Very happy with Cher being #3 in albums with 26.8k sales already! Looks like she will sell more first week then Diana Vickers, Didn't diana only sell like 35k and get #1? Anyway very happy with that and the fact she's only like 4k behind #1 is great for her! Hopefully she will past 50k plus come sunday :D

Diana isn't really a fair comparison to make, Cher had 2 top 5 hits before her album, one with higher first week sales than 'Once', plus Cher is releasing at a time when album sales are a bit higher in general. And she had XF promotion while Vickers didn't.

Is Birdy's version of People Help The People still top 40?

Yes, it's still #33.

I think it might actually climb this week with the album version out, which means it could still potentially challenge the #27 peak of the original  I sincerely hope not.

True, But alot of people are comparing them as they both came 4th, So just thought id ask! :)

Cher's album will probably go top 5 but will underperform sales wise. Its not question that her sales are bouyed by the amazon 3.99 deal and that HMV are selling it for just over a fiver but when the promotions finish next week i cant see her sales staying strong. I have a feeling Matt Cardle will sell more albums than her

What would you consider to be 'underperforming'? She's doing a lot better than I thought she would personally. She doesn't strike me as an album-selling artist at all. I thought 26.8k would be around what she sold in her first week, not in her first 2 days.

Either way Cher is gona open on decent sales, 26.5k in 2-3 days is quite good, she should sell the same amount if not more for the remainder, i think the wanted will probably over take her again during the week, in a way im happy susan boyle is number 1 although im not sure she will stay there.

I thought she would have a top 5 album just cos of people curiousity. I just can't see her having long term sales.

oh, Susan Boyle number 1 then, sigh :( at least this one won't sell quite as much, I wasn't expecting Cher to overtake The Wanted :o hopefully Coldplay can overtake at least one of them by Sunday
WOAH! Cher Lloyd less than 5k from number 1! I was expecting her to be around 7-8 with this, with about 30k sold! Very pleased she's exceeded my expectations. (Expecting a major drop next week though!) I hope she can catch the Boyle by Sunday, but I think she'll have to settle for 3rd best, by Sunday! But I'm very pleased with that.

Let that Cher have a Top 3 album

Let's just calculate how much money she will make out of it...

£3.99 x whatever she will manage to sell....

She wont get 3.99 out of each unit.

Exactly. That's the point. The average album costs around 8-9 quid. It just shows she will get 10p per copy :D

Cher's album is less than 40 minutes long. It should be as cheap as £3.99!

cheap sums the entire act up

UK Midweek Chart update: Rihanna breathing down JLS's necks

Singles

Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris’s We Found Love is stubbornly continuing to put the pressure on JLS’s Take A Chance On Me to top the UK singles chart this coming Sunday and complete a simultaneous trans-Atlantic chart-topping double.

The Def Jam/Mercury release, which previously spent three weeks leading the UK chart before Professor Green featuring Emeli Sande’s Virgin single Read All About It took over for two weeks, is just 3,725 sales behind Epic’s newly-issued JLS single. The UK chart battle continues as We Found Love secures a second week at the head of the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

Albums

Syco’s Susan Boyle, meanwhile, is moving further ahead of Island’s Florence + The Machine’s Ceremonials on the UK artist albums chart with Someone To Watch Over Me now having sold more than 40,000 copies since its release on Monday, according to the Official Charts Company. At the beginning of the week Ceremonials, which debuted at number one on Sunday, was ahead.

When will Rihanna overtake JLS? :(

When will Rihanna overtake JLS? :(

I'd like to have the answer as well... Hopefully before the end of the week !

Noel's position just seems to be doubling week-on-week, I'm pretty sure this'll be the last week it does so as I can't see it dropping to #16 next week.
