Actually Amelia left over Sophie

It was in no particular order though, there's nothing to say (except speculation) that it was actually between Amelia and Sophie for the last spot.

It may have been....but we can't really say it as fact.

Actually Amelia left over Sophie

That's not true either. Sophie was the last one announced over Amelia but that doesn't mean that it was between those two to go. Just the order Kelly announced it. Who cares anyway? Sophie hasn't got a lifeline despite being the best girl in the competition.

I still don't get why Johnny can't just come back instead of this shite.

This whole thing is really weird....

there's going to be so many people watching on saturday who won't have a clue what's going on. They'll probably just think it was a fix to get Amelia back in and forget that it was actually a public vote.

The 'twist' or 'fix' for those who prefer to call it that - has done its job. More viewers is more important than a few poxy pounds going to charity. Besides - I don't know why anyone not considering voting for Amelia is bothering to vote. She's had way more exposure during the past few weeks to grant her more of a chance so I think she'll walk it.

I still don't get why Johnny can't just come back instead of this shite.

He can't come back because the public have already voted him out fair and square. The judges chose Kitty to stay so you could say that the judges got rid of Johnny, but in reality he was in the bottom 3 because the public didn't vote for him - hence he was eliminated in traditional fashion. As controversial as it is, this IS the fairest way, the 4 that were eliminated were the only choice for a replacement as they weren't eliminated through conventional methods (the reason they left was because of the judges, not because of lack of public support) without having to refund every single vote from last week, which they would've had to do if they reinstated Johnny.

It's so frustrating that people are going crazy for Johnny to come back, which in a nonsensical way I can sort of understand, but The Risk? They were eliminated solely based on the public vote, it would be proposterous to bring them back. Everyone is banging on about Johnny as if he was some sort of SAVIOUR OF X-FACTOR. He was a complete and utter joke, the whole OTT campness, plus the ridiculous song choices (Louis isn't entirely to blame...), his whole persona just screams joke. Harmless fun, but got dull, repetitive and tedious very quickly.

The right decision has been made, and I'm pleased that we WILL (in Amelia) get somebody that's talented and an actual contender, not just someone who's there to make up the numbers.

I am not massively enamoured by any of them, but Amelia and 2Shoes at least had more potential than the other 2.

The public haven't voted him out of anything, that's not how the show works. He was unlucky to fall into the bottom 3 the week they did a double elimination and for all you know, he could have had more votes than Kitty.

Why is it fairer to bring back people who have taken no part in the public vote? It isn't. Anyone of those acts if not all of them could have been voted off by now. Why do they deserve to come back more than Johnny, The Risk, Sophie, Sami or Nu Vibe-who all never skipped weeks of the competition before being voted off?

And why on Earth would a refund be required to bring Johnny back? People voted to save him not vote him out. Does everyone get a refund everytime their favourite gets voted out? Please get some perspective.

Johnny may have been a joke but so is XF as a whole and he entertained. He could sing but was also never boring. If you think the show is about finding talent, I feel sorry for you.

Say that Johnny coming back wouldn't be fair is one thing, but claiming that this new twist is in anyway fair just because beloved Amelia has another chance is absolutely deluded.

As I said, who cares anymore anyway?

Edited by T Boy

If Louis had not turned Johnny into the substitute joke act once Goldie left he may still be in the competition. Joke acts get tedious after awhile and Johnny has nothing more to give.

I will laugh if Jonjo gets the sympathy phone votes and we have to listen to his flat, tuneless singing for another week.

Tbh, I'd rather we had a really shit act come back, so they can get eliminated again on the first show they're back so the competition can keep running as normal. :D Maybe people will decide to 'boycott' X Factor's twist? I think generally people are starting to get fed up with all the drama now.

its clearly obvious it was between her and Sophie Misha gave the prefomace of the night with rolling deep claimed by many so she weren't going anywhere and Janet was on last and also heavly praised and the show fav at the point of the show

You don't know for sure that's what entered Kelly's mind though...

Firstly, do not try and patronise me, I know how the show works. He could have had more votes than Kitty, but he WAS voted off in conventional methods. Johnny wasn't in the bottom 3 by some sort of bingo draw of names, he was there because the public DID NOT SUPPORT HIM.

It's fair because the public had their chance to make up their minds on Johnny, and the public put him in the bottom 3, nobody else, the public did that to him because he clearly wasn't as popular as the others - now THAT is how the show works. The least popular acts that week end up in the bottom 2, or 3 in that weeks case.

You are deluded my friend, and just being plain idiotic - the reason why NuVibe, Sophie, Sami, The Risk or Johnny is because they DID NOT GET THE SUPPORT OF THE PUBLIC. Plain and simple, fair and square. Whichever of the 4 gets reinstated has NEVER been given the chance to be judged by the public.

How do you know that (unlikely as it seems) Jonjo / Amelia / 2 Shoes / James might have been a huge hit with the public? Might have won the show? We DON'T know that, because they never had that chance.

However we DO know that NuVibe, Sami, Johnny, The Risk and Sophie would NOT have won the show, because they lacked public support, in that they put them in the bottom 2 and were eliminated fairly.

