Oh, is it just two tracks? In that case yeah, it was just an error it was showing up in the first place.

I don't see Emeli or Wretch 32 topping the chart next week. 'Heaven' sounds like a T20 hit, I reckon it'll debut at #14. As for Wretch, a third T5 is set to come upon him - although I see it debuting at #3 - meaning his discography goes 5-2-3 (but I may be wrong about this). Obviously an EP for both will help boost sales - especially the DJ Fresh remix of 'Don't Go' which is just incredible.

I seriously HOPE one of them goes to #1 with decent sales - if they both miss it the sales for #1 are going to be absolutely ATROCIOUS next week bar some unseen circumstances!

Modestep - Sunlight is out next week, I hope Jason is right and it goes to #1 because that's better than Wretch/Emeli :kink: Well, ideally I'd want Nero to get a second week. But as I say, if they do it'd be with dreadful sales. :(

I would agree under normalcircumstances but as sales are pretty much dead - I can see both going top 10 - either one should only need 35-40k to get to number 1 (if that)

If neither Emeli/Wretch get to number 1 it'll probably be JLS/David Guetta/Nero with abysmal sales of like 30k or something :o Or Christina Perri, she's been playlisted on R1 so the airplay for JOH will go up.

I think Nero will sell about 50k this week and maybe get a 2nd week at around 40k? Although I do think both Wretch 32 and Emeli Sande will beat that.

It still baffles me that Swedish House Mafia got 50,000 sales at #7 about the same time last year. How has the sales climate changed so much? :(

Why are sales so low? When was the last time single sales was this bad?

During the summer sales are always lower, no real new releases, people are on holiday.

BTW last year singles sales were 10% lower, so these sales aren't bad at all.

From the sales report:

Overall singles sales are down 4.81% week-on-week at 2,979,410 – 10.83% above same week 2010 sales of 2,688,330.

It's only the sales at the very top of the chart that are suffering though, overall sales are still on a big increase (10+%) over the same week in 2010 every week. It's just that all the big releases of the past few weeks have been really frontloaded :(
Usually, Emeli and Wretch would be looking at maybe low top 10 peaks, to think they're set for the top 3 is a bit worrying, good because Heaven is amazing but to think she's getting number 1 pretty much by default is less of an acheivement :( I wouldn't be shocked if she missed top 3 tbh, as I said a few posts ago it'll probably be Nero again with under 40k sales or JLS/David Guetta/Christina Perri with similarly bad sales.

Ones To Watch (movement since my last update)

:left: 01 Nero - Promises

:left: 03 David Guetta ft Taio Cruz & Ludacris - Little Bad Girl

:left: 05 Christina Perri - Jar of Hearts

 11 David Guetta ft Sia - Titanium

:left: 21 Bruno Mars - Marry You

 26 Nicole Scherzinger - Wet

:left: 28 Jay Z & Kanye West ft Beyonce - Lift Off

 35 Jessie J - Who's Laughing Now?

:left: 54 Selena Gomez & The Scene - Love You Like A Love Song

 67 Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot

 152 Rihanna - Cheers (Drink To That)

Wow, Nero really are pulling away. A 17% lead on iTunes, plus the EP sales are sure to give them a #1 overall - just a shame the sales won't be great. So long as the single can manage to beat ~150k sales of 'Me & You' and 'Guilt' - it's succeeded in becoming their best-selling single to date.

If people are thinking Wretch 32 and Emeli Sande can get T10 - how will the other singles currently in the T10 suffer. I can hardly see Nero falling to #3 (if Wretch and Sande are #1 and #2) - as they'll have sales from the album boosting them.

I can only see one of a few possibilities next week:

A) Nero spend a second week at #1 (1-1)

B) David Guetta climbs to #1 (4-1)

C) Wretch 32 debuts at #1 (1)

I don't think Sande or Modestep provide much competition. Although JLS/Christina Perri could easily receive a random boost.

24 Bruno Mars/ Marry You

41 Drake/ Headlines

52 The Game ft Chris Brown/ Pot of Gold. Just curious. How come The Game hasn't had much chart success in the past few years? He had 3 Top10 Hits in 2005 then disappeared

76 Paul Weller/ Starlite

I know this was like 5 pages ago, but no one answered you, so I will.

To put it very briefly, in 2005, there was a massive arguement between 50 Cent, The Game and their record label, Interscope. Interscope had to take drastic measures in the end, and The Game got kicked out onto another record label (although it was still connected to Interscope). They obviously kept 50 Cent because at the time he was one of, if not THE biggest artist in the world. The Game had much less chart success on his other label, hence no more top 10 hits after that.

But recently, after all these years, The Game has been invited back onto Interscope. And now he's back in the charts! :D

I'm kind of secretly hoping Lady Gaga gets into an arguement with 50 Cent and gets kicked off the label. :kink:

They'd kick off 50 Cent though nowadays! :P

Only a small drop for Christina Perri :D Looks like she will overtake Cher Lloyd soon!

Yeah, that's true, although I hate to admit it. Lady Gaga today is what 50 Cent was in 2005 (except 50 Cent's albums were more successful). He has a 4 album contract with Interscope though, so he's still got one more to release with them, before they can kick him out.

I did actually see an interview on Youtube a while ago, where Lady Gaga went on a rant about 50 Cent, calling him homophobic, so it could happen.

No WAY?! Surely not. How?! LOL.
No WAY?! Surely not. How?! LOL.

His first album get rich or die tryin was huge although I can't remember what it sold worldwide and what his second album did

His album, Get Rich of Die Trying, was the biggest-selling album of 2003 in the world (so compare it to 21) I believe, and I read that it's the 4th best-selling hip hop album of all time!

And 50 Cent's follow-up album, The Massacre, was the biggest-selling album in the US in 2005.

So I'd say he did better than Lady Gaga in albums. And 50 Cent must be one of a very select few artists who has had two of his albums be year-end #1! :o The only other ones I think did it are Michael Jackson and Elton John. Maybe Adele will do it if her next album is big enough.
