November 24, 201114 yr Can any girl band be successful in the long-term? As soon as their good looks fade and their kiddy fanbase move on, all girl/boy bands are doomed to fail eventually. Girls Aloud lasted a pretty decent amount of time (and could still continue their success if they ever come off their hiatus).
November 24, 201114 yr Oh of course, because the uk have enough girl bands at the moment. Parade were just dropped this morning as well. LUL Wot?  Not surprising mind you, but I'm surprised at how quick they did it.

November 24, 201114 yr Rihanna's looking to repeat the success of Loud last Christmas with this album. Clever time to release.
November 24, 201114 yr Oh of course, because the uk have enough girl bands at the moment. Parade were just dropped this morning as well. lol you can just admit you are a saturdays stan rather than go on about uk music. :P
November 24, 201114 yr Oh gosh. Annoying to see Maroon 5 climbing again. :drama: It's getting ridiculous now. I think this will be their last week now though. The sales from the new version of the song will probably be balanced out by it losing the top 10 effect on iTunes. Amazing that they're looking to get 15 weeks though. That'll be the 2nd longest top 10 run of the century so far!
November 24, 201114 yr Seems it would be nice for Olly to get another no1 this week - which other XF star got bigger with their second era campaign? (If anyone says Joe McEldreach i will stab them in the eyes - getting dropped and launching a career as a quick cash in after winning a SECOND reality TV show can't really be considered building on existing strengths IMHO) I suppose Girls Aloud and Will Young did but they were Pop Stars/Idol and not XF technically He has a nice lead but Rihanna is eroding day on day - making a genuinely interesting battle for a change. Agreed about the CDS - will be ironic if despite the small number shifted it would've been enough to make #1 instead of #2...
November 24, 201114 yr Girls Aloud lasted a pretty decent amount of time (and could still continue their success if they ever come off their hiatus). Don't encourage them
November 24, 201114 yr This one springs to mind, both are based on Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall. 03/12/1988 Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall 67-63-53-47-39-31-12-{9}-11-15-27-36-54->13 --------------------------- 12/03/2005 Cabin Crew - Star To Fall {4}-6-14-20-26-35-43-52->8 19/03/2005 Sunset Strippers - Falling Stars {3}-5-9-14-18-18-23-26-40-42-52-66-69->13 #3 and #6 in the same week. And in May that year ANOTHER song sampling Boy Meets Girl charted: In My Arms by Mylo got to number 13.
November 24, 201114 yr That'll be the 2nd longest top 10 run of the century so far! 3rd longest, 17 weeks Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling and 16 weeks Shakira - Hips Don't Lie. Although, I would like to know, is it joint 3rd? Has there been any more 15 weekers this Century? What is the longest of this decade as well? (I.E. What was the longest top 10 run of last year? haha)

November 24, 201114 yr Mathematical equation, 11 minus 10 = 1. Probably not necessary for the #1, but lower down the chart Buzzjack uses this system to avoid stating exactly what the midweek position is. 91,916 - Loud (entering at #2) 53,772 - Good Girl Gone Bad (entering at #1) 32,243 - Rated R (entering at #16) 23,541 - A Girl Like Me (entering at #6) I don't think Music Of The Sun was ever revealed, but it entered at #35... its opening sales would have been quite a bit under 10,000. Wow thanks for those figures! She's already smashed past Loud which i thought passed 100k in its first week or I might have been thinking of a later week where she hit like 150k in 1 week or something. So happy for Rihanna! I'm such a huge fan and have now seen her 3 times, first time for LGOE tour, next at V Festival and at her Loud tour and she has never disappointed. She is truly amazing live. I think she has now hit her major peak which people presumed she had hit with Umbrella, my how she proved everyone wrong. Could we see another album next year? You never know...Â

'The A Team' is third on 13 weeks and there's a couple with 12. Edited November 24, 201114 yr by Bré

You never know... I remember Rihanna went on Twitter and said something like "WOW, UK fans are crazy, Loud sold 305K in one week!!" (with different wording I think haha). However it was actually 200K'ish and it was behind Take That in late December/early January. The Rihanna domination earlier this year was insane.
November 24, 201114 yr Olly Murs vs. Rihanna isn't even a battle any more, Rihanna has had it in the bag for a while now. I would have preferred an Olly victory but I have no complaints about Rihanna getting a sixth week (apart from the fact it'll be stealing Adele's record for the longest running #1 of the year, which I think is a bit unfair since she was the first 5-weeker since 2008  But then again, Adele has just about every other chart record ever, so it won't hurt her much to lose this particular one). It's funny how we had 11 different #1s over an 11 week period immediately followed by an 8 week period with just 2 number ones. Reminds me of a less extreme clone of the US Hot 100 in 2009 when there were 2 #1s in a 26 week period (dear GOD that was a drag, both by the same artist as well :P) and immediately after that the #1 changed 7 weeks in a row (although that included two runs at #1 for both 'Down' and 'Fireflies' so there were only 5 actual songs at #1 in that 7 week period). However it was actually 200K'ish and it was behind Take That in late December/early January. The Rihanna domination earlier this year was insane. I think we're back to the cocked-up Boxing Day chart from last year again here. Rihanna probably tweeted that in good faith, because her sales and Take That's were quoted by the OCC as enormous. They then revised them downwards, knocking those two artists down massively (and taking over a million sales off albums overall for the week).
November 24, 201114 yr He's growing up mighty fine  The fact that he wouldn't be remotely interested makes it more of a challenge :)Â well i'm him target demographic, so i wouldn't even have to work for it :P
