Simple maths would dictate that 8+2=10, so it wouldn't drop out of the top 10 when those two overtake it...

Well done you. :)

I think it's quite clear what I meant. After it goes down to #10 I don't want it dropping out of the ten ten (since it's in the most vulnerable position and there are songs like Without You and Marry You hanging around which could end up overtaking it and pushing it out).

Come on Dappy, lets get to number 1. I love Dappy's song tbh and I do like N Dubz.

pity it takes the xfactor for the brillant cannonball to go top 10.its peak is no19 i think from 2003??

happens every year, theres always a song that did poorish when first released and then once people see it on xfactor they all download it - journey, adele and now damien rice.just shows you the current weekly battles for no1 are irrelevant - you have to pick and chose to find the quality in the top 40 and they will rise to become classics eventually.the battle for no1 is just a marketing exercise........

BRING BACK ON AIR ON SALE NOW AND STOP KILLING THE CHARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its peak was #19, yes, but it was in 2004 - the song was first released in 2003 but it peaked higher with the '04 re-release.

James Morrison top 10 :cheer: I had a feeling Jason would overtake him and go top 10 first but very glad to see James still ahead. Hopefully he can stay ahead all week but realistically It Girl will overtake by tomorrow at the latest.

OA/OS was hardly a success, though, was it? Aside from 'Price Tag' (which got played on radios and was promoted months before Jessie broke through anyway) everything released under the strategy flopped. Notorious managed to go top ten but had a dreadful chart run, Beat Of My Drum flopped, Til The World Ends badly underperformed and In The Air barely made top 40.

Run The World and What The Hell both did okay but considering the artists they should have done alot more and they had rather poor sales overall.

Saying that, Down With The Trumpets and Bass Down Low were both OA/OS and they've done really well.

I hope we have a new number one every week until Christmas just to show how pathetic the charts are at the moment.

exactly then maybe the self interested british record labels will follow their international counterparts and realise its better to release a song straight away and get good sales and with a video out at the appropriate time and good promo it will do well regardless!!

A lot of the OA/OS songs you mentioned were just poor songs in general though and it's fitting that they weren't held back and then gone in top 3. Some of the one week wonders we've had over the last few weeks are so poor as well and probablt wouldn't do as well OA/OS (though I don't think that's been the case with everything)

It wasn't a 'success' because some record labels weren't doing it right. There were plenty of big OA/OS hits, you're just picking on the ones that were handled incredibly poorly.

There was one week where only Jennifer Lopez in the top 10 was a held back release. Its success rate was pretty much 50/50 really, and most of its failures were because of very poor handling of the release (Britney, Saturdays) or songs with limited appeal to the mass market (Beyonce, Nicola). Aloe Blacc, David Guetta (x2), Lady Gaga (x3), Pitbull, LMFAO, Dev, Mann, Rizzle Kicks and Alex Stan were all huge OA/OS hits! Two of the biggest songs from the back end of last year when it wasn't even in place were On Air/On Sale - The Time and Who's That Chick?

all the failure youve mentioned did badly because of a lack of promo and due to the song not being good enough.there have been loads of songs that done well with OA/OS think aloe blacc, i got a feeling and love the way you lie being the best example.as i always say, if a songs good enough it will rise and sell well.the songs you mentioned above are nearly all by artist who rely on no1s like the saturdays.

look at loca people being top 40 with a fake version too, theres clearly demand for the song but the record label is holding it back too the detriment of its sales next week.

even songs that do well like one direction im pretty sure if even what makes you beautifull was released say 2 weeks ago it would have sold even more copies and wouldn't drop in sales as quickly as it will this week!!

Does anyone know the percentage of Example's 'Stay Awake' combined? It's got a version within the T15 and another within the T40 - so I'm not entirely sure whether it'll drop out of the T10 next week - a chart run of (1-5-7-11) doesn't look particularly good.

Shocked that Christina Perri has lasted so long to be quite honest - it'll be her sixth week in the T10 this week, so if she survives the Dappy/Morrison/Derulo entries, that'll be seven. I guess she'll be a one-hit wonder in the UK though, the second single 'Arms' doesn't have the same appeal.

Dappy gained extremely fast to get #02. Earlier I thought it would take him till 4/5 to reach at least 2 :( Oh well glad Morrison is 8 and climbing :D

I think it shows it as more competitive rather than pathetic.

Definitely, there are so many big name releases coming up every week in the run up to Xmas, so it's inevitable that there will be different number 1's
