason soundtrack at the time for the Will Young song but had a lovely surprise 3 years later when I found an Amy Winehouse song on it!
July 31, 201115 yr And anyway, they talked about it a bit more, and they said something along the lines of them not playlisting artists who put out "cookie-cutter" pop songs, or something like that, and they specifically mentioned Enrique Iglesias, Sharkira and Alexandra Burke, if I remember correctly. Proving they haven't listened to Shakira in the last 5 years then...
July 31, 201115 yr Last year Radio 1 did a behind the scenes week, or something like that. Where the listeners had more on an insight of what went behind the scenes. One of the things they did in that week was on Twitter they had someone tweet what happened in one of the playlist meetings (and what actually happens is they essentially listen to a selection of songs and the playlist panel decides whether to playlist it). I beleive it was the week Poison by Nicole Scherzinger got playlisted that this happened. And anyway, they talked about it a bit more, and they said something along the lines of them not playlisting artists who put out "cookie-cutter" pop songs, or something like that, and they specifically mentioned Enrique Iglesias, Sharkira and Alexandra Burke, if I remember correctly. Seriously? Shakira's one of the most individual and original pop artists out there. Certainly ANY of her singles are less cookie-cutter than 75% of the pop that they playlist :/
July 31, 201115 yr Good to see Adele only dropping seven this week despite the barrage of Amy Winehouse songs and the Now! 79 related climbers. Half a year in the top 40 for this now, including the two weeks at the start of its run :D I hope Foster The People are still to come but I have a bad feeling they may have dropped out of the top 40... July 31, 201115 yr Seriously? Shakira's one of the most individual and original pop artists out there. Certainly ANY of her singles are less cookie-cutter than 75% of the pop that they playlist :/ Yeah. There was a thread on here at the time about it, I think. To be honest, I do kind of agree with them not wanting to play "cookie-cutter" pop. But they should do it on a song-by-song basis imo. Like they should say "All Night Long is a bit standard, we won't play that", and then "The Silence is a ballad. There's not many of those around atm. Let's playlist that". I agree, I don't think it was fair to categorize Shakira in that.

July 31, 201115 yr Awful. Any attempt this band is making to become the new 'S Club 7' is failing - especially given the huge hype and video airplay it got.