It IS fairer to bring back people who have had no part in the public vote because the public might have LOVED them, but were never given the chance to show it, the eliminated ones have already had that chance. The key here is public support. The ones already eliminated lacked it, or they wouldn't have been eliminated, the 1 coming back might have overwhelming support.

The reason why they would have had to refund the votes is because everybody voted on the premise of it being an advertised double elimination, and if they chance that now it would be false advertising. With no doubt yet another voting scandal of people saying "well I voted for Frankie 37 times because it was a double elimination, I wouldn't have if it was a normal week" etc, etc.

I don't think it's about finding talent, but for me, I like to find at least a few people whose career I WOULD actually follow in the real world. I don't care what anybody else thinks of X-Factor, that is what the show is about for me. Like last year, the show was alright but I was pleased a new artist was discovered that I like, that is why I like X-Factor. I like Amelia and I'm pleased she's getting another crack at the whip, but this is not whether or not I like Amelia or the other 3, I'm not some sort of loon that can't see past the entire process. This is the fairest way and the ONLY way the X-Factor can resolve this without losing money from future phone votes or having to refund people and getting a little bit of exposure for the show, of course this is the only way they'd resolve it!

Bringing back someone who has been sent home by the judges, even if it happened to be weeks ago, is fairer in my eyes than going against the public's voting. Because then what's even the point of a vote? At the end of the day, they chose Johnny to go home and that's that. Not saying that the twist is fair but if they have to boot Frankie then they may as well add a bit more drama while they're at it - it's the whole dynamic of the show these days.

Not under ANY circumstance is it FAIR to bring someone back into the competition who HAS NOT COMPETED THUS FAR. So what if their exit was unconventional and unfair in itself, how on Earth would it be fair if Amelia or someone managed to win over the acts still here who have worked hard every week to remain here?

And NO, they wouldn't have to refund-to whom would they be refunding? It doesn't make any sense and only would if we voted for our least favourite which we don't. If anything it'd be fairer to refund everyone who voted for Frankie, because they wanted to see him perform again, spent all that money and now don't get to. So, forgive me if I sound patronising, but your argument here makes NO SENSE.

As for this being the 'only' way to resolve this, once again I disagree. The absolutle fairest way to resolve it would be to not bring anyone back and just have two acts for the final. This is just for the media exposure and a ratings boost.

So say what you will about Johnny coming back, but at this stage he does have more right to be there than acts who have not put in the work over the last few weeks.

Somebody that gets it! Hallelujah!

I think that's why the producers had this contingency plan put in on that first 'twist' week (or even earlier). I still don't know why people are referring to it as a twist though when its quite obviously more of a swizz! It is lucky for XF that it has such a loyal audience who are happy to go along with it.

Anway - fix, swizz, script, I don't really care - as long as Amelia is back in I'm 'fairly' happy - as I'm sure she went into the competition at the beginning in good faith - don't see why she should suffer. I just hope that Gary doesn't get a second crack at the whip with James (much as I liked James) as he'll have had his cake and eaten it!

Did anyone see the press conference? Gary was blaming Louis for Frankie's demise! The guy has no 'shame'.

Gary has also said 'we are all to blame for what happened to Frankie'. I'm rattling my brains now in order to think of what I did to lead Frankie down this terrible road!

So say what you will about Johnny coming back, but at this stage he does have more right to be there than acts who have not put in the work over the last few weeks.

As Liam said, it's a well known fact that it's far too complicated to start messing with the public votes. They cannot go back on it without a serious mess following. Yes, in the real world, fairness would say just carry on without Frankie, but come on this is X-Factor - do you REALLY think they're gonna lose out on the cash generated by an extra person to vote for every week? Of course they won't!

They won't just have to refund Johnny's votes, they would have to refund EVERYONE'S votes, because bringing back the person who the public chose to put in the bottom 3 and was eliminated fairly is going back on the entire POINT of a public vote. God knows people in the UK love to moan about being fiddled out of pennies, and with Ofcom already hot on their heels with the whole Frankie debacle, they were never gonna mess with the public vote.

Look at it from a business perspective, ratings are down and they're in this predicament, what will get more viewers in? Bringing back somebody the public are already yawning at and have gotten rid of once, or bringing back somebody new and exciting that the public could potentially be interested in? It's a no-brainer, and anybody with the slightest bit of common sense can see that this IS the only way this would ever be resolved - the way in which helps the brand the most, and bringing back Johnny would have 0 impact because people are already tired of him, or he would have gotten enough votes to stay last week. Harsh, but true.

I AGREE WITH KELLIE.

It is the most sensible solution (it may not be the best one, but it's reasonable).

Anyone know where I can find a link to all of today's press conference btw?

Gary has also said 'we are all to blame for what happened to Frankie'. I'm rattling my brains now in order to think of what I did to lead Frankie down this terrible road!

He was blaming all those who were bullying him on internet forums, twitter - even the people booing him were to blame - he thought it was a shame for such a young bloke to be bullied and constantly told he was no good. Well John and Edward were younger than Frankie (and a hell of a lot more innocent) and it didn't stop them from knuckling down and at least TRYING! I seem to recall Gary making a comment in the papers about them at the time too!
